Bitter Sweet Love with My Stepbrother CEO

Yvette Matthews had a great early childhood. She had loving parents that has given her a great life. Her father was a 5-star master chef while her mother was a well known patissier in the culinary world. Her life was great but all of that changed when her parents got into a car accident and died. Yvette was orphaned at a tender age of six years old. In her parent’s wake, a middle aged man with his ten year old son came. He told Yvette that he was her parents’ friend from college and was willing to adopt Yvette. Her having no next of kin and rather than her going into foster care, the adults in the foster agency agreed after checking the man’s background. It was known that the middle aged man was the CEO of a large 5-star hotel and restaurant group that not only operated in the country but around the world. Yvette lived a life as a princess being doted by her stepfather and stepbrother. Even though she lived a life full of luxury, she stayed humble and studied hard to be a good chef and patissier like her parents. She loved her new family, and she harbored romantic feelings with her stepbrother, Joseph Hamilton. Something she kept a secret since she knew her feelings cannot be reciprocated. But all of that changed when her stepfather died of old age. When the lawyer of his stepfather read his last will leaving seventy percent of his fortune to Yvette including the rights to the Hamilton hotels. This shocked many especially her stepbrother, Joseph, since he was only left with thirty percent. But there was a clause in the will, that Jospeh could be the CEO if he marries Yvette and they produce an heir. Her life started to turn gray since Joseph was forced to leave his current girlfriend whom Yvette knew he loved so much and marry her to get the CEO title. Joseph’s kindness and pampering turned into hate and disgust. He became cold and aloof, coming home late and going to work early in the morning. Yvette’s only solace was the son she bore with Joseph on their wedding night. She poured all of her love to her little son. But fate was cruel to her once again when she found out that Joseph was seeing his ex-girlfriend once again. Hearing from someone that they were meeting in a hotel room, she mustered the courage to confront them. Yvette saw the ex-girlfriend in the hotel room wearing sexy lingerie. They got in the heated argument. “Seph does bot love you.” The ex-girlfriend said. “He just married you to get the position that should be rightfully his!” She shouted. “Do you not think I know that?!” Shouted Yvette. “But he is still married to me!” The two were pulling each other’s hair in the hotel balcony which is located at the 43rd floor. They both went over the railed in the heat of the moment and they were holding for dear life. “Dianne!” Joseph voice was heard inside the hotel room. “S-Seph!” The ex-girlfriend shouted. “Help me!” “Dianne!” Joseph was alarmed to see her hanging on the balcony. “Yvette? Why are you here?!” He sounded surprised. “H-Help me.” Yvette cried. “Hold on! I am going to get you out.” Joseph said but he pulled his ex-girlfriend first and took off his coat to put on to her. Yvette’s heart was crushed. She knew in that time that who Joseph really loved was Dianne and not her. This erased all of her hope on being loved and had let go. She felt her body falling for a long time. Yvette’s body felt light and she thought that she had now thrown all of her guilt and the burden in the loveless relationship. She wished that in her next life, she would not have this kind of love once again. But then she opened her eyes once again, to the day when the lawyer would read her stepfather’s last will. “I will changed my fate.” Yvette thought. “In this life, I will not be drowned in a loveless marriage with my stepbrother.”

My Bitter Sweet Life (2)

I got in my car and drove off of the mansion's drive and towards the huge gates of our estate. The gates automatically open.

"Ma'am… ma'am!" The security guard who was guarding the gate looked surprised as I passed by.

If I also saw myself, I am sure to get shocked as well. I have never driven this fast in my entire life. Not that I really needed to drive since we always have drivers driving us to our destination since we were kids. Learning how to drive was my whim, since I did not want to always burden someone to drive me to where I would go. I saw that driving was a basic necessity for me.

I quickly turned right on the next cruve. These street was one I have always driven and was very accustomed with. It was the way towards the city.

Our mansion was located just in the suburbs outside the city. It was built specifically for me and Joseph by our father. It just shows that my stepfather had always planned for the two of us to end up together.

Actually, I loved the place. The ambiance was good and the scenery was breathtaking. It was a home made to relax outside the busy bustling city.

Coming out of the highway, it would take at least thirty minutes until I can get to the exit to get to the city where the Hamilton Hotel mentioned in the message I received. The drive was uneventful, but the time that took for me to get to the exit seemed like an eternity. The message was playing in a loop inside my head non stop, even though I do not want to think about it.

"Come on Yvy…" I told myself. "You knew this would be inevitable."

I knew that Joseph was forced to marry me to get the CEO position that was rightfully his in the first place. I should have forfeited my rights in the Hamilton fortune to the rightful heir and just lived my life as Yvette Mathews once again. But thinking about what ifs made my heart ache.

"But I just have to be selfish." I said to myself.

My unrequited love for my stepbrother just deepened with time. I harbored feelings that should be identified as immoral and unethical. We were bound by law as siblings and in the eyes of the public, it should be seen as incest even if we were never related by blood.

My selfishness had just given me a blind eye to the stares of the people around me. I was thrilled that there was something that would tie Joseph to me, even if it was a forced marriage. He had doted on me as a sister when we were young and I thought that in time he would learn to love me as a woman. But I was so wrong.

Joseph changed after the reading of my stepfathers last will and testament. He became cold and aloof. And he just became colder and colder even after marriage. I thought that he would change when we have kids. Shawn came and my life had its meaning once again, but Joseph's treatment towards me did not change. He loved and adored Shawn, and he makes an effort to at least show out son that his parents are okay if we are in front of him. But when we are alone, he would revert back to the cold man I saw after that fateful day of reading the last will.

"You knew this was coming." I said to myself, tears starting to trickle down my eyes.

I knew how Joesph and Dianne were a loving couple since highschool. I knew how they planned to build a future together, but all that shattered because of that fateful day.

"You know that he never touched you since Shawn was born." I scolded myself. "You knew a man could not last without their needs."

I scolded myself but still it hurts. My heart felt it would shatter to pieces.

My exit was in sight and I truned right. Not long I took the familair road towards the Hamilton Hotel in the city.

The Hamilton Hotel here is the base of operations to all the chains around the world. This is where mu stepfather had his office and this Joesph as the next CEO followed in his place.

I drove to the drive way and a vallet attendant greeted me with a smile.

"Madam Hamilton, we were not informed that you would be visiting today." The vallet attendant said while helping me out of the car.

"It is an emergency." I said in reply. "Is my husband in his office right now?" I asked.

"The boss stepped out to have a business lunch with the new contractor for the restaurant chain in Paris, as I was informed." The vallet attendant replied. "He might be back a little bit later, madam."

"Oh yes, that was supposedly today." I said.

There was a problem with the Paris branch six years ago but we did not know the scope of the problem until just recently. Because of that, we had to find a new contractor to head the Paris branch and lift the dwindling sales up that made a huge impact to our overall market.

"Would you like me to ask someone to escort you to the boss' office, madam?" He asked politely.

"No need. I know my way here more than you do." I replied with a cold tone. "Here, I am in a hurry." I gave him my keys and in a rush zoom in the hotel.

I saw the surprised face of the vallet attendant and I regretted my actions instantly. I am not like this ever. He must have been shocked to see me act this way.

"Welcome madam." The employees inside the hotel I pass by all greeted me with politeness. I just nodded my head and headed to the elevator in a rush.

Luckly, I was all by myself in the elevator lobby. When I heard a ping on the elevator, there was no one inside and I instantly came in and hit the close button.

"The 43rd floor." I remember what the message said. "Room 4302. This afternoon."

The elevator started to ascened in what felt a slow pace. I looked at my watch and it was just ten past four. Shawn's birthday would start by seven in the evening. Three hours os plenty of time to do things.

"Ugh…" I groaned in pain. I have been feeling my head pounding since reading that message.

*PING*

The elevator doors open and said in the monitor that I am not in the 43rd floor. I slowly stepped outside and the elevator door closes behind me.

I can feel the blood rushing to my head. My heart was pounding loudly inside my chest.

'Do I really need to do this?' I thought to myself. 'Do I really want to see my husband having an affair with his ex.'

But I need to see it with my own eyes. Because if not, I will continue my life in this loveless marriage, convincing myself that it is alright to be in this kind of relationship.

I inhaled a big gulp of air and proceeded to the room indicated in the message.

"Room 4302." I said silently.

I looked at the numbers that were written on the door. I mustered the courage to lift my hands to knock but stopped midway. I was still in doubt with everything.

'If this is all true, what will happen to me and Shawn.' I thought to myself. 'He would grow up in a broken family. Is that really what I want my son to live with?'

While I was still contemplating, I saw a shadow behind the door. Someone was just behind the door.

"What are you doing standing there?" A voice I knew so well sinde I was young. "You could have just opened it. You have the card key, right?"

The door opened and I saw my fear coming to life. Dianne, my husband's ex was standing right in front of me. Our eyes met and her smile had turned into a frown.

"Oh, its you." Dianne said with a nonchalant expression.

Dianne was wearing a thin silk night gown that cannot cover her sexy lingerie underneath. She knew I was staring and quickly tied the robe she had to conceal her body.

"Well, what brings the madam of the Hamilton Hotels here?" Dianne asked with sarcasm.

My head was throbbing like never before. I felt all the blood rush towards my head. I cannot believe she is asking me such a question.

"Why?" I asked. "I am the wife of the CEO of this hotel. I can go wherever I want to go."

I said with equal sarcasm.

I pushed her and forced myself inside.

"Ouch…" Dianned groaned. "Hey, you cannot just come in here. I am a customer and this is harassment. I can sue you for this."

"Then go ahead and try." I said with seething anger. "If you have the guts to go head on with our legal team, then go ahead and do so. I will expose to the world how you seduced someone else's husband!"

Dianned stepped back hearing my words. She knew that she was at a disadvantage, knowing the power and money I had. She knew she can't cross with me in legal means.

"How dare you say that!" Dianne said with anger. "I should be the one in your position right. I should have been the one Joseph married!"

"But you aren't." I said in my defense. "I am legally married to Joesph. If I am not, then Joseph won't be in his position right now."

I am spewing words that I knew started this situation. I knew that if Joseph hears me saying this, he would hate me for the rest of his life. But this is the only weapon I can wield against this woman. I knew that she has the love of my husband, something I have wanted so bad all my life but never even got even a ting bit of affection.

*SLAP*

I can feel my right cheek tinged in pain. Dianne had slapped me for what I have said.
