Chapter 30: Raiding Vampire Base

"How are you getting all these golds, Vale?"

I give Yasaka a grin and say.

"You did not know how much the vampires love gold, Yasaka."

"Ah~ I understand. All of these are loot, huh?"

"Yup."

And I did not lie either. All of those things are loot from another world. If not for us not having a massive vault and time, we would have dried that world of their gold. For now, we only take half of what is inside Fort Knox of that world.

"They must hate you guys if you manage to take this many golds from their treasury."

"They already hate us for not being vampires, Yasaka. I don't think they need more reasons to hate us."

"Fair enough."

We stop talking when I see the Senjutsu Master walk toward me and say.

"The ritual will start in three days."

I look at Aria and see her nodding her head. I smile and say.

"Great! Do you need other things, elder?"

"No. Ensure she did not eat the night before the ritual and the following morning. She can drink water and nothing else. She cannot drink juice, soda, or alcohol until the ritual day. After that, you can continue what you eat and drink."

Aria nods her head and says.

"I understand, elder."

The woman nods her head and leaves us alone.

"She is a bit strict, huh?"

"She needs to be. She is a healer and can be a strict person when it comes to her patients. However, she is gentle when you are not her patient."

"Fair enough. Anyway, I need to return to Romania."

"That fast? Let's eat something first before you go back."

I shake my head and give her a small smile.

"Sadly, no, Yasaka. There is trouble brewing near my city, and I need to investigate to see if it is something that I need to take care of immediately."

"Vampire?"

"Yes. They are starting to move once again, and we need to know why. It is still morning there, and we need to snoop before the sun goes down."

It is 5 PM in Kyoto, but it is just before noon in Bucharest. We decide to do some investigation when the sun is above us as we know that the vampires will be asleep or at least at their weakest. We have power, but that does not mean we can go around recklessly doing an investigation at night or when the sun is not above us.

"Do you need some help? I can send a squad or two to help you."

"As much as I want to accept your offer, it is better for fewer people to do the investigation."

"Very well."

She leans over and gives me a quick kiss.

"Be careful."

"I will."

After returning from Kyoto, my guardians and some of our family members accompanied us. I only bring fifteen people, excluding my guardians, but they are the best people in my faction.

"Is this the place?"

I ask one of my crew and see her nod.

"Yes, boss. They are deep underground."

As expected of a vampire. They choose the most cliche place to make a base. What is in front of me is an abandoned church on the edge of the city, surrounded by trees that block some of the sunlight.

"How many humans are there?"

"Ten human thralls that we can see when we follow them."

This is what the vampires use to guard their base. Because they need to sleep during the day, they will put humans to guard their base while the sun is still above the sky.

"Can they still be saved?"

The woman shakes her head and says.

"Sadly, no, boss. Their body looks like a skeleton with only skin, no meat or blood. They are a goner."

"Tch."

I click my tongue and look at the church in frustration. There are two kinds of vampire thralls. The first one is the new one. They are still humans who are charmed by the vampires and can be helped using purification magic and ritual. The second one, on the other hand, is the old thrall. They are already too far gone, and their mind is already broken to the point of no return. The only thing you can do is to kill them and let their soul rest in peace.

I take a deep breath and look at the Misty Squad.

"Spread the mist and make sure they cannot notice us when the Rain Squad disables the barrier around the church."

They nod, and I look at Felicia and her squad.

"Felicia, make sure the barrier stops working without destroying them."

"Leave them to me, my lord."

I nod and say.

"Let's start"

My companion starts to take action. Mist and Rain flames spread around the church. The rain makes sure to stop the barrier, and the mist masks the rain to fool the vampire inside the building.

It does not take long before Felicia suddenly says.

"My lord, it is done."

"Good. Lightning, to the front! Luca, take your squad to kill anything that tries to fight us."

"Yes, boss!"

And we enter the church. I frown a little after we enter the church. I can smell the foul scent coming from underneath the floor. I make a hand movement, and a second later, the Misty Squad walks forward and searches for the hidden door.

It only takes them a minute before they find a hidden door near the statue of Jesus at the end of the room. I look at Felicia, and she uses her flame to disable any trap or alarm behind the door.

When she is done, we enter the underground facility, and my frown gets deeper when I see a lot of cages in this basement. I can see one of my companions holding their barf at the sight of humans hanging on the ceiling with a bucket full of blood underneath them.

I quickly dash forward with my weapon in hand before thrusting my sword at the incoming thrall. I can see the second one looking at me and about to take out something from his pocket. However, I do not let him as I shoot out a Sky Flame bullet from my finger, and when it pierces through his neck, it bursts and burns him to ashes. I look at my men and make a hand gesture. A second later, they followed me, and we got deeper into the underground.

We encountered more thrall on the next floor. After killing them, I tell Martha and Felicia to take some of the crew to search for the other side of the floor while Luca and I search for the eastern part of the floor. After walking for a few seconds, we encounter a room full of coffins at the end of the floor. I already know the vampires are inside the coffins. The Misty Squad sneaks around the room, searching for any proof, like letters and books. After they are done raiding the room, it is time to kill those bloodsuckers.

I look at Luca and give a nod. He takes a deep breath and releases a torrent of storm flame that disintegrates anything it touches.

I let Luca take care of the vampires while I read the letter we managed to secure.

The letter is coming from someone called Dominik Tepes. It is about escorting two goods from one place to another. It looks like the goods are something important to Lord Tepes and Lord Vladi, an important Lord in Tepes Faction.

"My lord"

I look at Martha and say.

"What is it?"

"I think you need to see this."

I nod and follow her to the other side of the floor, where she takes me to what looks like a cage. However, unlike the cages on the other floor, this one has a bed and other things. My eyes look around the room before landing on a pair of strangers.

The first one is a young girl with short blond hair and red eyes. She looks like a ten-year-old girl, and she is currently hugging a feminine-looking boy with the same hair color as her, but he is wearing a blindfold.

I can see the young girl look at me and say.

"Do you come here to hurt us?"
