Chapter 6: Bunny Encounter

Eijun was standing in a crowded area. He didn't like places like this, but the young man didn't have a choice to come.

Eijun was relaxing at home with Rio when there was a knock on his door. When Eijun looked through the peephole, he saw a familiar face.

Haruichi's older brother was there, but when Eijun opened the door, Haruichi was behind the older brother.

"Can I help you?" Eijun said not to sound awkward

There was a smile on Ryosuke's face, and Haruchi was fidgeting.

"We want to take you somewhere," Ryosuke said.

"Somewhere?" Eijun didn't like the sound of that.

"I heard you been busy, but I'm sure you have time to spend some time with us."

Eijun did tell Haruichi that he would make up to him for not being around lately. But he didn't feel like going right, and Eijun had other things he needed to deal with.

"Ei-chan, are you okay?" Rio popped his head to see who Eijun was speaking to. Rio has started calling Eijun by his nickname since it's much easier for him.

"Who's this little boy?" Ryosuke asked. Even Haruichi was surprised by the appearance of the child.

"His friend's brother."

"You have friends," Ryosuke said, hurting Eijun where it hurts.

"It's not like you two are the only ones I hang out with." That was another lie, but he had to make the two believe him. Eijun didn't know how to explain Rio since he wasn't an average person.

Eijun was glad that Rio had his ears hid. He's happy that Rio understood when to show up with or without ears and tail.

"He can come too then."

And that's how Eijun was in the amusement park. Rio looked like he was having fun. He stared at everything they walked by with a happy expression on his face.

"Ei-chan, are you having fun?" Rio asked. "It looks like you don't like being here."

"No, I'm happy to be here with you." Eijun put on a smile on his face so Rio could tell.

"I'm glad," Rio said.

Rio then saw something else that caught his attention.

"Ei-chan, let's go there!" The boy grabbed Eijun by the hand, and they ran off. The boy had a lot of energy.

They went to the place that caught Rio's attention. They were selling cotton candy, and the colour made the boy curious.

"Would you like some cotton candy?" Eijun asked.

"Can I?"

"Of course." Eijun smiled.

Not far, the brothers were standing watching them.

"Was it okay to bring Eijun out like this? It looked like he had other things to do."

"I'm sure he didn't, but look at the guy now." His brother was right. The young man was having fun, and he had a smile on his face.

Ryosuke was curious about the child that Eijun had with him. He knew that Eijun had lied to them on the spot. The older man wanted to know what the young man was hiding, but it was none of his business, and if he did a background check, Eijun would probably be angry at him. Ryosuke doesn't want to have a problem with another little brother.

Ryosuke can still remember when he and Haruichi had a fight, and it's not something he liked.

They saw Eijun coming toward them with cotton candy in his hand while another was with Rio.

"Do you want some?" Eijun asked.

Rio's eyes caught something else in his eyes. Ryosuke then grinned an idea popped in his head.

"Rio-chan, would you like to see that?"

"Yes!"

"Let me take the boy." Before Eijun could say anything, Ryosuke and Rio disappeared at the speed of light.

"He did that on purpose." Haruichi was angry at his older brother for doing something like that.

"Are you not having any?" Eijun asked.

"I will have some," Haruichi said.

Eijun got a little closer to Haruichi so he could take the cotton candy. At that moment, Haruichi couldn't believe how close they were and how cute Eijun looked.

"Is something wrong?" EIjun asked. The pink-haired was stuck, frozen on the spot.

"Sorry. I was zoning out." Haruichi didn't know why he was acting strange. His cheeks were getting hot from being this close to Eijun. He never felt anything like this.

"Are you sick?" Eijun touched the young man with his right on his forehead, pushing his bangs up. "You sure have pretty eyes," EIjun said. Those words made Haruichi's face brighter.

"I'm fine," Haruichi said, turning away from EIjun.

Haruichi finally got to meet Eijun after so long, and he acts stupid like this.

"You know, I always thought that you had pretty eyes. The closer I look, I know I was right."

"Do you like seeing my eyes?" Haruichi asked.

"Yes."

Those words made Haruichi happy.

Eijun then noticed there was a bruise on Haruichi's right hand. It didn't look normal.

"How did this happened?" Eijun asked about the mark.

"Ah, this. I made a mistake at the workshop." Eijun felt Haruichi was lying, but he didn't ask about it.

"Can I see your hand?" Eijun asked.

Haruichi was surprised but nodded his head.

Eijun gently held the young man's hand and touched. When they felt, there was a static shock. It was not the standard shock you get from sweaters or even shaking someone's hand. It was different.

Haruichi let got right away, realizing what happened.

"We're back," Ryosuke announced. The older brother realizes something was wrong. Haruichi looked uncomfortable, and Eijun looked confused, but neither said anything.

"I'm going to take a walk with Rio," EIjun said.

EIjun took hold of Rio's hand, and they left the two brothers.

"What happened?" Ryosuke asked once Eijun was gone with Rio.

"My power opened up when I connected my hands with Eijun."

"What?" Ryosuke was confused as to why that would happen.

"It's strange. I mean, this has never happened to anybody before."

Ryosuke began to wonder about their friend and think that maybe there was something that he was hiding like they are.

Eijun and Rio were walking like any normal kid would with a parent. It felt like Rio was somebody like a family to him.

"Rio, how do you like it today?"

"It's fun." Rio smiled.

They were, but suddenly Eijun stopped. He felt a powerful aura. It was familiar, yet he couldn't pinpoint from where.

Eijun looked straight ahead, and there was a mascot pink bunny standing across from him. Eijun couldn't tell if it was staring at him, but the aura was coming from the bunny. It felt like the world was destroyed. Only Eijun and that person were left on the planet.

Everything felt empty in a black universe.

Eijun's leg started to move, wanting to know who was behind the costume.

"What are you doing?" Rio spoke up, making Eijun shake out of his own world.

"Sorry, I wasn't thinking." When Eijun looked to where the bunny was, but it was gone now.

Even after they were reunited with the two brothers, Eijun couldn't stop thinking about the bunny.

The day ended, and Eijun and Rio said goodbye to them and headed home.

Haruichi didn't talk to him about the shock and acted his usual self.

Kazuya took off the bunny costume the moment he got home. The man didn't think that he would see Eijun when he decided to help his friend with his job.

"If I hadn't taken that human's offer, I wouldn't see him."

Kazuya didn't know if it was a good thing or bad.

"It seems that he could sense my power." Kazuya shoved his hair back from the sweat wearing the costume.

It's not like Kazuya doesn't want to see Eijun. He wants to so bad, but right now, he can't. There are things that he needed to do. And Eijun doesn't even remember him, so it's right not to see him for now. Even though he warned the others not to do, they still end up meeting EIjun.

"Today was an accident. I won't see him again."

Kazuya opened his desk drawer, and he took out the picture. It was the same one that EIjun had, and one of the children was crossed out.

He glared at the boy that was crossed out.

"How dare you do this to me!" He yelled in anger.

The door opened to Kazuya's room, and Akira walked in.

"I see you in a bad mood."

Akira then saw the picture that Kazuya was holding and understood the reason why.

"It's been years, and your still not over it."

"I will never forgive him. He betrayed us and because of it."

"I get it. Ei-chan had to do those experiments to protect us."

Kazuya wanted to be with Eijun like when they were kids but also not. They didn't have a good childhood.

"I saw him a few days ago."

"What?"

"It's not like I went to see him, but Ei-chan was just there when I was doing my task."

"You mean to that tower."

"Yes," Akira answered.

"He also met Reon. I can't say it was a pleasure meeting." Akira sighed, just thinking about that day.

Kazuya knew how crazy Reon was.

"There something I found out when I saw him."

"What's that?"

"I smell blood on him. Human blood, and it wasn't just one."

"What?" Kazuya didn't like the sound of this. "Is the past repeating itself without us doing anything?"

"We can't be sure since Ei-chan was there to save somebody."

Kazuya thought that if they left Eijun alone for now that nothing would happen. He hoped that Eijun had nobody to protect as he protected them as kids.

"Has living with the normal make him want to protect them."

"That could be it," Akira said.

"I saw him earlier. But I didn't smell the blood maybe because I was far away from him."

"You saw him."

"I was working," Kazuya said.

Akira then noticed the bunny costume that was put to the side.

"Oh, that job," Akira said, not sure how to respond.

"I know you're laughing inside."

"Sorry, but I can't help it. Our leader doing something like that." Akira chuckled.

"So did you get what I asked you to."

"Yes. I put in that room."

"Good."

"I have one more task to do, so I'll head out now." Akira left the room.

Kazuya touched the necklace that he was wearing. The pendant was something he got as a kid, and Eijun had a similar one since Eijun was the one to give to him.

He remembers it like yesterday.

"What's this?" Kazuya was surprised when Eijun handed him a pendant with a sun symbol.

"I wanted to give you a present. I have one too." EIjun showed Kazuya his, which was a moon symbol.

Kazuya was happy that he got a gift like this from Eijun.

"We will always be together," Eijun said. "So no matter what happens, remember me by it."

Kazuya sighed, thinking about the happy memory of the past.

Eijun doing some research when Rio noticed the necklace around EIjun's neck.

"What's that?" Rio asked.

Eijun touched the moon pendant. Forgetting that he was wearing one. The moment he thought about a flashback appeared in his head with the child from the photo with glasses.

"It's something important to me." Eijun didn't know why but he knew it was special.

Eijun felt that his memories were going to come back soon. He wanted his memories, but something told him that having them will not do any good.

His phone rang. Eijun looked at the number.

"It's Mima." He said.

Eijun picked up the call from the man.

"Hello." He spoke.

"Oh Ei-chan, there something that I found out."

"It's about the experiments."

"Yes. And you will not like what I found out."

"What is it?"

"It's better if I told you in person. It has to do with the twins as well."

Eijun had a bad feeling about the news.

"I'll meet you tomorrow at your place," Eijun said.

"Okay. See you."

The call ended.

Eijun would have gone to meet Mima right away, but he didn't want to leave right now when Rio looked like he wanted to spend more time with him.

Eijun didn't know the news that he would find out would make him remember everything.
