When Xiaoyun woke up, the white ceiling and a familiar face were standing right next to him.
It was the same doctor he had first met right after the car accident, holding the same clipboard.
"You're finally awake. It's a shame that we had met in the same place again."
"How long have I been in the hospital? Why am I here?" Xiaoyun asked, shaking his head slightly as his head still felt a little hungover.
"Boss, you were stabbed by someone... You have been in the hospital for an entire day now."
Turning his head towards the voice, his driver was sitting by the bedside, with his face looking a little tired.
"Fuck... How unlucky am I?" Xiaoyun complained, starting to regret not hiring bodyguards.
"Well, I wouldn't say that. Your stab wound was just inches away from hitting directly to your heart and veins.
You really well could have died there if it wasn't for your driver running red lights to reach the hospital."
"How long do I have to stay in the hospital?" Xiaoyun asked as the doctor wrote something on his clipboard.
"About a month to make sure the stitches fully heal and don't rupture or have an infection... Oh, and no standing up for at least a month since your leg was also stabbed."
"Thank you for saving me, doctor."
"No problem... One last thing before I leave. Your anesthesia should fall off in a few hours or so."
As the doctor left the room, Xiaoyun turned his attention to his driver, who looked almost to be asleep at this point.
"Longming, thank you so much for saving me."
"It's a part of my job, boss," Longming answered as his face looked a little guilty for some reason.
"Ahem, can you bring me my phone?"
"Yes, boss."
Longming quickly dug through the blood-stained clothes on the chair before taking out his phone.
"The password is 1205, and call Li Xiao, please."
Longming quickly unlocked the phone before calling the number, putting it next to his ear.
"Boss! Where have you been? The whole company has been looking for you!"
"I got in an accident... Long story short, I'm going to be gone for several weeks.
Please go take out my drawer in my office. Inside is the plan I need you to enact to lead the company while I'm gone.."
"Thank you, boss."
After Longming sees Xiaoyun's signal to end the call, Longming finally puts the phone back to the side.
"Longming, you can go home now. Your family must be worried... The hospital nurses can take care of me."
"No, boss, I already told them I am going home late. I can stay here and take care of you."
Seeing Longming stubbornly refuse, Xiaoyun's mind was a little touched. But he still refused his offer.
"I hired you only as a driver... If you're feeling guilty that you didn't protect me, I didn't hire you as a bodyguard——"
"But——"
"There is no but. Am I the boss, or are you the boss?"
The determined tone finally made Longming accept the suggestion. He got up from his seat and headed over to the door.
After taking one last look and seeing Xiaoyun signaling him to go, he finally left the room and closed the door.
---
Soon, ten minutes passed.
Xiaoyun had stared at the clock out of boredom. There was a TV on the corner, but the remote was too far for him to reach.
Considering he couldn't even move his arm, there really was nothing besides staring at the clock or sleep.
However, everything changed when the hospital door was suddenly opened.
"Hello, I am your nurse for today. I am here to check your blood pressure and make sure everything is healing fine."
As soon as the nurse walked into the room with her clipboard, Xiaoyun and the nurse both froze at the same time.
"Wait, are you Songming? The one that went to Yancheng University?" The nurse suddenly asked.
"Um, yes... Do I know you? I feel like I have seen you before."
Xiaoyun couldn't figure out the exact reason, as the mask made it hard for him to tell who the nurse was.
"Oh my god, we haven't seen each other for so long! I am Leyan. Do you still remember me?"
The nurse finally took off her face mask, running over to his bedside in excitement.
"Of course I remember you! I have been calling your phone number nonstop every single day.
I even went to our coffee shop every single day to wait for you! Where have you been all these years?"
Xiaoyun's voice cracked a little as he could hold in his excitement meeting her again.
"I'm so sorry. I lost my phone while on a bus trip to intern at a rural hospital. I only transferred back to the cities a few days ago."
As Leyan finished talking, their eyes crossed paths, causing both of them to look away at the same time.
"It's okay, as long as you are here, that's all I care about..." Xiaoyun softly whispered.
As the room fell into silence, Leyan finally remembered her job as she started examining his bandaged body.
"What happened to you? How did you end up being bandaged up like this?" Leyan asked curiously.
"Somebody tried to kill me, but luckily I lived... But I am quite happy I got stabbed, though."
Xiaoyun couldn't help but laugh as he thought about the positives he had received from the stabbing.
"Hey! Don't say that! Why are you laughing?" Leyan curiously asked, her face looking a little confused.
"Well, if I didn't get stabbed, I would have never got a hold of you. I will take this deal any time of the day."
The answer made her face blush red as she turned her attention back to checking his blood pressure.
"Do you remember what I said when we saw each other for the last time?" Xiaoyun asked.
"Yeah, I still remember."
"I would like to fulfill it. Would you mind giving me a chance, Leyan?"
Without any hesitation, Leyan nodded in agreement. But her face blushed even more red as she put the clipboard aside.
"Songming... Can I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"My mom and dad have been asking me to bring a boyfriend back home on Chinese New Year.
I was wondering if you could come with me... But if you don't want to meet my parents yet, you don't have to——"
"Of course I can. You know what, we can marry next week and call your entire family over instead if you want."
Xiaoyun's suggestion caught Leyan a little off guard, as she didn't expect him to say it outright.
"W-What? Is that a little too fast?"
"I think it is a perfect time. I missed you too much, and I don't want to lose you again."
Just as Xiaoyun said it out loud, he was quickly snapped back to reality by her comment.
"But but... you are still injured." Leyan murmured as she looked back at his bandaged body.
"Oh, right. Shit. I completely forgot that. You don't mind waiting for a month, right?"
"I don't mind it."
As the two of them sat together in awkward silence, they were interrupted by the door suddenly opening.
"Hey, Leyan. What's taking so long?"
Another nurse asked as she walked into the room, freezing in place after noticing how close the two were.
"Oh, um, please enjoy your time. Just pretend I never came here."
The nurse immediately closed the door and left, leaving Leyan blushing red as she quickly moved back to her seat.
"This is all your fault... They are going to gossip the entire office because of this now."
Leyan murmured as she lifted the clipboard to cover her face, turning her attention back to her work.
"Well, I can't move, so surely it can't be me who moved closer to you." Xiaoyun jokingly pointed out.
"Hmph, you dummy..."
---
After Leyan finished checking his body to be fine, she quickly gathered up her stuff before getting ready to leave.
"Hey, Leyan, can you help me with something?" Xiaoyun suddenly requested.
"What is it?"
As Leyan turned back around, she was shocked to see his eye signals looking down to his crotch.
"Please, I haven't used the restroom for quite a while now. I really need to pee." Xiaoyun shyly whispered.
"I'll go get the bedpan... Just give me a second."
As Leyan turned around, her mind drifted all over the place despite it being just a part of her job.
"Don't make it weird... I'm a nurse. I'm just helping patients. You have done this kind of stuff a thousand times."
After waiting for a minute, she finally came back to the room. But her hand was only holding a plastic water bottle.
"We ran out of bedpans and urinal. They said it would be at least several minutes before there was one available."
Leyan quickly hands the bottle to Xiaoyun, only for the bottle to fall straight to the ground.
"I'm so sorry. I completely forgot about your injury. Give me a second to prepare."
She quickly picked up the bottle and just stood there as her brain couldn't continue the next step.
"Why am I so nervous? Leyan, stop panicking! You are a nurse now. You can't shy away from patients needing help!"
After calming herself down a bit, she slowly helped Xiaoyun sit back up before pulling his blanket aside.
"Okay, I am going to remove your pants..."
As she pulled down his hospital gown, her heart was racing like crazy after noticing Xiaoyun was staring at her face.
"Just imagine he is just another patient. He isn't Songming, just a normal patient."
Leyan thought to herself as she slowly inserted Xiaoyun's cock into the bottle.
"You can pee now..." Leyan softly stated with a straight face.
"I can't... I just can't do it in front of someone," Xiaoyun shyly responded, and nothing came out.
"How about I put on the blanket... Can you do it now?"
After pulling the blanket over to cover everything, Xiaoyun still shook his head.
"I am trying to, but... it's getting harder."
"What? Harder?"
Leyan quickly flipped the blanket over, only to see his cock had gotten so erect that it was started to be choked by the bottle hole.
Within seconds, she quickly pulled it out before it became fully stuck inside.
"Oh my god, why do you have to get a boner right now?" Leyan asked in confusion.
"I got excited looking at you... Sorry."
The apology only made the situation more awkward, as neither of them knew what to do until she eventually came up with an idea.
"You know, this is almost like when we were in the amusement park. You were so naive that you didn't even know how dating works.
We are almost back to how we started... Just like a mother teaching a kid how to walk."
"Yeah... I was so naive and clueless back then..."
As Xiaoyun's mind slowly drifted into the past, Leyan quickly repositioned the bottle back underneath the blanket.
"Pee now!"
"What——"
With a water-splashing sound, Leyan let out a sigh of relief as the warm liquid started to fill up the bottle.
"Phew, thank god that worked out... I knew I just needed something to distract you with."
After the splashing sound stopped, Leyan quickly pulled the bottle out before putting the lid back on.
"Geez, that scared me..." Xiaoyun complained.
"Well, you had a hard time. So I have to distract you somehow... Anyway, do you have any other problems?"
"Nope."
"Okay then... I have to go back to my job now. See ya."
"See ya..."
As Xiaoyun watched Leyan leave the room, he was now back to being alone.
"Leyan in that nurse uniform... it looks so lewd when the cloth can barely fit her."
Xiaoyun's mind started to think back to all the details he had witnessed when she stood so close to him.
"Shit, why am I thinking that kind of stuff when I can't even do anything about it."
Just as he facepalmed himself in the face over something so dumb, he suddenly realized something.
"Wait, did I just move my hand?"
Looking down at his hand moving left and right, his brain froze before he covered his face in embarrassment.
"Fuck! Why didn't the anesthetic fall off earlier? That was so fucking embarrassing..."
---
Two weeks later...
Xiaoyun had miraculously fully healed, going against the doctor's prediction of an entire month to heal.
Even after an entire body check, there were zero issues. It was almost as if he had never even gotten stabbed at all.
After getting permission to leave the hospital, he rushed back home to change his clothes before heading back to the office.
Everyone was a little shocked to see him finally show up, but none of them bothered him besides saying good afternoon.
As soon as he walked into his office, he immediately noticed the plan on the table was gone, just as he intended.
However, as he searched through the office cabinet, he quickly noticed some of the top-secret documents had moved.
The markings he had left to prevent someone from opening it had been broken, indicating that someone had opened it and read it.
He immediately walked to the security room to check with the security guard, only to find that no one had entered the room besides Li Xiao.
"Damn bastard."
After confirming his suspicion with the footage the guard had pulled out, Xiaoyun left the room and returned to his office.
An hour later...
"Boss, you called me?" A middle-aged man asked as he walked inside Xiaoyun's office.
"Yes, I just wanted to say I am happy with your work, Li Xiao..."
Xiaoyun murmured as he held onto Li Xiao's report, seemingly happy and smiling.
"Thank you, boss——"
"But why did you betray the company? Did someone give you more money?"
The change surprised Li Xiao a little as he watched Xiaoyun throw the work progress onto the table.
"What? I would never do that, boss... You must be a mistake, boss."
Despite Li Xiao's reassurance, Xiaoyun didn't trust it a little bit. Instead, he only got more suspicion.
"Maybe I should tell you that there is a camera in this room. I saw you go through my desk drawer and then my cabinet.
When did I ask you to open my cabinet and take pictures? I only told you to take the plan on the table."
A long silence appeared between the two as Xiaoyun waited for his response, hoping that his bluff was working.
"I am sorry, boss... My wife was severely ill, and he gave me an offer I couldn't refuse." Li Xiao nervously responded.
"I hope you know this is corporate espionage. It will land you in prison right now... But I am willing to forgive you if you reveal who's behind this. You will be able to go to HR to collect your severance pay."
As Xiaoyun got up from his seat, Li Xiao finally couldn't handle the pressure and confessed it.
"It's our trading partner. He told me that a group of people wanted you to die after you refused to bring the company public again.
But after hearing you survived, he told me to take as many important documents as possible to damage our expansion plans."
Li Xiao's answer only caused Xiaoyun a headache as he began to realize it was much worse than he could have imagined.
"You can go now... Don't ever come back to the company." Xiaoyun murmured as he sat back in his seat.
"Thank you, boss."
With Li Xiao gone, Xiaoyun was now sitting alone in his office, thinking back to the last few phone calls with his trading partner.
"What if the trading partner goes after Leyan? Maybe I should hire some security. But how can I make sure that they are safe?"
After a long time alone in his room, Xiaoyun eventually took out his phone and called his trading partner.
"Good morning, Mr.Chen. Is there something I can help you with?"
"I just wanted to ask something... When do you think it's a good time for my company to go public?"
"What? Ahem, it's up to you, Mr.Chen. But if I were you, I would make it go public within three or four years at the very most.
Oh, I had heard that some government officials would even love to be able to invest some money into such a big and valuable company."
Xiaoyun clenched his fist in anger as he realized they were trying to take the fruit of his labor for practically free.
More importantly, he realized his stabbing was not just a business feud. He had touched a cake that he wasn't allowed to get.
"Thank you... I will go public in four years. I hope you can invest in my company when it goes public."
"Of course——"
Xiaoyun hung up the phone before the trading partner could hear him, smashing the table in anger.
"Fucking bastard. Of course, everyone wants a piece of it. It always never goes according to plan."
After letting out his frustration, Xiaoyun quickly calmed back down as he thought of his next steps.
"Maybe Grandpa was right. Maybe I should have maintained the status quo..."
With nothing much to do and his mind being all fuzzy, Xiaoyun took out his phone and called Leyan.
"Leyan, are you still working?"
"Just finish my shift right now... Wait, are you out of the hospital?"
"I am coming over to pick you up."
Xiaoyun hung up the phone before Leyan could ask anything, locking everything in the office room before leaving.
---
After calling his driver, Xiaoyun quickly took the car over for himself and drove off to the hospital.
As soon as he saw Leyan standing right by the hospital entrance, he quickly found a spot to park nearby.
"Right here!" Xiaoyun yelled as he waved his hand.
"Geez, did you have to bring so much attention?" Leyan shyly ran over to his car as her face blushed red.
"So what? You're my fiancee at this point... Anyway, what's that thing on your hand?"
Xiaoyun curiously asked, noticing the bird-shaped thing in her hand as they entered the car.
"This is a paper crane I made for your good health... But I didn't expect you to get out of the hospital so fast."
"I guess I should go back into the hospital bed——"
"Shush! Don't jinx yourself like that."
Leyan interrupted as she covered Xiaoyun's mouth with her hand, only letting go after seeing him nod.
"Thank you for the gift."
Xiaoyun quickly switched the rear-view mirror charm to the paper crane before they put their seatbelts on.
"Anyway, you didn't answer my question. How did you get out of the hospital so fast?" Leyan curiously asked.
"What can I say? My body just healed faster than most people. I think my body has gotten used to being hurt so much, I guess."
"Huh... That sounds ridiculous."
"That's what the doctor said before he checked everything... Anyway, where do you live?"
"It's just down the road. Just keep driving forward until I tell you to stop."
Xiaoyun started the car and drove forward as Leyan watched the car drive past the different streets.
"Leyan, do you take the bus to work every day?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"Yeah... What's wrong?" Leyan asked, noticing his tone sounding as if he had a little problem.
"I can drive you to work if you want," Xiaoyun offered.
After a moment of comparing the hot, cramped bus to an air-conditioned car, she quickly accepted the offer.
"Sure. But how about your work? Wouldn't it conflict with your busy schedule?"
"It's fine. My job is going to be extremely flexible soon... If you really want, I can support you if you don't want to work at all."
"No, thanks. I like this job. It feels nice to be able to help others... And I don't want to be seen as a gold digger."
As Leyan muttered the last part to herself, Xiaoyun quickly realized he had overstepped his line.
"Okay, then I pick you up every day. That sounds like a pretty good job to me being a driver." Xiaoyun joked.
"Of course, you should be thankful that you get the privilege to pick the queen up."
The two of them both let out a small laugh as they realized how absurd they sounded before arriving at an oddly empty street.
"Okay, you can stop now," Leyan murmured.
"You sure it's here?"
As Xiaoyun took a look at the building, he was surprised to see a hotel with cracks all over the walls and floors.
"Yeah... Sorry that I ain't rich like a certain individual. I have to make every penny count.
Nor do I have time to find a place when someone keeps requesting me as their specialty nurse and kept asking me to stay overtime."
As Leyan exited the car, Xiaoyun awkwardly coughed a little before exiting the car as well.
"Ahem, if you want, you can stay at my place. I got plenty of empty rooms." Xiaoyun suggested.
"Sureee... Just kidding. It's never going to happen. I'm not going to just freeload off of you."
As the two of them entered the hotel, a heated argument suddenly broke out in front of them.
"Hand over all the money, or someone is going to get hurt here."
The masked man at the counter suddenly draws out a knife and points it at the clerk.
"So be it, stab me. I got nothing on me, and this business is the poorest in the town. You literally came to the worst place to rob.
I don't know why you even came here to rob this place when there are three other national chain restaurants nearby."
The clerk just stood there and did nothing, adamantly crossing her arms, showing zero signs of cooperation.
"Fuck you, I hope this damn place goes bankrupt."
Just as the masked man turned around, he immediately noticed Leyan and Xiaoyun standing right behind him the whole time.
"Hey, you two, hand over all your valuables. Or I am going to stab you. This knife is real deadly."
The masked man pointed the knife at the two as he pointed at his ragged bag.
"Okay, okay, just don't hurt us."
Leyan immediately took out her phone and wallet, handing them over before the masked man looked over to Xiaoyun.
"How about you? Don't play stupid thinking you're tough with that suit. Hand me your money before I stab you."
The masked man started swinging his knife around to threaten Xiaoyun, but it was clear he didn't intend to 'hurt' anyone.
"Hey buddy, you might want to look behind you."
Xiaoyun tried to hold in a smile but accidentally laughed out loud, and Leyan soon joined in.
"Do I look stupid? What the hell you laughing——"
Before he could finish talking, the masked man was instantly knocked out by the clerk holding a chair.
"Dumbass, what makes you think you can rob my hotel? You went to the wrong place, ptui."
The clerk spits on him and immediately takes out her phone to call the police.
Xiaoyun quickly ran up to the bag, taking out Leyan's phone and wallet before handing it back to him.
"You are not staying here tonight. Don't argue with me." Xiaoyun demanded as they headed upstairs.
"Fine. Just in your place for one day, though. Then I move out the next day."
"You wouldn't want to leave after being in the house for one day. I promise."
"Yeah, yeah, sure."
As Leyan answered back, they finally arrived at her hotel room.
The hotel room was just as Xiaoyun expected. It had a single bed, a table, and a tiny restroom.
"Help me pack everything up then."
Leyan quickly opened her suitcase and started packing, with Xiaoyun gathering everything closer to her to put away.
Just as they were about to finish putting everything away, he noticed a family picture.
"Is this your parent?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"Yeah, that was when I was still a small kid. My mom and dad are much older now..."
Leyan takes the picture away from Xiaoyun's hand and puts it in the suitcase.
"Okay, we are all packed up now," Leyan murmured as she finally closed the suitcase.
"Let me hold it."
Xiaoyun takes the suitcase and carries it downstairs, with Leyan behind him.
"I would like to check out," Leyan asked as she walked over to the front counter.
"No refund for early leaving. You still have one more week."
The clerk pointed to the sign on the side, which had the word no refund right in bold.
"Oh, I must have missed it. Thank you."
Leyan thanked the clerk as she turned around, following Xiaoyun straight to his car.
Unfortunately, the 'nice' scene will be in the next chapter. However, I can promise that at least the next two chapters will be filled with 'interesting' and 'exploration'.
