Glass Wall

Vee was very upset with how the date went. She was even more furious when she saw Riley speaking to Leon after she left. She had watched from a distance and saw when Riley wrote something down on Leon's palm- obviously her phone number. She wanted to beat this girl to a pulp, having a boyfriend and still trying to hook up with another guy? And the way Leon answered her? What was he even thinking?

When Leon had found her and they walked into the car, she had given him a piece of her mind. She was so mad she had told him to tell his friend that she would resume work the next day.

Waking up that morning, Vienna couldn't help but hate how her anger got the better of her, now she had to go to work. She groaned as she placed her pillow over her face, groaning even louder. 'Maybe if I locked the door Leon wouldn't come to wake me up' she thought to herself as she brought down the pillow to her chest.

Smiling widely, she threw the pillow and jumped off bed to lock the doors. Just as she was about to reach for the key, the door slightly opened and Leon poked his head inside. He seemed to be surveying the room, glancing round the bed until his eyes settled on hers and he gave a small smile.

"Good morning. I see you're ready to work"

Damn this guy for being chirpy this morning. "I'm not ready for anything" she groaned and left the door to slump on her bed.

"Well too late Anna. I already told Blake you would resume today and it's almost 8 o'clock" he spoke, like a dad trying to convince his child that broccoli tasted just as good as icecream.

"Just give me a minute to gather up my wrong choice" her voice sounded muffled since her face was still buried in the thick duvet.

"30 minutes" Leon said and left.

Minutes later Vee was done showering and came out of the bathroom wearing only innerwears. She looked at her dress table, and seeing Leon wasn't there, she sighed in relief. She had just put on her shirt when Leon barged inside.

"Oh my God!" He exclaimed seeing Vee in just her panties.

Vee turned around in shock and immediately carried her duvet to cover herself. "What the hell are you doing here?!"

"I'm sorry I just came to tell you not to wear a skirt."

Her mouth hung slightly open as she looked at him in disbelief. Leon's eyes were closed tightly as he still held the handle of the door. "Well what are you still doing!? Get out!" She ordered.

Hastily Leon left the room, still shouting a 'sorry' as he raced down the hall.

Leon sat in his car as he waited for Vienna. It was such a bad idea to enter her room like that and he scolded himself for invading her privacy. But he couldn't help remembering how she looked in just panties. 'How could she have gotten so mature?', was all he could think. He shook his head to wade off any incoming dirty thoughts. Remembering Riley, he brought out his phone and called her.

"Hello" a voice answered on the second ring.

"Hey Riley, it's Leon."

"Oh hi!" She giggled.

"How are you?"

"Not so great" she sniffed. One second she was chirpy the next she was sounding like she got badly hit yesterday. She was just like Vienna, he thought. But he couldn't help but wonder if she had probably gotten hit by Easton because she gave out her number.

"What happened" he asked worriedly.

Riley giggled again. "Omg you are the cutest"

Leon rolled his eyes for even thinking something like that could have happened to her. This girl was obviously just trying to flirt with him.

"How about I tell you over dinner tonight. Just me and you" Riley said and Leon could feel her smiling.

"Did you tell your boyfriend about this?"

"Oh stop being too formal." Riley said. "I don't need permission from Easton to hang out with other guys. We aren't that exclusive yet"

Leon could now see why Vienna didn't like this girl. Riley was two-faced.

"I'm sorry but I can't do that" he said and when he saw Vee come out from the house, he hung up.

He was glad when he saw her wearing corduroy pants and not a skirt. Her long black wavy hair was bouncing as she walked to the car door. To him, she now looked more like an adult. As she entered into the car Leon couldn't help but glance at her ass before the seat took it in. He shook his head before he looked at her.

"Can't deny I saw you naked now can you?"

"Drive!" Vee said not even looking at him.

'How stupid to make that remark' he scolded himself.

.

Leon dropped Vienna off. After making sure she made it successfully past the doors of the building, he drove away.

Vienna hurried to the elevator. It was already past 8 a.m, meaning she was late. She didn't know why she was so nervous, maybe because she didn't know what to expect from her boss.

Opening the glass door of his office, Vienna met her boss chatting freely with another young man. She thought the man must be closer to her boss than Leon, seeing as he was lying on the couch at the other end of the office and even using his phone while they talked.

The man immediately sat up on seeing Vee and gave her a small smile. He had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes that glimmered as he smiled. Small stubbles were all over his chin, he seemed nice. She smiled back at him before she faced her boss.

"Good morning." She greeted, fidgeting with the handle of her bag.

"You're late Vienna." He said looking coldly at her.

"Hey Blake don't be harsh on her." The young man on the couch said.

"Your résumé" Blake stretched out his hand and Vee quickly gave it to him. He glanced at it nodding in approval. He looked like someone in his late 30's age as he looked at the papers through his glasses, when infact he was just around Leon's age. "You studied business admin?" He assessed her like he couldn't believe it. She seemed like a childish person considering how she acted when Leon was there. He couldn't believe this girl actually studied something like that.

"Yes I plan to go into starting my own company one day." She smiled. She had managed to impress her dead-panned face boss. But she celebrated too soon because Blake just dropped the paper on his table and handed her a file.

"Get to work" he said and turned back to his friend.

Vienna sat on the chair in her office and twirled around. She didn't care if Blake could see her through the glass wall separating her office from his. He couldn't just give her a file and tell her to get to work. She didn't know anything about publishing, she was pretty sure Leon told him about that. And if he didn't then her résumé spoke for her. He was atleast supposed to explain to her what to do. 'Grumpy old boss' she said to herself as she brought out her phone to text Phina.

The glass door opened and Blake's friend came out. He wasn't that tall, probably a 5'9 over her 5'4 height.

"Hey"

"Hi" she smiled at him.

"Sorry for how Blake acted. He's not always like that, he'll loosen up once you get to know him" he already walked to her table.

"Yeah. He's glad I'm in a good mood right now"

The man chuckled. "I'm Ray" he stretched his hand.

"Vienna" Vee took his hand politely.

"I heard" he gestured towards Blake before he released her. He opened the wooden door before he turned back to her. "So I'll pick you up by two?"

"For what?" Vee asked politely.

"Lunch." He grinned and left.

Vee stared at the door that just closed shut. Was that guy serious? They had just met 5 minutes ago and he was already asking her out for lunch. No, not even asking, he was demanding she go to lunch with him. He didn't even go about it in the normal cheesy way guys do, he just basically told her to be ready by 2.p.m. She sighed. Her boss and his friends were all the same.

.

On the other hand Riley hadn't stopped thinking about her call with Leon earlier. She was furious, not at Leon but at Vienna. She wondered if Leon and Vienna were friends with benefits or something. Was that why Leon rejected her? She was determined to get Leon and nothing,– not even if he had something with Vienna– was going to stop her.

A knock came on her door. Riley lived with her older brother alone. Her brother had moved to Phoenix when he learnt that Riley was going to school in the Arizona State University. He wanted to be close by so she could have somewhere to stay during her school breaks, since their parents were no more. She had learnt that Easton had dumped her for Vienna so when she found out that their guardians were neighbors, she got close to Vee so she could get Easton back. The times Easton came to visit Vee during breaks, they had both talked at midnight and she had tried to convince him to come back to her. Little by little she managed to steal him from Vee. And she didn't doubt that that would be the case with Leon.

Riley opened the door and saw Easton infront of her.

"Hey baby" he leaned in to kiss her but she turned away from him and walked to the couch.

"Thanks for coming Easton."

"Okay." Easton drawled and sat. "What's up?"

Riley scooted closer to Easton. She took his hands and held it in hers, looking at him like an innocent angel. "Easton, I've really enjoyed being your girlfriend again for these past days." She held the side of his face with one of her hands. "You're really cute, and good in bed too. But we have to break up."

"What are you saying?" Easton asked. "We only just got back together."

"I know that" she said calmly again. "These few days have been good for me two" Then suddenly she left him and scooted away, crossing her long legs as she added, nonchalantly. "But I'm tired. It's over."

Easton stood up angrily. "You don't understand Riley." He chuckled darkly. "You're not the one to break up with me. I do the breaking up here" he said emphasizing greatly on his 'I' and looking angrily at Riley.

Riley laughed softly. "You have forgotten that I am not Vienna, Easton. I'm done with you. You can use the door now"

It then dawned on Easton. "So you think you can just use me?" He asked, more to himself than Riley.

"Yeah." Riley stood up and walked to his face. "We are over Easton West. Again, door's that way" she gestured at the door and walked away.

Easton remembered all the good times he had with Vienna. He really enjoyed their relationship, not until Riley came back into his life. She deceived him, told him that Vienna was only around him for his fame and money and didn't love him. And he was so foolish to believe her. Even the time Vienna caught them together in his bed and left crying, Riley had told him not to go after her. 'It's a facade' she had said. He was so stupid to fall for the evil seductress.

However he was determined to go back to Vienna. He would ask her to take him back. "Ofcourse she'd take me back. I'm Easton West." He said proudly and left Riley's house.
