Break Up

"Wow, is there any progress from my boyfriend? How come my boyfriend is calling me? Aren't you always so hard to reach?"

"Is that so?" asked Jedd confused at Cathleen who suddenly seemed to be insinuating himself.

Casually and without any burden, Cathleen said yes to Jedd's words.

"I'm sorry if you think of me that way, you know I--"

Before Jedd had finished explaining or rather giving reasons, which for Cathleen was honestly boring, the girl cut him off by saying that she could understand him and already knew very well the answer that her lover would say.

"Ah, Jedd can you free up your time tonight? I have something important to talk to you about. I'm afraid I won't be able to tell you in the future."

Silence...

Jedd, who heard Cathleen's words, of course spontaneously thought the nonsense.

Why would Cathleen say such a thing? Did he miss something?

"Are you okay?" Jedd asked Cathleen.

Oh come on Jedd himself was still quite sane and certainly had feelings for Cathleen, so there was no way he wasn't worried about her.

"You take it easy, I'm fine."

That was the only sentence Cathleen gave Jedd.

"Is this the right choice for me?" said Cathleen who was somehow a little hesitant about the decision she wanted to make this time.

Honestly, if Jedd had not made her feel lonely and had no clear final relationship, then Cathleen would not have made such a sudden decision as now.

"You've thought it through Cath, so don't go back on what you've decided," Cathleen said, trying to snap out of her trance.

She realized that the decision now was not an easy one for her, especially since she had been accustomed to the presence of her lover or friends around her. But she decides that she is now avoiding everything.

No... not a coward!

Rather, she wanted to be sure of her feelings and also her future life plans.

Cathleen was not a girl who easily depended on others. She tended to have an independent personality.

Time was ticking and now Cathleen was getting ready to drive her car to the restaurant that she had told Jedd was their meeting point for the evening.

Nervous?

Of course, she was nervous, especially since her decision might not be approved by Jedd.

What if Jedd doesn't approve of her decision? Would she back down or would she be back in the shackles of uncertainty?

"Calm down Cath, you have to try it if you want to find the answers you need." Cathleen monologued in her mind trying to convince herself.

The way to the restaurant where she met Jedd didn't take much time, as it only took her 15 minutes to arrive, and here Cathleen was, which was none other than the girl in the restaurant's parking lot.

Cathleen's footsteps started towards the entrance of the restaurant.

A greeting from the waitress welcomed her.

Cathleen gave the waitress a warm smile.

"Babe," greeted the young man who was right behind her.

Spontaneously Cathleen turned her head towards the source of the voice which she was sure that the young man who had just greeted her was her lover.

"Hey, you've arrived too. You came on time?" Cathleen tried to control herself with mixed feelings.

"Of course, I came on time, didn't you say you were going to say something important?" Jedd replied as he wrapped his arms around Cathleen's slender waist.

A smile was all Cathleen could give without a sound.

The two of them walked towards one of the tables there with each of Cathleen and Jedd thinking.

"Sit down," Cathleen said as her hand tried to release Jedd's hand that was previously on Cathleen's waist.

Jedd couldn't help but comply with Cathleen's request.

The warmth that Jedd often got now felt empty or maybe this was the first time Jedd felt something different from his lover.

"Shall we order something to eat first, or do you want to talk to me first?" asked Jedd cautiously.

Cathleen immediately said that she wanted to order a drink first, and Jedd agreed.

" Are you alright Babe?"

Jedd got another inexplicable smile.

A big question mark plagued his mind even more.

"Before I talk about what I want to tell you, is there anything you want to tell me first?"

'What does this mean?'

Jedd finally gave Cathleen a slow shake of his head after a few minutes of digesting Cathleen's sentence, but he couldn't quite grasp the implied meaning that his girlfriend was trying to express.

'I knew it.'

"Jedd, it seems that our relationship has become boring. I can no longer understand your way of thinking as I used to."

Cathleen paused her sentence for a moment before continuing, while Jedd froze with a paled look on his face.

He never expected to hear those words from Cathleen's lips.

"Cath, it looks like you've been busy so you said the wrong thing earlier, didn't you? I'm sure you didn't mean to say what you just said," said Jedd who immediately grasped his girlfriend's hand.

Cathleen felt like laughing at the words Jedd had just said.

"I'm sorry Jedd. I've considered it well, and I've given you two chances. It's just that you didn't use the opportunity properly."

It was a crushing sentence that Jedd got this time.

"We should break up for now, and I hope you can understand. Thank you for teaching me a life lesson. Ah... I wish you every success and happiness Jedd, but remember you must pay attention to your health, although I can't tell you about your health that you often forget."

Jedd was speechless, the pain was all he could feel at the moment.

Cathleen gave Jedd a warm smile and soon got up from her seat, giving Jedd a farewell kiss on the cheek as he stayed where he was.

'I'm sorry Jedd.'
