A new pet

6th day evening : Inside the base :

Inside the medic building a soldier was being interrogated ,

After a while

' It was unfortune '

The Captain said in a low voice .

The soldier explained that they arrived at the mall and while scavenging for supplies gunshots were heard at the spot where Mark had gone to clear . The whole squad rushed over there and saw a large lizard like creature engaged in a battle with Mark . It was the same creature that was captured by Siyam. When the lizard saw the soldiers rushing to help it's prey ,It lead out a sharp shriek and ran from the battle. Mark wanted to chase the monster but about hundred zombies were seen rushing inside the Mall and the squad was forced to call for backup and fend off the mutated ones for the time being.

They were engaged in battle for a while and then retreated to wait for the backup to arrive.

But the lizard monster cameout of nowhere and barged into their hiding spot and killed the exhausted soldiers one by one .The soldier somehow survived after it was attacked by the lizards tail but had suffered major injuries and fell unconscious ,the next moment he was inside the room along with two doctors .

It was a devastating blow to the base for the entire squad to be slaughtered.

Night came and the new soldiers were getting accustomed to the new base that had greater facilities than the previous ones . All of the new inhabitants were one by one shocked

by the birds that roamed the base some tried to get close to the beautiful creatures while others were wary of them.

Inside the research building that professor had chosen ,Haider along with the Captain were observing the now restrained creature that lead to the deaths of their fellow soldiers. The lizard was chained to to the ground inside a lage room .

"What's the report Professor ?"

Haider said as he saw the professor ,

" This young fellow is a fourth stage mutant " The professor replied ,

Haider then asked what was the professor was talking about to which the professor explained that all the mutated beasts were

categorized into numbers according to their threat levels ,the common ones like rats were level one while the birds like Silver that had small bodies but unique characteristics were level two and then came monsters like Flame, Emerald and Pearl that were much more dangerous ,after that level the professor didn't found any creature having more strength than those except for the alpha three from the war , it was placed at level four but the lizard Haider had brought back from the rescue today was on the same level as Alpha three .

It had tough skin on its back that was no where near damageable by normal rifles and had a great sense of danger but was not giving to be a pet for the professor.

While the professor was explaining

* Ggggrrrrrrr"

A larger tiger like silhout was inside the room with a bald looking bird sitting on its head . It was Pearl along with the newborn named Mark .It got off Pearl and ran towards his said to be father ,Haider held him in his hands and started to see if it was doing well.

"Oh I wanted to tell you that the creature you hatched had some kind of extra ability to communicate towards the huge alligator sized lizard can I examine Mark ?" The professor said with shining eyes ,

Haider nodded and then the professor hurriedly went to mark the small reptile looking bird and held it in his hands .He brought some kind of apparatus and did some kind of measurements on the little creature while Mark looked at his dad like saying

---- What did i do to deserve this ?----

Haider ignored him and then the professor asked to take him to the monster that had woken up after Mark arrived . Haider nodded and then went along with the professor along with Pearl to see the results .

He went and placed mark on top of the lizards head . Mark observed the creature and then also tried to take a bite off him but was faced with disappoint .The lizard looked at the creature that was playing with him with curious eyes.

"What will it do if it got loose ?" The Captain said as he looked at the giant four Meter long lizard .

" I wanna try ,I guess it wouldn't harm Mark if it did had any intention of doing Pearl would drag Mark a long time ago " Haider replied ,

The professor agreed and them the chains were removed but three more soldiers were brought inside the room for further safety .

The chains were removed and Mark was tapping on the creatures sharp teeth that were about several centimetres in length .

Haider stood close to Mark to make sure that he wouldn't be swallowed by the lizard .

After a while

The chains were removed a while ago and the creature didn't showed any sign of hostility towards the little baby playing with it . It just liked him a few time according to the professor it was a sign of affection towards the baby .Everyone was now less tensed now.

Haider thought that the creature was too exhausted but professor denied saying that it was fed once brought inside the lab. After a while Pearl went and dragged Mark back out of the laboratory and went towards the beasts room that was once Haider's own but now was a permanent place for the birds and other beasts .The lizards followed her the soldiers wanted to stop the beast but were stopped by Haider and the professor .

The beast went outside following Pearl and the soldiers and the passerby's were astonished at the huge lizard walking inside the base a woman even screamed seeing the huge creature but the lizards ignored her and quietly followed Pearl.

They followed the beast until it reached where Mark's beast was located and just sat there beside it every birds resting in their cages were confused at first but then just marked the beats as a new neighbour .

The room had it's one wall demolished and was completely opened for one side for the birds to be more free but demolishing the outer wall seemed more useful as half of the lizards body was out of the room.

Haider ordered the Flame to bring fresh meat for the new neighbour and tried to get close to the lizard ,the beast didn't refute and allowed the human that it had a fierce several hours ago fight touch him .

' His name is Croc '

Haider said as he thought that the creature looked like a giant sized crocodile and named it that way .

Flame brought Croc food ,

Professor then started to report about the alpha three as he saw the first matter settled .

" The Alpha three had rough skin and we just peeled it and have it to the workers to bring it to use as we didn't find anything on it " The professor then took out a yellow coloured crystal from his pocket and every creature inside the room started at it with thirst ,Haider took the crystal and sensed a surge of power inside it and gave it back to the professor who refused to take and and offered it to the heads as he didn't had any use of the crystal .

The Captain looked at Haider asking for opinions but from their back.

' Grr '

A faint growl from Croc was heard and Haider just tossed the crystal towards him to see if he had any use of it but instead of consuming it ,Croc gave it to Mark who sluggishly started to lick it .

Haider looked at him and just though he found a crystal consuming monster that had no end to its appetite an sighed . Everyone left the room for the beasts to rest and went to rest as they had more pressing matters the following day .

Haider entered his room and then saw that instead of Bella ,Monica was sitting at the side of the bed ,

" Where is she ?" Haider asked ,

" Just coming she asked me to get something " Monica replied ,

" Why not make the time more useful? " Monica added with a seductive tone,

" Tell me about how your abilities are progressing stop the act it won't be of any use" Haider replied with a dull tone ,
