Chapter 02: The Beginning of My Journey

Crocodile began to prepare for his journey. He bought the necessary stuff to support himself such as food, weapons, and a map.

"Greetings. I need some swords and guns for hunting," said Crocodile as he entered a weapon shop. Of course, he didn't say his real intention to be a pirate. That would make him get caught by the Marines officers since he was currently in Logue Town.

"Yes, we have many weapons. Do you want to look at them first?"

"Yes, I do. Make sure that you provide the best versions of them."

The weapon shop owner took out the best weapons that he had and offered them to Crocodile. The black-haired pirate chose them carefully, ensuring that he wouldn't choose the poor-quality ones.

"Alright. I'll take them all," said Crocodile after he chose his weapons. "How much are they?"

"Twenty thousand berries, Sir."

"Here is the money."

"Thank you, Sir."

"You're welcome. I hope these weapons may be useful for me."

After that, he thought of buying some food in a restaurant. However, he canceled his plan since entering a restaurant with some weapons in his hands would surely raise suspicion from the people.

'I guess. I may get the food and map in the other place. I just remembered that I still had some food and beverages on my ship.'

As a result, he went to his ship and sailed to Grand Line. After taking the journey of three days, he managed to reach a place named Foolshout Island. Since the place looked like a normal place, Crocodile decided to anchor there without any hesitation.

There, Crocodile was welcomed by the local citizens. He introduced himself as an animal-hunter. Of course, he didn't talk about his real intention to become a pirate. It might give him the risk of being caught by the Marines.

Crocodile's beginning intention was only to buy food. But he was interrupted by a voice in his mind several times. He later defined that the voice was the system that existed inside himself after he entered the One Piece world. 

At first, Crocodile tried to ignore that voice. But every time he desired to know about his history, the voice came back to his mind. At last, he decided to temporarily dwell on that place to reflect on that voice.

'Take your time to meditate, Crocodile. I will tell you about who I am and how I can help you.'

Crocodile looked for a quiet place to practice what the voice instructed. Afterward, he sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and began his meditation.

'The voice that came to my mind, can you tell me who are you?' asked Crocodile in his mind.

'I am The System. I am in your body since you entered One Piece world.'

'Why are you in my body?'

'Simple. I want to help you.'

'What kind of help that you want to provide?'

'Anything. I will provide you with power, abilities, items, and various techniques.'

'Then, why do you always call me when I think about my history?'

'That's because I want to help you acquire your past memories. It is important for your journey.'

'If that is the case, then please help me do research about my history.'

The system did its job to conduct research about Crocodile's history. Within a short time, it managed to acquire the data that its host wanted.

Based on the system's research, Crocodile was born and lived in Kuen Village, North Blue. He was very poor during his childhood.

When he reached 18 years old, Crocodile decided to become a great pirate. He wanted to escape poverty after his parents deceased. So, he sailed abroad.

At some point, Crocodile met Mihawk in Grand Line. Through a joint battle against the other pirates, Crocodile befriended Mihawk. Being amazed at Mihawk's ability, Crocodile offered him to join his pirate group, but Mihawk declined that offer.

Afterward, Crocodile continued to improve his ability to survive in Grand Line. Because of this, he won many battles and gained some popularity.

Unfortunately, Crocodile lost his left arm in a battle. Then, he clashed with Whitebeard Pirates, and he lost. Because of that series of unluckiness, he decided to come back to East Blue and reside in Logue Town until Roger's execution. 

After knowing his history, Crocodile ended the meditation session. He was going to look for more information about the system inside his body. But for now, he needed to have his lunch since he was hungry already.
