Challenges of becoming a King

After killing all the Thenn Warriors in sight Val, Dalla, and Thorell freed the captured villagers in the village and brought them back to Hardhone. Even the injured ones were brought back since they could be healed by Thornir.

The trip back took about 2 hours and by this time it was nighttime, but luckily they made it back before it got too dark.

All the villagers were allowed inside the Keep as they stayed in what could be called the courtyard of the keep.

The injured were laid down on the ground to rest while Val went to get Thornir who was in the keep with some of the children.

While walking through the halls of the keep Val had heard Thornir talking with the kids of the Village as he was telling a story.

She was interested in hearing it, so she leaned closer to the wall to hear what he was saying.

Thornir of course knew she was right there, but he continued with his story.

"Then the wolf said that he would huff and puff and blow the little pig's house down. But the pig thought that his house was too strong to be knocked down so what did the big bad wolf do" Asked Thornir to the Kid

All the kids at the same time answered since they already heard what the pig did to the first pig's house "HE Huffed, and he puffed and blew Mr. pig's house down" answered all the kids

"And Mr. Pig's house came tumbling down since it was made out of sticks so now Both of the pigs ran to the third pig's house which was made out of brick" Said Thornir

"What's a brik" Asked one of the kids

"It's pronounced 'Brick', and it is way stronger than building a house out of sticks, and it can even protect against lightning, rain and any predators trying to get you" Explained Thornir

"But back to the story, the big bad wolf threatened to huff and puff and blow the third pigs house down but what did the third pig say to him" Asked Thornir to the kids

The kids all responded with smiles on their faces "Not by the hair of my chin, chin, chin" Responded the kids

Thornir smiled since they forgot to say chinny, but they were still kids, and they would learn soon enough.

"So the wolf huffed, and he puffed, and he tried to blow the house down, but the house didn't get blown down, in fact it didn't even move, so the wolf tried again, and it still didn't work.

The pigs were inside the brick house eating and relaxing as the wolf couldn't get inside, so the wolf ran away and left the pigs alone to find some other food to eat"

All the kids started cheering since the three little pigs were safe. And they wanted to hear another story but Thornir knew that something important had come up, so he unfortunately told them that he would tell them a story another time.

Some of the kids were a little sad, but they still couldn't wait until he told them more stories, so they all decided to wait to hear more stories from Thornir.

Thornir had walked out of the room surprising Val who was too caught up in the story she just heard.

"Ummm Thornir I didn't even hear you coming out of the room since I just got here" Said Val since she almost jumped at the sudden appearance of Thornir

"I knew you were here the whole time so just tell me what happened with the Thenn's" Asked Thornir

Val turned here head since she was a little angry that he didn't call her out and just let here listen in "You could have at least told me to come in instead of letting me stay out here like I was spying on you" Said Val as she couldn't even look at Thornir right now

"Fine I'm sorry" Said Thornir even though he doesn't know why he was the one apologizing when she was technically spying, but he wasn't going to say that out loud

But Val still ignored him and didn't even look at him.

"Come on Val I apologized already right so just forgive me already"

Val waited a couple seconds as she was thinking about something "Fine, but you have to do anything I ask of you"

Thornir's lip twitched slightly hearing this since he never did anything wrong to begin with, but he still just accepted since he could see that she wasn't going to let this go.

"Fine" Responded Thornir

Val jumped up in excitement for a couple of seconds before she stopped as Thornir was looking at her. She cleared her throat hoping Thornir wouldn't think of her as weird.

"But anyway I will tell you what I want you to do later but for now some of the villagers that we brought back need to be healed in the courtyard" Said Val

"You should have been told me that to begin with" Said Thornir as he dashed off to the courtyard leaving Val behind.

Once at the Courtyard Thornir started to heal everybody that was injured, surprising the people injured and the other villager's.

The Elder's who had just been saved had started prostrating themselves on the ground before Thornir.

Thornir looked at them and asked "Why are you guys on the ground like that get up" Said Thornir

The Elder's didn't get up and only raised their heads slightly "But you were sent here by the Gods were you not" Asked the Elder's

Thornir knew what this meant if he responded with yes. People will start worshiping him and calling him the one chosen by the Gods which wasn't a bad thing as it will actually be beneficial.

On the other hand if he denies it then they will probably still say that he is chosen by the gods and just claim that he didn't know.

So no matter what he says it's a win-win situation for him.

"Yes you could say that I was chosen by the gods" Said Thornir since he was sent here by a God as for being chosen he didn't know anything about that.

Once he said this most of the Wildlings started praising the gods for sending them a savior.

Seeing this Thornir couldn't tell whether this was going to be a good thing or is it going to get annoying since he was not a very religious person in his previous world so hearing people start worshiping him all of a sudden felt kind of good but if they did this everyday he would probably start to get annoyed.

But as a Future King he would need to deal with things like this, so instead he sees this a challenge instead of an annoyance.

As a person who has never had noble status before this is a first experience for him, but he read lots of history books and watched lots of documentaries to know that becoming a King is a lot of work, and it comes with a lot of responsibilities.

And some of those responsibilities include dealing with annoying things.

While this was going on in the Courtyard Val and Dalla were talking somewhere in the keep about something.

"So he will do anything you ask of him" asked Dalla

"Yep he said anything even that so all we need is for the right time to do it" Said Val

Dalla was too excited after hearing that "I can't wait for that day to come"

Val agreed since she too cannot wait.
