As the enormous wolf heaved up and threw all the burning wood and debris into the air, Elise collapsed to the ground. Even with the ability to turn its body into stone, the wolf howled in pain, as they had dealt much of the damage the beast had ever felt for a long time.
"Back off," Ulysses told Elise as he lunged at the monster from its hindsight, plunging his sword into its lower body.
Ulysses already dealt heavy damage to its rear feet, but it still managed to spin in time to face him. His sword missed the mark, snipping its side, barely dealing any damage to the stone skin.
Ulysses backed away and pulled a swift backflip, but the beast wasn't going to give up that easily. It lunged at him, its maw opening to take a bite off his head.
