"Do you recall what transpired fifteen years ago?"
------------
"Maxim? Do you want me to help change the bandages for you?" Julian's voice was heard outside the bathroom door after a series of knocks.
"No, dear, I can do it myself, thank you."
Inside the bathroom, Maximillian wiped his body dry and re-tied the white bandages around his non-existent wounds.
The alpha stared at his reflection in the mirror, partially obscured by the curtain of condensed vapor.
A quick blood analysis on his side did not contain traces of the genetic modifications typically associated with a successful Third Evolution.
Apparently, he did not ingest Drug X or Y at all.

On the other hand, he was perplexed.
He did not know what was going on, and he did not like it one bit.
Then again, there was no need to ruin Julian's birthday vacation by mulling over this inexplicable phenomenon.
