Chapter 8: I Won't Come Back

"I've got a question for you, Luke" I said

"What is it?"

"Why is it that you and your organization wants to kill us? We are the ones who theorized and executed the time machine, you cannot afford to lose us" I said.

"Do you think the girl behind you and this stupid professor got the same potential as you? Don't give me those bullshit" he said.

"The only one we want is you, no one else" he added.

"But why?" I asked again, taking my chances.

"As you can see, we already had the blue print to your time machine. I was told that the only one who has the ability to modify it is you, Amiel" Luke said.

"That's a mistake, the time machine that we created is the result of our group efforts, we all think as one, I, myself, cannot do it alone" I added.

"Well, that sucks, we are pretty convinced that you are the only valuable one out of the four of you" he said.

"I will follow as you said, but there is one condition"

"What is it?" Luke asked.

"Spare the lives of my two colleagues here, after that, I will willingly go with you" I said.

"Is that it? Okay, I can do that. Besides, after we leave from this place, this timeline will be futile, that means that this timeline will be deffective, because it will be umpredictable, it has no use for us" Luke said.

"Glady, Reginald, you may now leave this place" Luke said to the both of them.

"I want to make sure that they will be safe after they leave this place" I said.

"You have my words, it is up to you if you're going to trust me" Luke replied.

"Ringo, are you really sure that you're going to do this?" Glady asked.

"Yes, I'm pretty sure. Kindly leave, now. Here, take your back pack and go" I said.

Glady looked really confused, but she understand what I'm pointing out.

As far as I can remember, I have put lots of highly flammable and explosive chemicals in my bag. It is inside a glass container and also a very fragile container.

"We'll make them explode" I whispered.

Before Glady and Professor Reginald got out of my sight.

I took out the taser gun at my back and able to shot two of the soldiers.

"Holy fuck! You three, get him!" Luke shouted.

My taser gun ran out of bullets, it is a good thing that I'm good at hand to hand combat.

They need me alive, I doubt that they'll do anything that can put me in danger.

I have successfully disarmed one of the soldier but I got punched in the gut by the other one.

I guess that are a soldier for a reason.

But that is not the only thing that I have in my sleeve.

"Glady, throw it all at once, now!"

"But you will got caught up by the explosion"

"Get her!" Luke shouted.

"Glady! Now!" I shouted.

Glady throwed the contents of the bag and the gas quickly filled up the room. .

"Go get Amiel! Let's leave!" said by Luke.

As they try to pull me away, I quickly ran to the nearest exit and grabbed the lighter in my pocket.

I lightened it up and then throwed it at the room.

*Boooooooom*

I hear the loud screetching of fire inside.

I need to rank as quickly as I can.

I got hit by the explosion in my ankle.

Now it is making it arduous to run, like for real, it is aching everytime that I try to run.

"Holy damn, I did not expected that it can cause a huge explosion like that" I saw Glady popping up beside me.

"Here, let me assist you" she added.

She tried to give me a support so that I can run even faster.

"Let's go! Get in the car quickly!" Professor Reginald said.

"But who'll drive?" Glady said.

"I don't know how tl drive" said by Professor Reginald.

"I know how, but I can't, my ankle is killing me" I shouted.

We both looked at Glady at the same time.

"It is up to you"

"But I can't drive, I don't have a license"

"Shut it, Cheetos, just drive when I told you to drive" Professor Reginald said.

While we were in the car, there is an absolute silenece, it seems like no one is invested in talking.

"It seems like our lives are in danger now, what should we do?" Glady asked.

"Our lives is in danger? I don't think so. Our familiy is in danger, but not us, I suppose" I said.

"But why? What happened today is a sign that our lives is in an actual danger, dumbass" Glady said.

"But we're still alive. If our lives are in danger, I think we won't be able to see Professor Reginald again, he's dead already the moment we got here.

Besides, they are also using taser guns, just like the one that I have, which means that they are not planning to kill us.

I'm the only one that they want, because as far as I can remember, Luke told us earlier that I was unconscious in the original timeline, which means that while I am here, my real body is in a deep state of comma.

I personally think that's the reason why they are only after me" I said.

"Then why did you assumed that our lives are safe?" Glady asked again.

"Because if they tried to eliminate you here, there is a possibility that you two would not exist in the original timeline. It will be a huge loss for them.

I'm pretty sure that they also value the contributions of you two.

They just threatened to kill you to convince me to come back with them, then it means that the two of you are still valuable assets to them" I explained.

"We might be safe, but I'm pretty sure that they will use our family or love ones againsts us. We need to be as cautious as possible" I added.

The two of them seems to agree with what I've just said. Personally, I do think that I have a point.

"You really are indeed quick with your thought, as expected from you, Amiel" Professor Reginald said.

"One question, Professor" I said.

"What is it?" he replied.

"How did you even know that someone from the future will come and find you? Glady told me that you're expecting me to come and find you"

"Actually I wasn't expecting you, I just recently discovered your identity through Luke, he explained everything before the things got worse. They've been forcing me to come for you, when I tried to turn them down, the forced me to come with them, and wait for you" Professor Reginald said.

"So that's the reason why, I see it now"

"But that only proves my theory, they're not here to kill us, we are still a useful to them" I said.

"But what's our plan? Are we going to leave things this way?" Professor Reginald asked.

"Of course not. If Luke travelled here physically, then it only means that his current self in this timeline is not aware of time travel and such" I said.

"And what will we do about it?" Glady asked.

"We can still alter the future, we can use that against him somehow, let's try to build a concrete plan, but for now, let's all go home and rest" I replied.

When I arrived at the house, I have seen Maia waiting for me inside.

What the hell is going to happen now?

"Where have you been? I've been calling you for hours, yet you didn't answer at least one of them, all of us are worried" she said.

"Sorry, I was actually visiting a cafe a little bit far from here" I said.

"And then care to explain what happened in your toes?" she added.

"Nothing to worry about, it is just a first degree burn, it is already aided by a doctor in the nearest hospital"

"You didn't answered my question, Mr." she said.

This is absolutely shocking, I have never seen her like this, even before.

"Some crew just accidentaly poured a boiling water in it, it was just an accident, I'm glad that it is all that happened, a first degree burn is nothing" I said.

"You're very weird these past few days, I have nothing to worry about, right?"

"Yes, there's nothing to worry about"
