Chapter 162 Doomsday Awaken
...
Unlike in the movie's plot, here's no Gene chamber, no Kryptonian corpses, or even kryptonite.
Even with Lex Luthor's smarts, it'd be tough for anyone, even a clever woman, to cook rice without the rice itself.
If Stephen doesn't locate him, there might be no appearance of Doomsday. And without Doomsday, the situation would be much less thrilling. Despite how audacious Lex Luthor is, anyone else given the same circumstances wouldn't likely agree to such crazy behavior, but he's game, and that's intriguing.
Given that Lex Luthor was ready to use his genes for Doomsday, Stephen asked him to set up a place and transport the gene room there. As for the corpse? Let Lex Luthor handle that first.
Even though Lex Luthor is responsible for studying the Krypton spacecraft, it's precisely why he's relatively free now. Once Stephen and the Black Siren left, he couldn't wait to discuss matters with the secretary.
...
Metropolis is under reconstruction, and Superman is occasionally spotted flying around. He seems to have seen Stephen but didn't intend to come over and say hello. Stephen really made Superman quite miserable, although the future might hold even more challenges.
"What's the situation in Earth Two's Metropolis?" Stephen asked the Black Siren as they walked.
"I haven't been, but I've heard it's not peaceful," the Black Siren replied curiously. "Is this Doomsday really that powerful? There are Kryptonians here, and we should have many corpses. If BOSS eliminates all Kryptonians, wouldn't that create countless Doomsdays? Who could oppose BOSS at that time?"
"Haha! Darling, no one was, is, or will be my opponent!" Stephen smirked.
"I misspoke," the Black Siren quickly apologized.
As they strolled, they soon arrived at the Daily Planet. The luck of the Daily Planet remained relatively unaffected, yet it was bustling but noticeably less crowded, giving an air of emptiness.
"Mr. Stephen."
A black man approached as soon as Stephen entered.
"Hello, I'm Perry White, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet," the man said. "I've received word from Mr. Bruce Wayne. You're welcome to inspect the newspaper."
"Inspection isn't necessary. I'm not particularly interested in the paper's operations. Where's Lois?" Stephen asked casually.
The black editor-in-chief was taken aback. "Lois should be at home after the recent events in Metropolis, and you're aware the city just experienced a catastrophe."
"Right."
Stephen nodded. "Alright then, Help me send a message."
"What do you need?"
"Faora, the gene room is in my possession," Stephen conveyed.
The black editor inquired tentatively: "Just that? No address or additional content?"
"No, let Lois inform me if she finds it."
Having no plans in the city, Stephen took the Black Siren back to Central City from the Daily Planet, applying nano-shrinking technology to the gene room in his spare time.
In the evening, after completing the upgrade, Stephen made a call and disclosed the location.
At the designated spot, Stephen shrank the gene room and opened a teleportation wormhole.
It was a heavily guarded open space where Lex Luthor and the secretary awaited.
Without preamble, Stephen enlarged the gene room and ushered Lex and the secretary in.
The bald Lex looked on in curiosity, and the secretary brought in Zod's body.
"Come on, Place your hand there" Stephen pointed to the console.
Lex Luthor took a deep breath and raised his hand, feeling a slight sting as the gene sample was extracted. Stephen casually tossed the Kryptonian's corpse into a large incubation tank in preparation for gene integration.
"Mr. Stephen, according to the law of Kandor City, it's forbidden…"
"Kandor City is gone, so… let's start," Stephen interrupted the Gene Room program's reminder.
"Okay."
As the mechanical sound subsided, Zod's corpse in the Gene tank gradually transformed. The skin tore, the body expanded, and soon its original appearance emerged. The dark, sinister figure with bulging eyes appeared on the verge of eruption.
"Is this Doomsday?" Lex Luther stared at the creature.
"This is just the initial version. After evolving for more abilities, it will become the real Doomsday," Stephen said, opening the Gene pot with a faint smile as Doomsday emerged.
Doomsday appeared confused, looking at Stephen and others with a fierce gaze. The secretary dutifully shielded Lex Luther, who, though frightened, bravely observed Doomsday. "Seems delirious? Is it because it was created from corpse?"
"Rrrroooooaaaaarrrrrrrr!" Doomsday spread its arms, preparing to charge.
"Hey, baby, don't wreck my gene room," Stephen's voice dropped, activating the speed force to swiftly extract Doomsday from the gene room and forcefully hurl it into the night sky.
Whoosh!
The colossal Doomsday vanished into the night sky instantly.
After a while, Lex Luthor and the secretary followed, watching the disappearing Doomsday, curious. "Where did it go?"
"I threw it away, seems it's headed to Metropolis," Stephen said casually.
"Do you detest Metropolis that much?" Lex Luthor inquired.
Stephen shrugged and flew out.
Boom!
Doomsday's sudden appearance terrified the city, demolishing buildings with its roaring destruction. The blue electric light crackled, absorbed by the creature.
"Oh my God, what is this?"
"Monster!"
"Run, run!"
Panic spread, prompting soldiers and police protecting the Krypton spacecraft to alert their superiors. General Swanwick and others rushed to the command room, witnessing the chaos.
"General, a call from the President," someone handed the phone to General Swanwick.
"Can you tell me what's happening in Metropolis? Is it another alien?" the president's voice echoed.
General Swanwick had a faint inkling of what was happening. This monster was linked to Stephen!
