The story of the first Duke

When Ren and Selena reached Selena's room Ren made himself comfortable and layed down on Selena's bed and start to sleep which made Selena shout at him that he could not sleep in her bed and he promised that he would tell her the story about how the first Duke got a contract with him.

He replied to her still laying on her bed: Well I hope you don't expect me to sleep on the floor. There is nothing else in your room to sleep on.

To this Selena replied being quiet annoyed at Ren: Fine I will ask my maid to get a couch for you to sleep on but now you have to tell me about the first Duke.

Ren: sighs (getting up). Alright alright I will tell you about her. You know you have to be the most annoying sword owner I have ever met.

Selena: Her? What do you mean by her? wasn't the first Duke a man?

Ren: huh! Of course not. The first Duke was a woman.

Selena: but in the history books the first Duke is said to be a man.

Ren:sigh! I guess I will have to tell you about her after all.

Selena was confused "why does Ren not want to tell me about her?" she thought to herself.

Ren: Ok the story starts with war that took place four thousand years ago between the humans and the demons. The dragons although also not liking humans decided not to take part in the war as they also weren't on good terms with the demons . They knew that no matter which side they chose in the end they would have to fight that side in the end as well so it was better to avoid the conflict as a whole. At that time I was not the dragon lord. But I was chosen to be the next dragon lord as soon as I was born. But there was only one problem that I faced I was quite weak despite everyone treating me well I know that they did not have any respect for me inside. One day the dragon lord told me that I had to spend five hundred years outside of the demon's land , get stronger and then come back then he will truly give me the title and abilities of the dragon lord. I didn't want to go from my home land but at the same time I wanted to get stronger so I agreed to what he said and left my home land . Before I left the dragon lord came to me and told me " remember child you will only be able to become strong when you understand that the meaning of strength is not in knowing how to kill it is in knowing how to protect."

After the dragon lord said that to me I left. At that time I did not understand what he was trying to tell me. But soon I find I did find out about what he was trying to tell me.

It had been two hundred years since I left home and I had gotten quite strong. I fought wild demons that did not follow the demon lord. I was quite certain that I could defeat almost all the dragons with a few acceptions. I decided to go back as I had gotten strong enough. On my way back to the dragon land I had to go through the battle field. I know that it would be dangerous but that was the only way. So I decided to fly across there even though I was told to not change into a dragon outside as a war was going on and it could be taken as a sign that the dragons want to join the fight. As I was flying over the battle field a demon sorcerer saw me and thought that I was an enemy and attacked me with his magic. It was the third strongest demon so the attack left quite some damage. I somehow managed to get away from there but soon I lost consciousness when I woke up I was in someone's bedroom my head hurted quite a lot soon a woman wearing an armour came in the room. She approached me and said that I had finally woken up. Right after she said that she took out her sword and stopped it seconds before it cut through my neck and then asked me what with a calm but pressureing voice about who I was and why I had fallen at the humans side of the battle field and how I got in as I was clearly not a human. They had a barrier put up that kept all demons out of the human safe zone and if a demon could get in with out them knowing then they needed how he did it. Realising that she would not kill me if I am not a demon but just a dragon that did not take part in the war. I answered her with out hesitation that I was a dragon that was struck by an attack of a demon and accidentally lost consciousness while trying to get away and ended up falling at there land and that I have no bad intentions.

After I had told her everything she suddenly pushed her sword in the wall behind me breaking it and said "do I look like a fool to you there isn't a single dragon in this world that could change into a human. At that point I got quite angry at her because she was being too loud and I don't like loud people so I grabbed her sword and broke it but as she had a point I did tell her why I could change into a human and why I was out of the dragon land. After that she changed her behaviour towards me quite a lot. She offered me to stay at her place as my injuries had not healed yet which I accepted it turned out that she was from quite a rich family but since she was taking part in the war she had to be at the battle field time passed quickly and I healed but she and I got quite close and I didn't want to leave anymore I decided to stay for a while longer as I still had three hundred years left before I was told to come back and I could get stronger here . I decided to take part in the war as I also looked like a human no one would be able to tell that I was a dragon just like that two years passed by and mine and that girl's relationship became more than just friends and we had two children they were twins but one day the demon lord did a sudden attack with all his force. They had found out how to break the Barrier to the safe zone. That was where our children were all the time as well. In all this panick I went to the place my kids were. I managed to get them to safety after that I went back to the battle and fought the demon army that day the humans finally defeated the demon lord and the person who gave the final hit was my wife but she paid for it with her life. A sword Pearced through her chest right in front of me I held her in my arms in her last moments. At that time she asked me to make a promise to protect our kids and gave me the sword she used to kill the demon lord and told me that she had put her last bit of magic in to it and that who ever can use this sword would be the next inheritor of her family name and told me that I might need to make some changes into it as she did not have enough strength to complete the spell and with that she took her last breath. At that moment I understand what the dragon lord was trying to tell me the meaning of strength is not in killing but it is in knowing how to protect and I promised myself and my wife that I will protect our family and with that I got the dragon lord's ability and I made a contact with my children to protect them and the generations that came after them. And that is the story of the first Duke Rose Agana.

After telling the full story Ren finally looking at Selena only to find her eyes full of tears. He got confused about why she was crying. When he asked her what was wrong with her? And why she was crying? So she replied by saying that the story was way too sad. To which Ren replied that she was the one who wanted to hear the story so she can not blame him now.

After calming down Selena finally gathered her thoughts and realised if what Ren had just told her is the truth then Ren is one of her ancestors. She questioned Ren about it and Ren answered with a yes. Now Selena regrets being so rude to him before. Although after she sees him him picking his nose in front of her she changes her mind and is not going to apologize for being rude. She thinks that it better to treat Ren as a friend as according to dragons Ren is probably in his twenties right now not that old but at the same time she thinks that it must have been sad for him being alone all the time.
