Chapter Seventeen

Odysseus was leading us down a staircase with no railing to the lower level. We had to teleport to the entrance, which was guarded, and then head down the steps. Nikkos had made the mistake of looking down and had gripped my hand tightly and I couldn’t help letting out a little chuckle. Nikkos could fight to the death for me fearlessly but was apparently scared of heights. He growled at me for laughing but I still held his hand behind me as we descended down the steps, Odysseus having no problem.

It seemed like the lower we went the more a foul smell reached our nose and Odysseus seemed to not notice or care about it. I couldn’t just place the smell with just one thing because it was a mix and that’s what made it so bad. By the time we reached the bottom of the steps and the guards opened the door down there, the smell hit even harder and it took everything in me not to gag.

“It smells bad down here.” Nikkos bluntly said as he frowned and looked around the lobby area we were in.
