It didn't take long before Collin was among the crowd again struggling to get to the stalls and view the wares being sold. The real struggle that Collin was having was the items being sold, there were plenty of items that he had no need of today, but in a few months when he did need them, they would be sold out till the following years trade fair.
It was mid-afternoon when Collin was able to visit the last stall. He had purchased a lot of materials, and items for cultivation. He had spent more than he wanted to, but less than he expected. While he was trying not to dwell on his past, he did miss the ability to buy whatever he wanted without having to care about having to pay for it himself.
As he was walking to the restaurant that delivers food to his villa, he noticed that he was being followed by three people but felt a fourth following them. It didn't surprise him, even though he was wearing a faceless servant costume to hide his face, it didn't hide the small stature of a ten-year-old.
Any thief that saw a lone ten-year-old kid spending money like Collin had been doing would have to be stupid not to try and rob him. The three that were following him were between thirteen and fifteen years of age, and were mortals, not cultivators. The one that was following them was a cultivator, most likely guarding the three mortals.
He was the only one that Collin had to worry about, a very quick scan with his divine sense let Collin know that the guard was at the 6th layer of Qi Condensation. Since the man was guarding mortals it most likely meant that he poor rogue cultivator trying to earn a few spirit stones, but Collin wasn't going to let his guard down.
Five minutes after entering the restaurant, Collin walked out with a room reservation for tomorrow from noon to two. He wanted to reserve a small room for his meeting with his cousins, but due to the trade fair he had to reserve the largest room they had. He could only hope the few extra gold coins it cost would be worth it.
The trio had begun following Collin the moment that he exited the restaurant, they weren't even hiding the fact that they were following him. He was beginning to wonder if the reason they were confident in robbing him was because they thought they were strong enough, or if they were relying on their guard, he also wondered if they were just idiots.
Collin headed to one of the areas that he knew the city guard wouldn't be patrolling. During the trade fair the docks, the city center, and the areas were the city's wealthiest residents lived would all be well guarded, while places near the city's slums would be ignored, along with anything that happened there.
"Kid, hand over your valuables and we'll let you live." Said a voice from behind.
They had just entered an unguarded area; Collin had expected to have to wait a bit longer before they made their move.
Collin felt a bit of disgust with them, they were standing next to each other and all three of them were grinning in delight. But with a single phrase those grins change to glares.
"Fuck off or die."
Even though the trio took it as an insult, to Collin it was a kindness to even give them a chance to live.
"Brat, you must not know who I am, there is no noble family in this city that would dare to speak to me like that."
Collin felt even more disgust for this trio, the one who just spoke had a smug look on his face while the two others were looking at him with faces full of pride and devotion.
'They're morons.' Was Collin's simple assessment of this trio.
"Your Jerold Sonne, the second son of the Sonne family, a minor noble family that came to Camis city fifty or so years ago. Your family operates several mines around the territory."
He could have also added that other than his sister, the whole of the Sonne family were considered trash among the nobles of Camis city, but Collin couldn't be bothered to.
"You... who are you?" There was a look of concern now on his face. like he just realized that he picked the wrong target for this bit of fun.
"Death." It was a one-word answer, and the last word two-thirds of the trio would even hear.
Three thin green triangle shaped blades as long and wide a palm appeared next to Collins right hand before flying at the trio. The two followers were hit in the chest, right through heart. Their bodies spun in the air until they landed a dozen feet from where they had been standing. One of the two had been hit so hard that one of his shoes was left behind.
The blade meant for Jerold made a series of 'tinging' sounds as the cultivator that had been following them appeared in front of Jerold and swatted the blade away with a sword causing it to bounce off a wall.
The guard appeared to be in his early twenties, he wore a light gray jacket that most rogue cultivators wore. He held a long sword with a deep curve in the blade ready to strike or defend at a moment's notice. The guard tried to scan Collin with his divine sense but was blocked by inscription on the mask.
"You forgot about the other two blades." Collin said in a calm voice.
The two blades in the chests of the followers dislodged themselves and flew towards Jerold, striking him from behind in the heart and the base of the skull.
The guard turned just in time for Jerold's lifeless body fall to the ground.
With the guard's attention on the body of his charge, Collin pulled his sword from his space ring and used the Heaven Shattering Steps to appear next to the guard and slashed downwards at the point where the neck and shoulder meet. Sensing danger the guard blocked Collin's sword with his own, and then began trying to press Collin back.
The guard's eyes stared at Collin with absolute rage, rage at failing to protect his charge, rage at losing the money he was supposed to get, and rage at failing because a ten-year-old.
"Damn you!" he roared.
"I'm going to kill you, I'm going to rip you to pieces, you're going to scream in agony till I get tired of hearing you beg for death, are you afraid, are you afraid now?" The guard screamed at Collin.
"No, I just hope he kills you quietly." Collin replied.
The guard's eyes went wide as the words Collin had just said to him sank in.
'He... I hope kills you'
The guard was about to scan the area with his divine sense when he felt something grab his upper body. He felt like he was being crushed, he also felt like he was being stabbed in his chest and back. He wanted to scream, but whatever was holding him was crushing his chest so hard he could hear his bones groaning, threatening to shatter.
Then he saw something from the conner of his eye, razor sharp triangle shaped teeth and a slimy looking tongue. He knew exactly what was happening, he was being attacked by a demon beast. The kid he was fighting released a demon beast behind him when they clashed swords.
'No!' Was the last thought that the guard had as the beasts mouth snapped shut, crushing his head.
The moment the Blood Marsh Raptor was released from the beast orb it grabbed the guard with its arms, sinking its claws into the chest and back of the guard. After a few seconds holding the guard, it cocked it head to the side and opened its mouth before pulling the guard towards it and snapping its mouth shut. With a little jerk of its head, it decapitated the guard.
The guards headless body sprayed blood onto the Blood Marsh Raptor, painting its dark green scaly skins a crimson hue. It then lifted his head towards the sky, with a few twitches a head sized bugle slipped down the raptors throat as Collin heard a gulping sound. Dropping the dead body, the raptor placed one of its feet on the body's chest and growled at Collin.
Even though Collin knew that after being tamed the Blood Marsh Raptor couldn't attack him, Collin found it quite disconcerting seeing a seven-foot-tall demon beast with blood dripping off it, growling at him.
