What if Torren Stark had a grandfather who had memories of his previous life with some power that was granted to him by the Akashic Records and he prepared the North to face the Targaryen forces?
Reagan woke up when he felt a wet sensation on his cheeks. Cracking his eyes open, he saw a black wolf cub licking his cheek inside his cradle. And suddenly his eyes started to glow, and he started to see its past. He saw men hunting down the cub pack and how its mother had saved it while sacrificing itself. He also saw a man and boy flaying the alpha of the pack and the rest of the cubs.
Closing his eyes, he thought, 'Might be psychometry. I have heard about it; it can be helpful in investigations and trying to learn new things. But it seems this little one is hurting. I should try to use biokinesis.'
He touched the cub with his hand and slowly started to close the small wound on its body using his bioenergy. While he was doing that, he felt a connection forming between them, and when the connection was fully formed, he understood, 'So this is the fenrir, huh? Will he grow gigantic, like forty kilometers tall and ninety kilometers long? Or will he be at a proportional size?'
Mentally shrugging, he hugged the cub with his small hands as the cub had fallen asleep after getting its injury healed. Closing his eyes, Reagan thought, 'If I can heal the wounds of others, then can I create medicines from the herbs that are grown in this world? But I would have to get my hands on medicinal knowledge of this world, as I have no idea about it. For that, I would have to join the citadel as an acolyte, but I won't become a maester; those gray rats are not that trustworthy. Maybe I should get inside it and look through all the books, then maybe I should start something similar in the North.'
A few seconds later, he heard an ear-piercing scream, which woke him up from his thinking process. Since he couldn't see anything anyway, he just lied and hugged his friend. He started to hear footsteps of men coming towards his room, then he heard another footstep and the imposing voice of his father: "What is going on here?"
The guards didn't say anything, and when King Brandon saw the dead dire wolf beneath his son's cradle, he went straight to check up on Reagan. What he saw inside surprised him, as his son was hugging the dire wolf cub in a protective manner, and the cub was looking protective of his son. He blinked twice to make sure that he was not seeing things, and he was brought back to the world by the world of his wife. "Brandon, what is it? Is Reagan alright? He's not hurt, is he?"
Shaking his head, Brandon said, "It looks like the Old Gods have blessed our son, Sarra."
"How?" She asked as she glanced at the dead dire wolf.
Brandon slowly picked up his son along with the dire wolf and showed them to her. "See this. He has his own dire wolf. A stark prince with a dire wolf, if not God sent it, then what is?"
Sarra was looking at her son worriedly, even though she knew the legend of some Stark Kings having dire wolves as their companions. She motioned for Brandon to give her son, and he obeyed the order of his queen. Cradling Reagan along with the cub, she noticed that both of them were protective of each other, and the cub was shivering after seeing Brandon and the guards with the spears. Without taking her eyes off the two babies, she said, "All the guards are out of the room. Take the mother dire wolf with you. We will bury her near the Weirwood tree, that's all."
"Yes, ma Queen." The guards said and picked up the mother dire wolf, and the maid hurriedly started to clean the blood stains from the floor.
Looking at his family, Brandon asked as he sat down on the bed, "Why did you send them away?"
"The cub is frightened of the guards. It looks like the cub only escaped a gruesome fate due to its mother saving it." Sarra told him as she rubbed the head of the cub.
Nodding his head in understanding, he asked her, "Are you going to name him?"
Thinking for a bit, she said, "I would love to name him, but he's our son's wolf. When he grows up, he will name him."
"Alright. Now about the funeral of the mother wolf, let's bury her as a family, as she had brought her son to our care with great risk." Brandon said as he rubbed the head of the cub with his index finger.
"Ga gu ga ga." Reagan mumbled out, and the cub barked out, "Yip."
Hearing that, both Brandon and Sarra looked at each other and chuckled at the cuteness of their son and the cub. Kissing her cheek, Brandon said, "My Queen, I would like to inform you that the ironmen have started attacking our coasts. I'm calling the banner man and marching there to send them back to their island. Wish me luck."
Nodding slowly at the news, Sarra said, "You have to come back safe. There are people who are aiming for your life, and you know it."
Giving Sarra a searing kiss that lasted a long while with some tongue actions, both of them gasped for a breath as they separated from the kiss. Placing his forehead on hers, Brandon said, "I know that, and I am aware of who wants my life so badly. And since I have a son now and don't have any brothers, as they died in the last war, the ones aiming for my life will be trying to become the regent, until Reagan is of age." Pausing there, he continued, "Because of that, I have written a will that states that my wife and the Queen will be the regents at my untimely death until Reagan becomes an adult."
This time, Sarra was the one who initiated the kiss, and when they stopped, she said, "Don't say things like that. You are coming back from this war alive. You have a son now, but that doesn't mean that you can go ahead and do it. You hear me, Brandon 'Ice Eyes' Stark? You are coming back to us alive."
"Yes, my Queen." Brandon replied as if he were just a guardsman to avoid the ire of his wife. But still, he was happy about what she said, and he promised himself that he would come back to his wife and son.
Unknown to both Sarra and Brandon, Reagan understood everything from psychometry and started to augment his father to be the peak of human beings in this world for twenty years, as that was the limit of augmentation. He also boosted the healing factor of his father so that he wouldn't die because of blood loss on the battlefield. He did the same with his mother so that she wouldn't succumb to poison and other polys.
After some time, they changed their clothes and went to the Weirwood tree to bury the mother wolf. The cub was shedding tears as it watched his mother get lowered into the ground, and when he couldn't see her anymore, he howled in sadness, "Awooooooooo.".
""Awoooooooo."" More howls were heard from the wolf's wood after the cub howled in sorrow.
