Test and Reward

"So, how did you wind up in that warehouse storage room."

"I was kidnapped and was going to be that guy's next victim but luckily you came and saved me."

"Well, you have a useful ability so be grateful for that, it's the only reason that you're here."

"You don't have to be so blunt about it, but that is fair enough."

Suddenly, while they were talking a blue crack appeared in the ground and they fell through it.

"What the hell is this?"

"Shut up Iris, we don't know where we are. Be on alert."

"Sorry."

A blue hologram appeared in front of them, "You are going to be tested and based off of your potential and results, you will be put through physical tests and ability tests for about sixty minutes and at the end a reward will be generated. This is an opportunity only for a select few so be grateful"

Leonidas waited for a moment and then he appeared alone in a large room in the pitch black. White lights flashed all around them and zombies started coming out in mass numbers.

Leonidas used his Lightning and burnt them all down. Another round of zombies appeared and they were evolved to the second stage. Leonidas used Ice to create a sword and covered it in Lightning. He attacked the zombies and while it was very difficult to kill them all as he was also on the second stage, he managed to do it after a while but knew that he might not be able to beat third stage zombies in the masses.

However, due to having four abilities, three of which were attacking skills, and being much stronger than normal people, he managed to get half way through the stage before being overwhelmed and sent back to Iris' location.

"How did you do, I managed to kill a few second stage zombies."

"I got half way through the third stage but couldn't get any further. I guess it's time to get our rewards now then."

"Iris, you will receive a defensive necklace that will block you from dying a total of three times. Leonidas, you will receive two items. One of them is the Fire Element at the same rank at your other abilities. The second is an elixir to increase your skills and evolve them to the third stage along with your body, this will not work for any other ranks and can only be used now."

"Well that's pretty great for both of us. Me more than you, but who cares about that?"

Leonidas had information about the fire ability flow into his head and then he swallowed the elixir. He felt all of his abilities evolve along with his body. When he tested his Lightning ability it was black, this was the same for his Ice, Poison and Fire.

"That's really weird. It isn't just me that thinks that, right Leonidas?"

"No, I think it's just you. This is pretty cool and much stronger than before."

"Guess I just think differently than you."

Leonidas and Iris were thrown out of the crack that they had fallen into and were standing back on the street where they were before.

"I forgot to ask, how old are you Iris?"

"I'm sixteen, what about you?"

"Same, how come I've never seen you around?"

"My parents never let me out of the house, they home schooled me and the only reason that I am here now is because zombies ate them."

"Oh damn, good for you I guess."

"I'm glad to be allowed to leave and do what I want."

"While you will be killing zombies all the time, you can pretty much do whatever you want if you stick with me"

The two of them kept walking as they were going back to the school to see if any survivors had any useful abilities.

Once they arrived and entered, they saw multitudes of dead bodies on the ground and searched through all of the rooms for survivors. They eventually found quite a few of them hiding in a room on the building's top floor.

"What abilities do you guys have."

"Metal hands."

"Insect control."

"Super hearing."

"Levitation."

"Sword summoning."

"Phasing through things."

"You're all useless, for god's sake. Why does everyone have to be so weak, especially you insect guy. I don't think the ability to control bugs is good for anything. Iris, let's go, there's no reason for us to be here."

They left the building but on their way out they saw a hole in the ground that was not there before and decided to investigate it. They jumped into the hole as it was more interesting than the people in the school or anything else that they had done so far.

Once they got into the hole, they witnessed monsters that were different to zombies as they were more like actual monsters. They were huge ants with very hard bodies and huge mandibles. "Maybe that insect control guy could have been useful, well I will not give him the satisfaction of knowing that his help could have made things a lot easier."

Leonidas used his new Black Fire and burnt the ants to a crisp. He punched his hand into one of the ant monsters and gave its evolutionary material to Iris. "how much progress do you think that gave you?"

"A little bit of progress to stage three was made from that one material, but I don't think it will help you with getting to stage four."

"Okay, let's go further into this place and see what we can get from this place"

They started walking and kept killing the ants and eventually came across a huge room filled with eggs. There was a giant egg in the centre and it seemed to be a different colour than the others but it was hard to tell as it was dark.

As soon as Leonidas and Iris got close enough to the egg, it started cracking and two giant legs and two arms came out of the sides. The rest of the body emerged and a female humanoid ant monster emerged.
