Apocalypse shelter - Swarg

A nobody who had barely done enough to survive in the apocalypse is killed and reborn a day before the apocalypse begins. Unlike other stories he had read, the apocalypse he faced was truly a cruel one. With a much more simple system and little to no help from that, he has already witnessed the state in which the humans had once been reduced to. Can he get up once again and face his nightmare? If he can, does he have the ability to change the bleak future that awaits humans. Warning : Not an overly fast evolving world like most apocalyptic novel. Everyone will have to fight with everything they have to progress and survive. The M.C. will have a higher growth rate but do not expect him to be overpowered.

PROLOGUE

As I looked around myself in my final moments, all that was visible was the rubble that was left behind of my own little piece of Swarg that I had built after countless hardships in this hellish world.

The funny thing was that other than me there was no other human in my shelter. During normal times, there was no need for any major power to attack me. There was just nothing beneficial for them even if they did destroy me.

At this moment in the world, the resources had already been divided by the major powers of the world and the few remaining small shelter owners were just surviving on a day-to-day basis. I too had been one of those small shelter owners. I relied on selling my loot in the nearest city shelter to survive. Since I was a shelter owner, I had some privileges even in the city and after so long I was able to live relatively comfortably.

It had just been a month since I received a life changing opportunity after ranking tenth on the zombie kills rankings. I was happy that now I could have a little bit of ambition to rise above my current status, but I had still underestimated the greed of people in these chaotic times. This is what led to my current condition.

The one who killed me in the end was just a minion of the city shelter owner. It was a sad end to my life. I, however had no regret of the life I had lived. Afterall, I was one of the lucky one percent to have a chance of evolving after the apocalypse arrived. I was one of the lucky ten percent of shelter owners who still had their own shelters even after eight years of the apocalypse.

Considering the lack of courage I had shown at the start of this apocalypse it was truly a miracle that I had achieved as much as I had.

The reason I felt that my ending was sad was because this was the first time in eight years that I had started to show some ambition in this apocalyptic world.

I closed my eyes for the final time.

Or so I thought....
