Oscorp Facility
(Osborn P.O.V)
"How goes the progress on the serum doctor?"
Osborn asked his colleague/employee. The diminutive man excitedly replied,
"With the blood sample you got from Valiant, we've managed to not only increase its potency but also decrease the side effects on the mind. None of our rat specimens have indicated signs of unusual violent behavior."
"When is it going to be ready? The military has been breathing down my neck more than usual after Valiant hit the scene."
Osborn spat out in impatience.
"We still have to observe the specimens more Dr.Osborn."
"Excuses doctor. Give me good news by the weeks end or we will have a problem."
Osborn's face was impassive as he left the lab but inwardly, a storm of anger was brewing. Why? Why the hell did an enhanced human appear just as he was about to finish his life's work? Was it one of his competitors? Could they have been responsible for Valiant's power? All he knew was that the vigilante had lit a fire under the military's ass and Osborn was the one in danger of getting burnt.
The only good thing to come out of him was his d.n.a sample collected from one of his fights. A gangster had managed to slice the skin of his palm and Osborn who had been closely following Valiant's exploits in an effort to find out how he got his powers was all too eager to collect the sample.
The sample had become highly useful as it enabled Osborn to not only enhance the serum's potency but also get rid of it's unsavory bits. But the damn military! The military couldn't and wouldn't give him enough time to complete the project. Tomorrow he had another meeting with them. He only hoped that showing them the glider would be enough to get them to lay off.
(Brian's P.O.V)
The first thing Peter did once we got back home was go to bed. I of course knew what was affecting him but I also excused myself after telling our guardians we were tired from the tour. I waited until everyone was asleep all the while meditating.
Alone at last and with my excitement in check, I quickly dressed up in my Valiant costume and left the house. Hopping across rooftops in the New York night was exhilarating. I parkoured over the obstacle filled terrain and finally made it to an abandoned building that was due for demolition.
However historical nuts were opposing the city's decision, claiming that the huge building was a city landmark that should be preserved. None of that mattered to me though. The building had a massive basement that was perfect for my nightly activities.
I jumped off the massive building and landed at the back with a boom! The force was nullified by my [Echo] skill. I had been taking every chance I could to practice my skills and by now the skill was pretty useful.
A few minutes later and I was finally inside the basement of the building. I had cleaned up the place and renovated it a bit. The underground section also had access to tunnels that after a bit of exploring led out onto the banks of the Hudson river. It was perfect for escaping in case the need arose.
A huge door separated the rest of the building from my base. It had a biometrics security system that was hidden on the wall. In addition to that I had constructed a seal that would muddle the senses of anyone with a bad motive from accessing my lab. This was to make sure that no one could enter even in the case that they managed to bypass the fingerprint and eye scan. All this was done by the money I got from fighting criminals.
I went towards the huge monitors and turned on the surveillance footage. Instantly, the image of a high tech lab appeared on the screen. I rewinded the footage and after a while stopped it and started playing the video. I listened to what Osborn and another scientist were talking about and smiled.
My plan to bug the Oscorp building had been super easy, barely an inconvenience. I'd done it to keep up with their progress in creating the Oz serum/Goblin formula. Even speeding up the whole thing by allowing him a sample of my own enhanced blood. You see, my thought process had been like this, if I couldn't find a Bio-chem expert smart enough to solve the issue on mental degradation of the original formula then I would help the original creator's to stabilize the serum during it's creation.
It had been a simple matter to allow myself to bleed once I saw Osborn's drone discreetly recording my fights. With my blood, hopefully they could change the Oz serum into something useable but even if they failed, I had a back up plan.
"Now it's time for the main event. Hello there little guy."
I looked at the red and blue spider while walking towards a huge table. The table had seal inscriptions on it's flat surface and was brown in color.
I put the small plastic cup on the middle of the seal on the table and turned the whole formation on. The spider started getting agitated.
"Calm down, it's all gonna be over soon. Great, now I sound like a serial killer."
I mumbled while increasing the effect of the seal.
I'd read somewhere that the spider that had bitten Peter the first time had died naturally after administering it's venom onto his blood-stream.
The seal inscription on the table was to prevent that. It had taken me 3 years to come up with something so intricate. Three years and the effects were weak when used on a creature bigger than a rodent. I called the seal, a rejuvenation seal.
It used the principle of storing the mysterious energy in the air and compressing it. Then using that energy to revitalize the subject. In this case the subject being the radioactive spider. It was the upper limits of my skill in seal making. The quality of energy was lacking and so was my skill. I was happy that I'd even managed to construct it in the first place.
The seal lit up at my command and the mysterious energy was changed into vital energy and funneled into the spider. The spider fidgeted and started glowing. The glow intensified and I looked away. A few seconds later the light died down and I rose my eyebrows in surprise. The spider had not only grown bigger but the blue and red coloring had intensified. It almost looked as if it'd been polished clean.
It gingerly touched the now small plastic cup and then turned to look at me. 2 fangs came out of it's jaw and I could just make out the sheen of venom coating the fangs.
"No time like the present."
I said to myself as I uncovered the sleeves on both my hands. I was going to make sure I got the total benefits.
The plastic cup was lifted and the spider didn't waste time, jumping onto my wrist quickly and…
"Nh."
I bit back the wince as it's fangs sank onto my skin. It stayed there for a couple of seconds before the coloration on it's body became dull, surprising me.
The spider withdrew it's fangs and it's limbs stiffened. It's body fell from my wrist onto the table. I touched it a couple of times but got no response.
"So it died."
I sighed. The hidden function of the seal also worked.
I had included a function where the spider's body burned all the vital energy it had to increase the potency of the bite. This was to make sure I got all the max benefits before killing it. I would be dumb to allow the spider to leave knowing it could bite someone else. Not everyone would turn to heroics as Peter did.
I started feeling dizzy after a few seconds so I settled into a meditative position on the bed I'd brought in. Luckily tomorrow was a Saturday and I always slept in on a Saturday. So I knew I would be able to make it back before my family knew.
I brought up the Interface and smiled. Success.
There was a prompt on the blue panel.
( Detected a foreign substance attempting to make changes to the host's body. Proceed? )
The new function I'd added on the Interface to enable me to control the changes any serum made to my body had worked.
"Display what changes would be made."
( An increase in all physical parameters, organic webbing generation through the wrists, heightened senses, bio-electric blasts, electrostatic force to adhere to any surface, a regenerative factor, super flexibility and equilibrium and a danger sense )
Whoa. I didn't know the radioactive spider could also give me bio-electric aura blasts. Must be because of the rejuvenation seal. That entire list of powers was interesting and very desirable…to someone who wanted to be a copycat of Spiderman. Fuck that. I'm a cultivator.
"Edit out organic webbing generation and the wall crawling powers and channel that excess energy into increased durability."
Spiderman wasn't invulnerable. He couldn't block bullets, could be slashed and bludgeoned. It was surprising that he was even able to apply his immense strength without tearing his body apart constantly. The increased durability would hopefully give me a tough body that would enable me to use my full strength without harming my body.
(Confimed. Changes made. Proceed?)
"Yes."
I gave the order and blacked out.
I came to suddenly. I got up from the bed and looked at the time. It was 4.32 am. More than enough time to check out the changes to my body and still make it back without alerting anyone to the fact that I hadn't slept in.
I took a step and my body shot up to the ceiling.
"Whoa whoa whoa!"
I flipped while in the air and landed smoothly on the floor in a classic spiderman pose.
"That…was effortless."
I grabbed my costume and proceeded to a huge open underground area that I had changed into my own training room. There were weights, punching bags etc.
I first of all went for the weights. Even the heaviest of all of them didn't make me strain at all. I was amused when I used my pinky finger to lift 1100 pounds ( 500kg )
A punching bag sailed off into the air and impacted a wall from a light tap. I jumped and speared my hand onto the ceiling, hanging from there. I looked at my palms and smiled. My whole body felt incredible. I wanted to test [echo] but I knew that I would probably bring the whole building crushing down on me. I brought up the Interface with anticipation.
[Name: Brian Parker]

Soul strength: N/A
Mental strength: Mid Psion
Special skills: Echo.
Danger Sense.
Bio- electric aura blasts.
"Hahaha."
I laughed in happiness.
"Finally. My cultivation went up to the next realm. My body is firmly at superhuman and I now have two more powerful skills."
I looked at the time again. 4.48 a.m. I still had time. I just needed a deserted place to really test my powers fully without the fear of breaking stuff.
The outcry will be felt due to my decisions in this chapter. But I don't want to make a carbon copy of Spiderman. The mc doesn't want to be someone who swings on webs and crawls on walls. That's Spiderman's shtick.
