Chapter 146 Superman
"I found it."
Upon witnessing Gideon's transformation into a map marking a specific location, Stephen rolled over and perched on Lois Lane's lap.
"Continue writing your news; I'll step out for a sec."
"That's... the Indian Ocean? How would you gonna get there?" Lois Lane was an avid traveler, and even with just a glance, she recognized the location.
"By Running."
"Running?"
Initially, Lois Lane thought Stephen was joking, but when a bolt of yellow lightning flashed beside him, causing him to vanish instantly, she gaped in astonishment.
Stephen sprinted all the way to the Indian Ocean as indicated on the map. Lightning streaked across the sea, creating countless ripples.
"Right here."
Stephen suddenly halted and tapped his bracelet to don his battle suit before plunging into the sea. Though the surface was crystal clear, it darkened as he descended, resembling an underwater aquarium with a plethora of fish swimming amidst rocks on the seabed. With a gentle touch, Stephen noticed a green light emanating from one of the rocks.
Kryptonite!
"There's plenty of it," Stephen chuckled as he stowed away the battle suit, and in an instant, an inaudible amount of pressure erupted.
He activated his elemental control ability, causing the seawater to recede from his side and creating a vacuum, after which Stephen used Vibe to transport the kryptonite through a swirling, cloud-like wormhole to his villa in Central City.
"Gideon, instruct them to secure this kryptonite."
"Okay," Gideon promptly replied, establishing direct communication.
Meanwhile, underwater, wherever Stephen ventured, the sea retreated, delivering the kryptonite hidden deep within its depths to the villa in Central City. After approximately half an hour of diligent work, Stephen had gathered all the kryptonite in a container, donned his battle suit once more, and soared out of the seabed.
Boom!
Emerging from the sea, clad in his battle suit, Stephen orientated himself and took off.
About an hour later, Stephen returned to Lois Lane's apartment. He put away his battle suit and used his speed force to pass through the wall, finding Lois in the room. She had just posted her written report online, adding her signature. She understood the potential consequences of her actions, but if this report held true, Superman would come looking for her, right?
It might finally confirm the existence of extraterrestrial beings.
"Did you sent it?" Stephen inquired, approaching Lois from behind.
Lois was startled and glanced at her chest. "You... You returned so quickly?"
Stephen nodded and leaned over to examine the news content on the computer. He had to admit that Lois Lane was a skilled journalist; her writing was far from mundane.
"Did you find it?" Lois asked.
"Absolutely."
While he couldn't guarantee the future appearance of kryptonite, at least most of it was now in his possession. Stephen turned and settled onto the sofa, patiently awaiting the unfolding drama.
"Huh? The news has been deleted."
Lois Lane yelled in surprise as the news that had been on the website just moments ago suddenly vanished. Not only was the news gone, but the entire website seemed to have been shut down after a few swift actions.
"It's probably A.R.G.U.S. doing this," Stephen commented with a smirk.
Only agencies like A.R.G.U.S. would be vigilant about news related to aliens, and the detailed report by Lois Lane was sure to be discovered quickly. For security reasons, deletion and blocking were standard procedures.
Sure enough, it didn't take long for Stephen's phone to ring. Amanda Waller was calling.
"You shared the news about the Kryptonians with Lois Lane?" Amanda Waller asked bluntly.
"Yes," Stephen confirmed.
"How could you allow a reporter to post such crucial information online instead of—"
"Shh, unlock the news and let it go live again," Stephen interrupted Amanda Waller.
"Do you realize the panic this will cause?" Amanda Waller exclaimed.
"I'm waiting for him to come," Stephen replied casually.
Amanda Waller was taken aback. "Are you sure?"
Beep...beep...beep...
The phone call ended abruptly. Putting down the phone, Amanda Waller hesitated for a long moment and then spoke in a deep voice, "Unlock the news and locate Lois Lane's address. Implement the highest level of countermeasures."
The website soon reopened, and the news reappeared. Within a short time, the number of clicks and comments on the news skyrocketed. Lois Lane was still highly regarded in the news industry, so the story began to circulate widely on the internet. Before long, the entire internet was buzzing with discussions about aliens, specifically Kryptonians and Superman.
Lois Lane placed the computer on the coffee table and watched the comments while conversing with Stephen. She had some idle moments, and Stephen simply lay on her lap again, continuing their chat. Stephen's playful banter occasionally caught Lois off guard, but in her quest to learn more, she endured it.
After all, he was still being sincere, albeit in his own way.
"What are you doing?" Lois screamed, her hands clutching her chest, as she angrily confronted Stephen.
"It was getting boring," Stephen muttered and employed his Telepathy ability. Lois Lane's expression changed, and she obediently unbuttoned her blouse, deftly removing her bra and tossing it aside, showing her perky breast with a pink nipple visible.
Stephen sat there like a mischievous schoolboy, reaching out and exploring playfully.
It didn't take long to find something to grab his attention.
As the evening gradually turn into night outside the window, and the lights of the nearby 32-story building came to life, Stephen suddenly sat up.
"He's here!"
With his Telepathy ability disengaged, Lois immediately regained control of her body. She glared angrily at Stephen, who had moved to the window.
Outside the window, in the night sky, a figure hovered.
Dressed in a tight-fitting blue suit that showcased a physique of steel, a red cape fluttered in the breeze.
Superman!
"Is that... Superman?" Lois Lane asked in astonishment when she saw the figure in the sky outside the window.
"Yes, but something feels off," Stephen frowned and met Superman's gaze outside. "Ah, it seems the red underpants are missing!"
"Underpants are hardly a necessity for Superman!"
