Chapter Forty nine

Earlier that day.

"You know that's not true." Chris said following Bella but she was too fast. She entered her room and locked the door behind her so Chris couldn't explain himself.

She misinterpreted his words when he said her going to work would have been bad for business if reporters were everywhere.

Chris had not been able to stop the media despite all his efforts to stop all the rumour going on about Bella.

Chris heard Bella open her bathroom door so her stopped knocking and waited for her to come out before he knocked again. Chris made a call to Elliot that he won't be going to work that day.

It's been almost an hour since Chris heard Bella open the bathroom door. He didn't hear her coming out of the bathroom which he found strange.

He was certain that there was no way she could take her bath for an hour. "She's probably on call or in the middle of something." Chris thought to himself.

Chris thought of Bella's mum and her brothers. He knew reporters must still be everywhere around their house. Chris decided to call Vera to know how they were doing although he had  deployed some of his men to protect Bella's family members since the scandal broke out.

Chris dialed Vera's number and she picked on the second ring.

"Hello Christian, how are you, is everything alright, how's Ella." Vera asked worried.

"Good morning Aunt, am fine and Bella is fine too. Am sorry for bringing Bella and your whole family into this mess." Chris said

"You don't have to apologise. The scandal was inevitable. I expected it long enough." Vera replied

"Am glad you understand ma." Chris said

"How's is Ella, how is she holding up? Have not been able to reach her at all. Have called her severally but no response." Vera said. Worry evident in her voice.

"We actually had a misunderstanding this morning because I asked her not to go to work. She got mad because I called her boss." Chris said scratching his head

"You should know Ella is very sensitive to things like that. She's already stressed because of the whole scandal and you calling on her behalf was like rubbing salt on her injury." Vera said

"She won't even open the door. She's been in the bathroom for over an hour already. I thought she was on call with you." Chris told Vera

"No, she's probably on call with Bianca." Vera said

"Brax, Vera called out

"Yes mum." Kayden replied.

"Call Bianca, I want to know if she's on call with your sister." Vera told Kayden.

Chris waited so she could know if Bella had spoken to Bianca this morning.

"Put the phone on speaker." Vera told Kayden

Chris couldn't hear what Bianca was saying but soon heard Vera's voice.

"Bianca said she hasn't spoken to her yet. She was really concerned because she has also been trying Bella's number but she hasn't been answering her phone." Vera told Chris.

Chris decided to knock harder on the door but there was no luck.

Chris immediately asked claret to fetch him the master key. He was surprised when he heard the water running.

Chris opened the bathroom door and met the shocker of his life.

Bella had passed out in the bathtub , the water was at the verge of covering her nose. Chris quickly carried her out of the bathtub . Claret immediately covered her body with a towel .

Chris heard a sound from his phone. He didn't even notice that he had not drop the call with Vera .

"Text me your address now." Vera said in a firm voice .

"I'll send someone to pick you up, it's not safe to drive. There are paparazzi everywhere." Chris said

"Make it fast." Vera said before hanging up.

Chris immediately called one of his drivers to pick Vera.

He noticed Bella was burning up seriously and decided to cover her. He gave claret one of his shirt and a short to get Bella dressed in. Chris knew she might not be comfortable if she wakes up to find out that Chris had clothed her.

Chris quickly rushed downstairs to get a bowl for Bella so he could calm her temperature with a towel.

Chris heard his phone ring. It was his mum calling.

"Hello mum." Chris greeted.

"Hey son, how are you? I just saw the news about you and one lady named Christabella Walter." Cassandra said

"Yes mum. I don't know how the news broke out but everything they said about her was all lies." Chris said confidently

"The lady probably tipped off the media. What does she want?" Cassandra asked.

"Mum Bella would never do that. She's not like that." Chris said

"You trust people easily Chris , don't be stupid. Women would do anything for attention, I mean this is not the first or second time you're dealing with this type of scandal. Am just surprised that you haven't released a statement since yesterday." Cassandra said

"Mum I haven't released a statement because Bella and I are actually a thing." Chris explained

"I reject her for you in Jesus name. She's from a middle class family Christian." Cassandra exclaimed

"Mum I don't care. I love her and that's what matters so stop been so dramatic please." Chris said.

"Is she pregnant? Is she trying to tie you down with that?" Cassandra asked

"God No, Mum No she's not pregnant. I met her even before I became a billionaire mum." Chris said

"But she didn't date you then. Why did she approach you now that you're a billionaire. The news said she approached you by hitting your car and even went to your company." Cassandra said.

"Mum, she didn't do all that with an ulterior motive. You should know better than anyone that not everything you see on the internet is true." Chris said.

"Let him be honey." Chris heard Dad Fredrick's voice .

"Hi Dad." Chris greeted.

"Hey son, don't let what your mum said get to you , middle class or low class , what matters is that you love each other." Frederick said

"Thanks Dad." Chris said

"I'll love to meet this girl that stole my boy's heart soon." Frederick said laughing

"No Fred, that's not happening." Cassandra countered.

"Hey Chris." Chris heard his sister Hailey's voice

Chris was surprised to have heard Hailey's voice because he wasn't expecting to hear her voice. She moved to Los Angeles two years ago after she got married.

"Hi Hailey, you didn't tell me you're back in London and How's Seb?" Chris said

"Seb is fine and am not in London. Mum and Dad came visiting, they didn't tell you?" Hailey asked

"He's always busy to talk. I wonder how he gave us audience for this long today." Cassandra said.

"Am sorry mum. I'd try to change." Chris said

"You've said that over two hundred times now." Frederick said laughing.

"I'd  like to meet your girlfriend soon. I want to know how she managed to steal my big brothers heart." Hailey said smile

"I don't want to meet her." Cassandra said

"But I want to." Hailey said with a puppy face.

"I want to meet her as well." Frederick said

"That's two against one." Hailey said in excitement hi fiving Frederick with a smile.

"Sorry honey." Frederick said kissing Cassandra on the cheek.

Chris heard a car come into the compound. He knew it had to be Bella's mum.

"Okay guys have got to go. I'll call you guys later." Chris said before dropping the call.
