Rescue

"Come on, boys," Ulysses called, hearing the wailing. With the fire and smoke obscuring his vision, he could barely make out anything, crawling forward, overtaking the huge wolf's body. 

As he trudged forward, the wailing of cubs got louder in his ears, leading him to think he was on the right path. 

"Come on, little cubs, come to your momma," Rin called, coughing through the smoke. "I'm sorry, I killed your momma. . . Or daddy? Well, you can put the blame on Luke, it was his great idea to collapse the house on top of your guardian." 

There was barely any air left with the burning. Rin figured he would barely be able to stay half a minute more, though he was unsure how long the fire would take to burn his defence away. It was less than half a minute as far as he was concerned.

Crawling with everything he had, Ulysses finally came across what he was looking for. Two little snow-white cubs, snuggling together, too fearful of the fire to creep around.
