A Queen Denied
The Queen of Hearts grasped thin air and then let her hand drop on her blankets, the woman's red eyes peered at herself grasping the thick cloth in between her fingers. Bundling it tightly in her hand until she released it with a heavy sigh. The windows' curtains were drawn back but sunlight filtered through the space in between them, the warm yellow light pouring through the floor.
She was back.
Rosalyn Lockhart averted her gaze to the grandfather clock in her room, feeling her lips curl down into a frown. "What a liar," she muttered to herself with a touch of frustration in her tone. She hadn't even given her reply and this was what he would do? Send her away without even much of a sign except for him offering his hand for her to take?
Such insolence!
