The Job

One of the important things to an assassin is meeting a client. Meeting a client will let one be enlightened on what kind of person you as an assassin is dealing with. There are two types of clients; sob story clients and cold/ ruthless clients. The first type are the clients who would hire an assassin because they have no other otherwise. They are usually the ones that have a tragic story with them. They are also the most dangerous ones to an assassin. The latter of the clients is the one who just wants an annoyance out of their way. They are the most predictable of the two. Why?

The sob story client is an amateur. Once the authorities get wind of them, they will cave in faster than you can think. They will lead them to the assassin this their high danger level. The ruthless clients, you can always trust to betray you. As a wise man once said, you can always count on a dishonest person to be dishonest, the honest ones are the ones you should truly keep an eye on. So, Lucas was quite prepared for anything when he got a job from Amanda Waller and she wanted a meet. Obviously, he controlled where they would meet and he chose a densely populated area inside a cheese factory cafe for the meeting.

...

"I believe you are Jonin Cat," Amanda said as she took a seat in front of Lucas who was busy reading an erotic manga. He looked up and gave her an eye smile. His lower half of his face was hidden by a surgical mask so he was sure she would not get his identity any time soon. This was the universe where a pair of glasses would dumb down a genius like Lex Luther so he was not expecting much from her. Even if she did reconstruct his face, he was not in any database so he would remain a complete mystery to them.

"Amanda Waller, when I received the word that you were looking for me, I didn't know whether to kill you or just accept," he said, turning a page. His eyes widened seeing what exactly the page entailed. "How exactly did you know of me?"

"When an assassin pops out of nowhere and gets a 100% completion rate in four months of operation, government agencies tend to notice. However, it seems you know of me but I'm at a disadvantage," Amanda started, her blood hound tendancies showing up.

"Is this the part where I tell you of my origin story? Sorry, you have to by me a moon first to get to that point," he said before closing the manga with a disappointed sigh in his heart and looked at her. "So, who do you want dead?"

"Not dead, captured alive," Amanda fished out a file from her purse and put it on the table. Lucas went to pick it up but Amanda put her hand on it, pushing it down so that he could not move it.

"This target is extremely dangerous and his location is also in an extremely dangerous place. Once you open this file, you will be automatically accepting the mission," Amanda stressed. Lucas was taken back by her serious demeanor, making him look at the file with apprehension.

"I have a few questions and if you answered them to my satisfaction then I will immediately accept," Lucas spoke up, equally as serious.

"I will answer at my liberty,"

"Fine. Is the target a Kryptonian?" Amanda shook her head. "Is it a god?" Amanda shook he head, slightly disturbed by the question. "Is the target Captain Atom?" Amanda once again shook her head. Lucas gave her an eye smile and immediately picked the file. Taking a deep breath out to steady his nerves, he opened it and immediately got stumped.

"Huff, you are really asking for a tall order here," he sighed in amazement. The picture was of Deathstroke, the Terminator of DC universe.

"We revised your missions and concluded you are the best man for the job," Amanda tried to give him confidence.

"This is a jump in resumè, from killing world leaders to taking down Deathstroke himself! Do you realize if he doesn't want to be taken alive he won't be?" he told her.

"We are very much aware of how skilled Deathstroke is..."

"Skilled doesn't even start to describe him. Deathstroke is a fighting killing machine and you just made my job 120% more difficult if I want to capture him alive!" he complained. "Why do you even want him?"

"Simply, his combat knowledge is very valuable," Amanda answered in the most simplified way she could think of. But her answer told Lucas everything, making him start laughing.

"You want to make him train your soldiers?" he asked her and when he saw her flustered look that just appeared for half a second, he continued laughing. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

"I will await your news in two days," Amanda fumed and walked off. Lucas finished laughing and quickly started thinking.

"Two days, huh? I guess that will be enough," he sighed deeply before picking up his book.
