At the border [1]

The next day, an advance base had been established in Mississippi to serve as an alert point for Alabama in case of an enemy invasion.

Airon and the brightest minds of the S.C.T. analyzed it and determined that the easiest entry point for the CRM would be through Mississippi, where Airon's forces were concentrated to forcefully take Florida.

The current territory of the S.C.T. spanned from Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. If they considered the need for a strong defense to prevent enemy attacks, there were different defensive strategies. However, due to the difficulty of maintaining control over newly taken territory, even with 30,000 soldiers, Airon's troops were now distributed defensively along the borders of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.

As for Florida, Airon entrusted the task to Abraham, while he pondered the fate of the Tennessee base, where he had sent Tyler along with Shane. If they had time after taking Florida, they would consider capturing that state as well.

...

In the aggressive part of Mississippi, Troy Otto, who was in charge of an advance base, was sent there under Airon's orders, while the old Reginald, former leader of the beavers, was assigned to the border defense.

Airon needed a tough and cold-hearted commander to make decisions regarding the enemies, so he assigned Reginald a thousand soldiers to protect the Alabama-Mississippi border area. Airon himself was under direct orders from Abraham, who was preparing to take Florida with five thousand soldiers and numerous helicopters.

Twelve hours after Troy arrived at his assigned base, he immediately surveyed his surroundings while standing in front of the border base. He had been transferred here to lead two hundred soldiers in the fight against the walkers and to maintain security in the area. But that's not all; he had also been entrusted with the task of being the first point of contact with the mysterious CRM, an organization that had been operating in the shadows and was rumored to have connections with the government.

The base was located on the outskirts of Alabama, on the north side of the city. It was a dangerous area, plagued by walkers and unknown threats. The cold wind blew through the abandoned buildings and desolate streets, giving a sense of desolation and imminent danger.

Troy adjusted his bulletproof vest and checked the magazine of his weapon. He had been in similar situations before, but this time was different. The responsibility of leading two hundred men and being the liaison with the mysterious CRM weighed heavily on his shoulders. He knew he had to be alert at all times and make quick and accurate decisions to ensure the safety of his team.

As he walked through the base, he observed the soldiers in formation, preparing for their first mission. Some of them were nervous, while others showed fierce determination on their faces. Troy approached a group of soldiers and gave them a brief motivational talk.

"Soldiers, we are on the front line of defense. The enemy is not only the walkers but also the unknown. We must be prepared for any eventuality. Our goal is to protect this area and keep our comrades safe. We will not allow any threat to approach our base. Remember, we are a team, and I trust each and every one of you. Now, get ready and ensure your weapons are in perfect condition."

The soldiers nod and disperse to carry out their assigned tasks. Troy heads towards the communications room, where the radio equipment and monitoring screens are located. There, he will need to report to the S.C.T. about the situation on the ground and any contact with the CRM.

The first day of patrol was tense and filled with adrenaline. Troy always leads his team through the desolate streets, eliminating the walkers that cross their path. The city's in ruins, and the dilapidated buildings offer shelter to potential threats.

Suddenly, at a corner, Troy and his team encounter a group of walkers trapped among the debris. They are fast and aggressive, indicating they have been recently infected. Troy gives the order, and the team quickly deploys, eliminating the walkers with precision.

After clearing the area, Troy picks up his radio and communicates with the S.C.T. base. "This is Captain Troy Otto. We have identified a group of newly infected walkers in the southern area of the city. The threat has been neutralized, and the area is now secure. Furthermore, we have had no encounters with the CRM so far. I will keep the base informed of any developments."

A distorted voice responds a few seconds later through the intercom, and Otto's assistant's voice comes out: "Zz... Captain Otto, received. We appreciate your report. Continue with the patrols and maintain maximum alertness. Information about the CRM is a priority. Keep in contact and immediately notify us of any changes in the situation. Good luck, Captain."

Troy breathes a sigh of relief upon hearing confirmation from the base. He knows that each report is crucial for the security of the area and to understand the intentions of the mysterious CRM. With the patrol team ready, they continue exploring the desolate streets, facing the challenges presented by the post-apocalyptic world.

As the days go by, the patrols become more intense. They encounter larger groups of walkers and face dangerous situations. On several occasions, Troy and his team find themselves surrounded by the undead, but their training and tactical skills allow them to emerge victorious.

Amidst the constant battle against the walkers, Troy never stops searching for signs of the CRM. They explore abandoned buildings, investigate suspicious areas, and gather valuable information about the movements of the undead and any other threats they may encounter.

One day, while patrolling on the outskirts of Atlanta, Troy and his team discover an abandoned camp. Traces indicate that it has been recently used, but there are no signs of life. Tension rises as they investigate every corner in search of clues.

Suddenly, Troy comes across a damaged radio with the CRM logo engraved on it. His heart races immediately. Finally, he has found tangible evidence of the mysterious group's presence on the Alabama border. He picks up the radio and examines it closely, searching for any clues that could reveal more information.

As his fingers navigate the radio's controls, a coded message begins to play. The distorted and cold voice of the CRM fills the air. "Those who seek answers will find the truth behind the walls of security. Prepare for the future, live with order, and you shall find a long life."

Troy falls silent, processing the information. He now knows that the CRM is closer than he thought, and that his mission is even more crucial. He must immediately report to the SCT base and prepare his team for the impending confrontation.

After contemplating this, Troy secures the radio to his belt and heads towards the designated extraction point. Urgency reflects on his face as he leads his team back to the base. Every step is a testament to his determination and bravery.

Upon arriving at the border base, Troy reports the CRM radio discovery and plays the message he heard to his superiors. Their faces display concern and seriousness as they attentively listen to the distorted words of the transmission.

Base commander Reginald approaches Troy and says quietly, "This is significant, Captain. The CRM is an enigmatic organization, and their intentions are unclear. We need to gather more information and prepare for any scenario. Keep communication open with the SCT and continue patrolling the area. We are counting on you."

Troy nods with determination and prepares for the next challenge. He gathers his team and briefs them on the discovery and the importance of remaining vigilant. He emphasizes the need to gather information on the CRM and establish a defensive strategy in case of a potential encounter.

The following days become even more tense. Patrols are conducted more frequently, and security measures at the base are heightened. Troy and his team face more aggressive groups of walkers and new threats lurking in the shadows. Every time they hear a radio, they anxiously await any communication from the CRM.

Finally, during a routine patrol on the outskirts of the city, Troy's team is on the verge of being ambushed by a massive horde of walkers.
