A Calm Before The Storm- A Midnight Summer Dream
[The summer night breeze was cold as if to compensate for the unrelenting heat of the daytime. The buzzing crowd was filled with happiness; An emotion that felt alien to him. Aiden was out of place here. Until he encountered the child with eyes so empty, they were nearly transparent. He could see his reflection in that emptiness. That solitude and despair in her golden orbs deeply resonated with him.
Ah, she's broken… just like me, he thought.
"Are you okay?" he asked, leaning forward to offer her a hand but he got no response from the child. He tapped on her shoulder lightly and she jolted in fear. Had she been abused? Just like he was?
She finally saw him now, staring at him silently with those rare golden eyes of hers.
"You seem injured…" he told her, feeling bad all of a sudden
