Chapter 3: Explanations and Intro's

[Flashback]

"Mom, what happened to your side of the family? I mean, dad comes from a tribe full of People like him but I never hear you mention anything about yourself."

I asked as I was laying on my moms lap as she just gently brushed my hair. I loved when she did that.

"Well honey, there's nothing really special about them. They're just normal humans living in a normal town."

She said as she continued brushing my hair, now with a reminiscent look on her face as she just looked into the distance.

I ignored it and just enjoyed my moms touch as I slowly drifted off to sleep.

[Flashback end]

"That's impossible! We searched for her for weeks and we couldn't find her except a shoe, and now you tell me you're her son! How can I believe you?"

He shouted, probably shocked that the someone claiming to be his presumed dead sister came to his home.

I just leaned on my bike calmly and waited for him to calm down. Probably realizing his state, he calmed down and just looked at me seriously, with the Native American guy just looking at me, trying to analyze my face for some reason.

"Well, I can show you a family pic of us if you want, seeing that you calm, I guess we can have a decent conversation."

I told them as they both slowly nodded and gestured me inside the house as we were slowly gathering attention. Charlie just told the girl and the boy to keep talking out here while we talked inside.

When we came inside, he told me to sit on the couch as the Native, with his wheelchair I forgot to mention, strolled in and parked himself next to the couch. Charlie asked if I wanted something to drink. I just asked for a water as he nodded and went to the kitchen to make himself a coffee for both himself and the other guy.

While Charlie was out, I decided to talk to the guy next to me as I could tell he has some questions.

"Sorry, I didn't get to catch your name?"

I asked as the guy just kept studying my face as it was some type of complex art.

He finally broke from his stupor and answered me.

"I'm Billy Black, chief of the Quilute tribe here in Forks."

He said, before resuming his studying of my face.

"The Quilute tribe? My dad mentioned he was from there, you wouldn't happen to know him would you?"

I asked just curiously as I saw his eyes widen at what I said.

"Your dads from our tribe? What is his name?"

He asked impatiently as it was the most important question in the world:

"Geez, calm down old man, my dads name was Marcus Hale, wouldn't happen to know him would yo- "

I replied but before I could complete my sentence, he cut me off.

"WHAT! Marcus is your father! No, I can see it now, the hair, the face, it's all the same except your eyes which are like your mothers, you can't be lying."

Exclaimed Billy as he studied the boy even more when he found the truth.

I just shrugged my shoulders and just waited, which by timely appearance came in with a tray with two coffee and a glass of water. He was about to trip but I caught him time to avoid all the mess.

"Thank you son, more what was it about your father? And show me the proof you really are her son."

He thanked, then asked about the proof.

I opened my wallet and took out the photo of my family. I paused a bit when I saw their happy smiles and just shook my head as so have the photo.

When Charlie looked at the photo, he was momentarily stunned, probably from seeing my mom after a long time. He just gazed at the photo while caressing the picture of my mothers face, as it would probably leave a second later. Billy came over and looked at my dad with also tender like affection Charlie gave, just without the caressing. After looking for a while, they ask the dreaded question.

"We now believe you, it still amazes me you are her son, but I can see the resemblance, or with the eyes at least. She always like to have fun and mischief and she always gave away her ploys with her eyes. Now could you tell us where in the hell are they and why they haven't attempted to contact us for almost 17 years!"

Asked Charlie in a mock annoyed town with anticipation in his voice finally finding out where his long lost sister was.

Billy also looked at me, probably the same as he and my dad probably had a familial like relationship from the way he looked at the photo.

When I wanted to answer them, I felt something in my heart breaking. From the hope and anticipation they had, it was hard for me to tell the truth. I guess I'm still not over my parents death even after all the years I've slayed the blood sucking leeches.

"T-their dead….they were murdered when I was 13."

I said as I tried not to relive the memories but the feeling of uselessness kept coming back to me, as it was some sort of curse that never went way. I just shook my head to get rid of the thoughts as I looked at the mens reaction to the news.

Charlie and Billy have widened eyed expressions when they heard the news, the Charlie jumped up and started yelling.

"What do you mean dead! Wait you said they were murdered, somebody killed them? Who!"

Charlie just kept firing questions at me as anger could be seen apparent on his face. Billy didn't yell or anything but one could tell he was also angry at the news.

I knew Charlie, and possibly Billy, probably didn't know the other side of the world so I just altered the story a little bit. I told them where we were living before hand and what had happened, minus the werewolf and vampire part. I just told them some man just lived in and slaughtered him the town. From there, I was on the run for 3 years trying to avoid the killers.

When both of them heard how I lived in my life, they were silent. They couldn't fathom how a thirteen year old kid had to live like a rogue, had to live his life on the run when other kids his age enjoyed their childhood.

"Why didn't you tell the local authorities! Or at least come to Forks first where I could protect you instead of dealing with these things yourself! You do realize you have committed a multitude of crimes that could land you in prison for a lifetime!"

Yelled Charlie, still trying to make sense of this whole situation.

"I didn't have a choice back then! The killers kept following me wherever I went and kept attacking me, I could t put my new family in danger!"

I had enough and just stood up and yelled at the cop, which startled him as he calmed down once again. He just sighed as he took a pack of cigs from a drawer, which by the dust I could see it hadn't been used in a long time. He walked out of the room leaving me and Billy in the room with an awkward silence.

I didn't want to waste time guessing and just asked Billy, in Native of course not to have a Charlie overhear on our conversation.

[Hello. Billy. you. understand. me?]

I said in rough Native as I haven't used it before Ye than practicing myself and remembering my dads lessons when he taught me in the past.

Billy looked surprised that I could speak the language and he replied back.

[Yes, I can understand you. It's rough, but I get the general meaning.]

He replied in a more fluent tone then what I attempted.

[Good. How much. You. Know about. World? Know. What my dad. Was?]

I asked, becoming more fluent as I went but not at the level of the Chief in from of me.

Billy just narrowed his eyes as he replied back.

[How much do YOU know about it? Did Marcus tell you the legends of our tribe?]

He asked, apprehensive of my question. I could already confirm he knew about it and I could rest easy for now as I could maybe discuss the other side freely depending on how much he knew.

[Yes, dad told me. About legends. About the cold ones. They were the ones who. Killed my parents.]

I told him and the face he made was one of the scariest things I've seen in my years of hunting.

[HOW DARE THEY! Are you sure they were the ones who killed your parents! We're they pale of skin and eyes red as blood!]

Yelled Billy, I could see he was truly enraged when I mentioned my parents were killed by vampires instead of normal humans.

[Yes they were, our story started like this.]

I then proceeded to tell Billy what had happened from the new guy in town that day to my phasing. Billy was surprised when I mentioned my mom was a werewolf and it was when she was bitten she decided to run away from home. When asked what their diet was, I said it was blood. He was immediately put in a complicated mood but when I mentioned she only drank animal blood and could live off human food for a few weeks, his mood got somewhat better, although not to the tipity top. I mentioned how my dad imprinted on my mother and Billy's mood got significantly better. Apparently, imprinting allows the wolf gene in a shifter to find a suitable female that has a high chance of producing a child who would inherit the wolf gene. He even proved it by the little numbers of shifters in the tribe due to the lack of imprint.

He also mentioned how my dad was Billy's cousin and one of the most powerful shifters in the tribe. But due to his violent tendencies and unknown background as his dad bailed on him, he was ostracized by the tribe and ultimately left. Billy mentioned that since he was family, he had a soft spot for my dad and if I had time come to the reserve to learn more about the tribe.

I was surprised that Billy was also my distant relative and I agreed as I want to experience what a family was like after so long.

Anyways, as I talked more and more, my native became better and better with Billy correcting me some of the time. I told how the day I found out my parents were supernatural was the day I got bitten by my mom. Billy looked concerned at first and asked whether it conflicted with the phasing. I answered him how I became a controllable werewolf were I don't go berserk and don't have to survive on just blood and can eat human food as well like any other shifter. Billy seemed wary at first, but when I told him everything was fine, he seemed to give up his concerns and continued to listen to my story. So I told him about the Volturi kill order of my moms species and it was partially that reason I was being hunted down, as I was deemed a threat to their kind. I told him about my hunts and adventures and when we finally reached the end of my life story so far, Charlie came in with a very calm expression, probably from smoking those cigs.

"Looks like you two had a splendid conversation. I've now come to terms about what happened and know this, here, you will be safe with us, you hear?" Charlie said in a reassuring tone which Billy nodded as well. It honestly shocked me that I could have a family to rely on evident from the tears streaming down my eyes, but then I just wiped them and vowed to protect my family from any harm.

With all the family drama out of the way, we finally got to introduce ourselves properly and the other two kids my age came on as well. The girl, Bella, who was apparently my cousin, came here because her mom remarried to a minor league baseball player and had to move so to not intrude she came here to Forks to complete high school.

The guy, Jacob, was Billy's son and a bike junkie. I guess we'll be good friends as anyone who like bikes or anything mechanical is a good person in my books.

We had a long night that evening as everyone finally got along somewhat and had fun.
