Bitter Sweet Love with My Stepbrother CEO

Yvette Matthews had a great early childhood. She had loving parents that has given her a great life. Her father was a 5-star master chef while her mother was a well known patissier in the culinary world. Her life was great but all of that changed when her parents got into a car accident and died. Yvette was orphaned at a tender age of six years old. In her parent’s wake, a middle aged man with his ten year old son came. He told Yvette that he was her parents’ friend from college and was willing to adopt Yvette. Her having no next of kin and rather than her going into foster care, the adults in the foster agency agreed after checking the man’s background. It was known that the middle aged man was the CEO of a large 5-star hotel and restaurant group that not only operated in the country but around the world. Yvette lived a life as a princess being doted by her stepfather and stepbrother. Even though she lived a life full of luxury, she stayed humble and studied hard to be a good chef and patissier like her parents. She loved her new family, and she harbored romantic feelings with her stepbrother, Joseph Hamilton. Something she kept a secret since she knew her feelings cannot be reciprocated. But all of that changed when her stepfather died of old age. When the lawyer of his stepfather read his last will leaving seventy percent of his fortune to Yvette including the rights to the Hamilton hotels. This shocked many especially her stepbrother, Joseph, since he was only left with thirty percent. But there was a clause in the will, that Jospeh could be the CEO if he marries Yvette and they produce an heir. Her life started to turn gray since Joseph was forced to leave his current girlfriend whom Yvette knew he loved so much and marry her to get the CEO title. Joseph’s kindness and pampering turned into hate and disgust. He became cold and aloof, coming home late and going to work early in the morning. Yvette’s only solace was the son she bore with Joseph on their wedding night. She poured all of her love to her little son. But fate was cruel to her once again when she found out that Joseph was seeing his ex-girlfriend once again. Hearing from someone that they were meeting in a hotel room, she mustered the courage to confront them. Yvette saw the ex-girlfriend in the hotel room wearing sexy lingerie. They got in the heated argument. “Seph does bot love you.” The ex-girlfriend said. “He just married you to get the position that should be rightfully his!” She shouted. “Do you not think I know that?!” Shouted Yvette. “But he is still married to me!” The two were pulling each other’s hair in the hotel balcony which is located at the 43rd floor. They both went over the railed in the heat of the moment and they were holding for dear life. “Dianne!” Joseph voice was heard inside the hotel room. “S-Seph!” The ex-girlfriend shouted. “Help me!” “Dianne!” Joseph was alarmed to see her hanging on the balcony. “Yvette? Why are you here?!” He sounded surprised. “H-Help me.” Yvette cried. “Hold on! I am going to get you out.” Joseph said but he pulled his ex-girlfriend first and took off his coat to put on to her. Yvette’s heart was crushed. She knew in that time that who Joseph really loved was Dianne and not her. This erased all of her hope on being loved and had let go. She felt her body falling for a long time. Yvette’s body felt light and she thought that she had now thrown all of her guilt and the burden in the loveless relationship. She wished that in her next life, she would not have this kind of love once again. But then she opened her eyes once again, to the day when the lawyer would read her stepfather’s last will. “I will changed my fate.” Yvette thought. “In this life, I will not be drowned in a loveless marriage with my stepbrother.”

My Bitter Sweet Life (3)

I can feel my right cheek burning from the slap. I was taken by surprise that I was not able to say anything but hold my cheek that was burning in pain.

"How dare you say that with as if you are the one entitled?!" Dianned roared. "The Hamilton Hotels was Joseph's dream since he was young. He had studied and worked hard to get the position his father has worked hard for. And all that came tumbling down after his father's last will and testament was read. Did you know how hurt and felt betrayed he was? He… he cherished you like a true sister."

I can see how emotional Dianne was when spouting all of her word. I cannot deny every word she said since it was all true. I can only imagined how Joseph really felt, but coming from his ex's mouth really hit the nail.

"I…I…" I wanted to refute, but I cannot think of anything to say.

'The truth hurts', it was a phrase that describes what I am feeling right now.

"Seph and I had been together since we were young, Yvette." Dianned said. Tears now streaming down her eyes. "We had already made plans for the future together. But all of that crumbled down because of that darn last will."

"It wasn't my fault." I blurted out. "I never said anything that I wanted Seph to marry me." I can also feel tears trickle down my face.

"But you could have refused, Yvette." Dianne said. Her words surfaced my own guilt once again. "You could have f*cking refused!"

"I… didn't have a choice." I said. "If I did not push thru on getting married to Seph, then the CEO position he had worked do hard for… he could have lost it."

I remembered the lawyer reading that clause as if it happened just yesterday.

'The CEO position will be given to Yvette. But if my son Joseph marries Yvette, then he can be the acting CEO in her stead. The CEO position cab only be permanently his if they both vear a child and name him/her the heir of the Hamilton Hotels.'

Hearing that line gave us no choice but to agree to the marriage. That was what I thought.

"You could have asked for other options." Dianne said. "You know there could be other ways to give the CEO position to Seph without really getting married. Yes, it could take a longer time but at least it was the surest way for all of us to be happy."

What Dianne said was true. We could have found other options. It could take a longer time, but at least it could have made Dianne and Joseph end up together.

I admit, it was my selfishness that put us in this kind of situation. I had blinded myself to the hope that Joseph could have romantic feelings for me over time. It was a hope that was now shattered to bits and pieces.

"But still…" I composed myself. "I am now married to Joseph. I am his wife legally, and you… you are nothing but a mistress right now."

I was not going to back down in front of this woman. I may have broken their long relationship, but still I am Joseph's wife right now. We can talk about our future once we are togther, if he wants a divorce then I will gladly do so if he tells me that is what will make him happy.

But I cannot back down in front of his ex. I have been the underdog in their relationship for the longest time. I knew that Dianne had knew my feelings for Joseph since we were young, but like a b*tch she is she had been flaunting to me that she was Joseph's girlfriend. Every time I see them in the past it felt like rubbing a grain of salt to a wound. And now, I was just getting back at her.

"Why you… f*cking little b*itch!" Dianne did not sit well with my remark. "Take your words back! You were the one that stole Seph first!" She shouted in anger.

"I may have done so, but I am still the one in this position right now." I flaunted. "You may be his ex-girlfriend, but I am now his WIFE. And that just makes your little as* a whore and a mistress."

My words had really hit a nail into Dianne. Her face that was so proud earlier is not filled with anger and rage.

"YOU CRAZY AS* B*ITCH!" Dianne screamed and launched at me.

I was surprised that she just ran straight for me and grabbed my hair.

"Aaagghh…" I screamed in pain. "Let… let go!" I yelled.

"He was mine first!" Dianne screamed. "You f*cking b*tch were the one to steal him away from me!"

"Aaaggh!" I was trying to pry her hands open but she had her hand firmly holding my hair.

"It was your fault!" Dianne said while pulling my hair so hard. "If you were not existing in the first place, he would have been mine and mine alone. Why did you just have to be in the picture?!" She yelled.

"I said let go!" I screamed back and also pulled her hair since I was not able to take her hands off me.

"Aaggh!" Dianne also yelled in pain.

The both of us were not trashing inside the hotel room. We bumped to the furnitures, toppled breakable things. I can hear things breaking but we did not stop.

I just heard a loud bang and something broken. I felt my back hit something hard abs I can feel the pain. But we still had our fight going on.

It was later I realized that we were now at the open balcony of the hotel room. The wind was blowing hard and I was thrown down the rail.

"Aagghh." I screamed in fright. I held on to the rails as hard as I can. Dainne's hand were now on my neck. "D-Dianne… *cough* stop…"

"If you did not exist, then Seph will be mine…" Dianne said with raging eyes. "… mine alone."

"*cough cough*… don't do this." I begged while. I held her hands and tried to pry them away. "Dianne…"

I was now thinking of Shawn. My baby boy who's waiting for me back at the mansion. He was waiting for me to bring out his birthday cake, to let him blow his candle and to kiss him a happy birthday.

"Die!" Dianne raged on.

Then I felt my one hand that was holding the railing slipped. I felt my body fell backwards. When I felt I was falling, I held on tight to Dianne's hand that I was holding before and pulled her with me. I heard her scream after.

The next thing I knew is that both of us were dangling on the balcony holding on tight on the railings.

"H-HELP!" Dianne was clearly distressed. "Someone… anyone, please help!"

Not long we heard someone opening the hotel door.

"Dianne?" A voice I know so well called out. It was Joseph's.

"H-Here!" Dianne called out loudly. "I'm here. Please help, Seph!"

When Joseph heard the alarmed voice of Dianne, he ran fast towards us.

"Dianne!" Joseph was surprised to see her dangling on the blacony railing. But he was much more surprised to see me with her. "Y-Yvette?!"

"Help me up, Seph!" Dianne begged.

"Okay, hold on." Joseph hurried to us.

"Seph…" I looked at him. "Please help me."

"Hold on…" Joseph said in a hurry. "I will first pull Dianne up." He said while looking at me.

Joseph choice shattered my heart which was already broken. He had chosen to pull Dianne up first. When Iooked at him pulling her up made my heart ache immensely.

Joseph pulled off his coat and wrapped it carefully around Dianne's shoulder. Her robe was taken off sometime in our fight and she was only wesring a thin silk dress over her sexy lingerie. His gesture towards her was my last straw. I have been enduring his coldness in all the years we have been married, and seeing him lovingly care for his ex's pushed me to the pits of death.

Joseph and my eyes met for the last time. I did not know what kind of face I was making, but I can see the horror in Joseph's face.

'Good.' I thought to myself. 'I hope you remember this all your life.'

Then I let go of the railing that I was holding on for dear life.

"YVETTE!" I heard Joseph scream.

I can feel my body plunging. The last thing I saw was Joseph's face looking at me with a shocked and frightened face on the railing of the hotel balcony with an outstretched arm towards me.

I stretched my arm to him, not wishing to hold his hand but as a gesture that I am saying goodbye.

"Goodbye, my dear stepbrother, my husband." I said softly. "If there is something I regret, that is deciding to marry you. Shawn, my sweet little boy… I am sorry. Mommy can't come home."

My tears were streaming out of the air while I was feeling. The heavy feeling in my heart that I have been feeling since the time I married Joseph was as last lifted. I felt light as a feather while falling to my end.
