Chapter Thirty-three

Earlier that day at Walter's residence.

Chris regrets not telling Bella that he had met her mum six years ago after he had a conversation with Bianca.

Chris remembered how Bella's mum was so pissed when he explained what had happened to her. She was really mad at him, mad at Austin, mad at Bianca and above all she was really mad at her daughter but their was nothing she could have done to Bella because of what happened to her.

Chris was positive that her brothers resents him because of what happened coupled with the fact that collected her car when they met again.

He knew everyone saw him as an heartless jerk because he had the habit of acting cold towards everyone but that wasn't the case for Chris. He became cold after the whole Bella situation because for the first time Bella became the only thing he wanted so badly but couldn't have.

He used to be a playboy who doesn't like sleeping with the same woman twice. I was the the one night stand kinda guy but when he had a one night stand with Bella I felt something for the first time.

He had tried countless times to go out with other women but it didn't work because all he saw was Bella. Chris mum became so worried at a point that she would set him up with different women on blind dates but he didn't go talk less of seeing any of the women.

Chris really hated commitment so he had always preferred to keep it casual. He also had the habit of not bringing women to his talk less of letting them into his room.

The first woman Chris  brought to his house aside his Mum and his sister's was Bella and that was almost a year ago when he had got her kidnapped.

Looking back at the way he handled things he believes Bella must really hate him.

Bella's mum Vera was really curious about what Bella knew and how she found out that she had lost her memory so he had to explain to her.

Vera asked the twins to excuse them so she could talk to Chris

"So tell me Chris how did she find out?" Vera asked with a frown.

"Am sure you must have triggered it. Ella has always been very inquisitive when it comes to things she doesn't know and this was the main reason why I kept her away from you." Vera said with a frown

"Bella is no longer a kid and I think it's only right for you, for us to be honest with her. She needs to know. Don't you think it'll be unfair for her not to know?" Chris said with a shurg with got Vera more furious than she was.

"I know Ella is no longer a kid but she's still my daughter and I know what's best for her so we won't be talking about it anymore and stay the hell away from my daughter." Vera said with a frown which made Chris chuckle when he heard Vera saying he should stay away with Bella which he knew was impossible.

"Do you think this is funny." Vera asked with a glare.

"It's not funny at all but it's just funny that you thought I'd be able to stay away from Bella." Chris said.

" But you stayed away from her for good six years so you should keep staying away." Vera sneered.

"Ella has a very bright future ahead of her and I don't want a man like you to destroy her future." Vera said with a glare.

"I know she's your daughter and it's only right for you to want to protect her but if you're been honest with yourself, you're not protecting her by hiding the truth from her especially now that she knows she had lost her memory and if you're worried that I told her about what happened six years ago because I wanted something from it then you are wrong. I told her because she deserved to know.  What I feel for Christal is real and won't force her to do anything she doesn't want to do. "

"What?! You told her, you fucking told her?" Vera asked with wide eyes coming to the realisation that Chris actually told her.

"No Aunt Vera I didn't tell her initially. she figured it out on her own so I had to explain to her. Although I can't say am innocent. Am part of the reasons she figured it out that she had lost her memory because I had asked her if she remembered me or not." Chris explained

"Why would you ask her that stupid question you selfish jerk. Didn't you even think about the adverse effect it could have on her." Vera asked very furious.

"I did, honestly I did, I tried really hard to stay away from her , I tried so hard not to ever mention it . That's why it took me six years to find my way back to her. I could have looked for her all this while if I wanted to but I didn't because I was holding myself back. It was fate that brought us back together and I honestly can't let her go now." Chris replied. He sounded so sincere that Vera saw the sincerity in his eyes.

"So did she say she regained her memory? Vera asked but before Chris could respond she said

"If she did I need to go scold her."  Vera said leaving to go to Bella but Chris held her back before she could move.

"No she hasn't regained her memory but I told her what I knew. I told her how we met and what happened afterwards and I think she's really mad at everyone of you right now because you guys didn't tell her."

"She said she probably would've regained her memory if you guys were helpful and she's really hurt because she doesn't even remember her first time." Chris ended his statement with a smile.

"Oh I guess that explains why she's mad at me then but it wasn't my fault she lost her virginity at seventeen to a total stranger and I had taught her enough to have had the sense not to drink at such a young age. Vera said rolling her eyes.

"She even had a one night stand. What if she had gotten pregnant or what if you were some kind of psycho." Vera said scoffing

"Any time she says mum are you not proud of your virgin daughter, it's always felt like she was piercing iron into my heart. Am just thankful that she's still here with us." Vera said looking back.

"Yes am happy she's here too. Chris said with a smile . Chris reached for Vera's hand.

"Don't be too hard on yourself and don't be had on Bella too I beg of you. She was young and naive. Everything was my fault. I should have known better and I really love Bella. I fall deeply in love with her every single day." Chris said

Vera was crying at this point so Chris pulled her in for a hug.

"I promise to make her happy at all times so please don't hate me and give us a chance." Chris said

Vera released Chris from the hug and said

"If you ever break my daughter heart. I promise you I'll break your balls." She said smiling and sniffing at the same time.

"Okay. I'll keep that in mind." Chris said smiling my ear to ear.

"I need to get back to work now, I have a meeting by twelve and please don't be too hard on Bella."  Chris said

"Okay then. Take care of yourself." Vera said before opening the door for Chris.

"Bye." Chris said

"Bye." Vera replied before closing the door.

At Christian's office

The meeting Chris was supposed to by twelve noon lasted longer than expected due to some issues on one of the recently purchased lands by Hampson international in South Africa meant for a seven star hotel. Luckily they were able to resolve the issue without stress.

Bella was on Chris mind throughout the meeting he picked up his phone immediately the meeting ended and gave her a call.

Although she sounded uninterested but Chris was happy to have heard her voice.
