Chapter 11

Two days after she was discharged from the hospital. Sofia was still bringing food she cooked for Ember.

"Aren't you tired of cooking?" Ember said to Sofia "I know you love cooking but cooking every day is stressful we could just order food.

"I'm not complaining, just want to make sure you eat as healthy as possible, and can only be sure of that if I cook it myself," she said as she was placing the food in front of Ember.

"Why stressing yourself besides I am fine now, I 'm not a convalescence anymore," Ember said sitting upright.

"I'm not complaining!" Sofia Said and sat down.

When Ember was done eating the food that Sofia brought for her, she took her medication, she was bored so she told Sofia she would love to know more about her if she doesn't mind.

"Okay, and you too," sofia murmur bitterly as tears welled up in her eyes.

Ember held her breath, scared to hear her story.

Sofia told Ember she is lives in Europe and from a poor background and she is attending the school because she was awarded a Scholarship. She is an orphan that lived with her aunt, for years she had lived with her aunt a bad-tempered acid tongue woman who made her life a living hell.

"What a wicked world," Ember said and shook her head in pity " I will talk to my dad so that you can and be staying with us during the holidays".

Sofia told Ember that she would have loved to but can't because her two siblings are living with their aunt. scared her aunt might kill any of them one day due to domestic violence, and the only reason she will go back there is because of her siblings.

She thinks of them every day, and it saddens her that she can't reach them on phone to know if they are alright.

At first, she wanted to turn down the scholarship that was awarded to her and she thought to herself that for her to be able to help her siblings and herself to become somebody.

Now that she had accepted the scholarship offer the road is still long. But it's going to take me 6 good years, and that's going to take a long time and she hope they didn't die before that time.

"Don't worry I'm going to speak to my dad about it" and I'm sure he's going to do something about it?" Ember told Sofia as she try to whip off the tears that trickled down Sofia's face.

"Okay, Thanks Ember," she said as she blinked back tears that threatened to overcome her.

"Stop crying, it's good to be okay" she assured and swap her up in her arms around her caressing her head to make her feel better.

When she was done crying and feeling better she told Ember that it was her turn to say something about herself, Ember told her every about herself too and how she lost her best friend to cancer.

"I'm so sorry," sofia said, " was that the reason you were scared of the Anatomy dissection class I'm sorry again for trying to make fun of the fact that you were scared of dead bodies".

"Kind off, but I'm healed now," she said and smiled.

Ember later called her mum that day to tell her she was sick, and now recovered.

"Why didn't you tell me when you were sick even your aunt didn't mention it to me," she said in an angry tone.

"Mom, don't be angry at me I didn't tell you because I didn't want to get you worried"

"Worried you say!? I'm your mother for crying out you are supposed to tell me everything, who took care of you when you're when you were sick?

"my friends did mum," she said in a low tone.

"Is she close to you because I would like to say a big thanks to her". her mum requested.

Ember gave her friend sofia her phone to talk to her mum, and her mum thanked her for taking care of her daughter, she gave Ember her phone when she was done talking with her mum.

"I'm still mad at you regardless, do take care of yourself," her mum said and hung up.

She toss her phone onto her bed after calling her dad and he didn't pick up, he might be busy at work she thought.

What if we take a stroll around the school, I've been indoors for five days now. They went out for a stroll, and Ember was cracking jokes to make Sofia get her mind off the story she told her earlier. I feel for her, she is going through hell she thought.

After they were back from their stroll they decided to make dinner together.

"What do want? we will make whatever you want" Sofia said as she grinned her teeth.

"Okay, if you insist let's make Mexican Chopped Chicken Salad with Jalapeño Dressing and maybe a chilled milkshake"

Sofia licked her lips and said, "I don't know how to make that kind of dish but it sounds delicious."

"Don't worry you will learn how to make it today" she replied as she glares at Sofia.

They don't have all the ingredients needed to make the dish, so they went to a nearby store to buy what they needed to make the dish and so many other things.

When they were done eating, they rested for the food to digest and took a short nap, sofia gave her the topics that she missed in school before going to the library.

She went through the topics and hopes Alex will have time to teach her when she gets back to school.

She would have asked sofia to help her out, but she doesn't want to bother her, after all, she went through today, and besides, she does understand what Alex teaches her more than Sofia.

"Good night Ember," she said pecking Ember on her chicks I'm sleeping in my room tonight.

"Okay dear, Good night see you tomorrow Ember replied.

"Good morning Sofia" Ember said smiling.

"Why are you in my room this morning, you haven't even taken your bath," she said looking surprised.

"Yeah, I cooked for us, go and brush your teeth let's eat," she said dragging her in excitement.

Why is she excited sofia thought, after she brushed her teeth she asked Ember to tell her why she was so happy this morning.

"Let's eat first before I tell you," Ember said as she was setting the plates.

After they finished eating, she told her that Alex sent her flowers last night, and she couldn't sleep as she was thinking about him
