Chapter 47: Another Day, Another Portal

As we exited the hall, I questioned Luke and Zara about the raven and Poe. They had left my poor handmaiden chasing the bird around the room, with Poe insisting she would take care of the situation.

"Can we keep him? Like, as a pet in this realm? We can come and visit, right?"

"Yes, Luke," I laughed. "But the raven stays here."

It was quite the caravan setting out to the portal two days later. The three silver knights, who had been my friends from the very beginning, flanked me on Purity. Roe accompanied us by driving the cart with Randal, Sarah, Zara, Luke, and Poe. The raven, who now had the name of Jinx Poe said, perched eagerly on the back of Roe's seat. He was receiving heaps of attention from those in the cart, including a good share of treats. Blue Hood drove the remaining cart of police and army personnel, and they passed the time swamping stories. The laugher rolling from that cart made the rest of us cast an amused look between ourselves for the duration of the trip.
