The broadcast suddenly blared, and several helicopters swarmed around Superman, repeating warnings incessantly. The streets below had been cordoned off by Argus, with armed soldiers nervously aiming at the airborne Superman.
Superman turned a deaf ear, fixating on Stephen and Lois.
Boom!
The apartment door was forcibly pushed open, and Amanda Waller strode in with June Moone and a squad of heavily armed soldiers.
"How can you..." Lois Lane was about to question their intrusive entry, but Amanda Waller directed her to join Stephen's side.
"I've cleared the entire block. Whatever it takes, don't worry, as long as you can apprehend him," Amanda Waller said solemnly.
Stephen pursed his lips, offering no response, and gracefully opened the window, standing on the edge and stepping forward in an air.
His actions surprised everyone. Wasn't this place more than twenty stories high? He could plunge to his death if he continued like this. Superman looked on, seemingly prepared to save him.
"It's getting cold," Lois murmured, shivering.
Ice formed under Stephen's feet, catching him step by step as he moved towards Superman, the ice rapidly extending from the window.
This spectacle left everyone stunned.
Seeing the long ice trail emerging from the window, Superman frowned and asked, "How did you find out? Zod... is really coming to Earth?"
Since Superman wore his costume, he must have learned about his own life story from the future Fortress of Solitude, as if his father's consciousness was loaded into the master key and brought to Earth. When Superman activated the Fortress of Solitude, his consciousness program was also downloaded into the spacecraft. It explained his identity on the board.
"Why aren't you wearing red underwear?" Stephen responded to Superman's question, looking embarrassed. "It makes me uncomfortable to see you without underwear outside. I don't have much room to complain. So, find a pair of red underwear to put on, and then we can talk?"
"Why should I wear red underwear?" Superman asked, bewildered.
"Because Superman's character define feature is the red underwear outside, except for the 'S' that represents hope," Stephen insisted.
"I never planned to wear underwear outside, let alone red ones. Now, tell me how you know all this!" Although Superman was Kryptonian, he was raised on Earth and couldn't fathom the idea of wearing underwear on the outside.
"No? Then you're not Superman. If you're not Superman..." Stephen suddenly lunged forward, delivering a direct blow to Superman's face!
His body was truly as tough as steel!
Superman was sent flying instantly, crashing into the building behind him.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The robust building seemed to transform into a pile of rubble, with walls knocked down by Superman and flying out the other side.
Wow!
Shards of glass flew, the load-bearing wall collapsed, and the upper floors teetered, swaying dangerously outward.
"Oh my God!"
No one expected that Stephen and Superman would unleash such destructive power. Although Amanda Waller had evacuated the entire block in advance, it was evident that she had underestimated the might of these two.
"Everyone should leave this area and alert the neighborhood to evacuate immediately."
Clearly, the battleground of these two superpowers extended beyond a single block. Amanda Waller said this while turning and making a swift exit. Lois Lane stared in astonishment as Stephen, standing on ice, bypassed the building and chased after Superman, who grabbed his cape and hurled him back. Only then did she react and hasten outside.
Boom!
There was a deafening crash.
The wall next to him shattered as Superman slammed into it, groaning as he sat down.
Lois Lane stopped in shock, then saw Superman rise and rushed forward, her hands outstretched, before resuming her escape. She opted for the stairs rather than the elevator.
Boom!
Superman shot out of the building like a missile, fists clenched as he aimed for Stephen.
Whoosh!
An ice wall abruptly materialized in front of Superman, but he plowed through without breaking stride.
Whoosh!
Another ice wall.
Yet another.
An ice wall stood before Superman, but it couldn't halt his steel-hard body. He pierced through more than a dozen ice walls in succession until he reached Stephen and delivered a powerful punch.
"Why?"
Superman was bewildered, unable to comprehend why Stephen was meddling in his affairs.
"The copy was successful."
With a sly grin, Stephen spoke, then fell backward felling the air brushed passed him.
He plummeted from the ice in an instant.
During his rapid descent, Stephen smirked and closed his eyes. Amidst the whistling wind's roar, he could discern the soldiers below shouting in surprise, Amanda Waller muttering curses under her breath, and even the rapid heartbeat of Lois Lane.
This was Superman's super hearing. Although his visual perception had greatly improved after copying Diana's abilities, superman super hearing was evidently superior. It made no difference to Stephen anyway; the effects could be stacked.
He heard Superman descending to pursue him and abruptly opened his eyes, his gaze turning red-hot. Heat vision and high-temperature rays erupted towards the approaching Superman.
Seeing the high-temperature rays, Superman was taken aback.
"How... how could he possess this ability? Is he also a Kryptonian? It must be, it has to be the case, or how else could he know about Krypton? Although I'm not sure how he arrived on Earth, I'm certain he's a Kryptonian."
Boom!
The high-temperature rays struck Superman, instantly incapacitating him.
Stephen spread his arms and descended gracefully, falling in a star-shaped posture.
Boom!
A deafening crash echoed as Stephen hit the ground.
A deep crater appeared where he landed.
The nearby soldiers were dumbfounded. They exchanged puzzled glances and cautiously approached the pit where Stephen had fallen.
Step by step, they moved closer until they spotted Stephen lying in the deep hole, eyes closed, and unmoving but smiling.
"Could it be... he fell to his death?" Just as the soldier entertained this thought, Superman arrived in a blur from a distance.
Hearing the commotion, the soldiers instinctively aimed their guns at the flying Superman.
Ratatatat! Ratatatat!
Bullets rained down.
"The sensation of bungee jumping... it's quite exhilarating," Stephen chuckled, opening his eyes and rising to his feet.
