Chapter Fifty Eight: Awaken
It had been almost completely silent between Raven and Penny as they watched ember lay upon the bed. There was no right words that Penny could say that could entirely make this right. She wanted Ember back so badly within herself that she was hurting. She also knew that Ember getting dragged into this entire mess was her fault, even if they were friends.
Raven, finally decided to break the silence and try to talk some more with Penny to gather as much information as she could as to who Penny truly was. The familiarity was just too much for her to be able to bare it. And whilst she was normally very patient, something about this entire situation had felt weird to her.
" So are you going to tell me who you are"? Ravens questioned was ignored though as Penny continued watching over Ember.
" There is something about you that is different. Something about you is so different that it makes us very similar. And I am sorry for pushing, I just want to understand it" Raven explained.
Penny sighed " All you need to know is what I have already told you. I wish I could tell you more, I really do. But you have to understand that I can't" Penny truly did want Raven to know and whilst being here with her Mother was a dream for her, all she could truly do was focus on Ember's recovery.
" If we are going to work together, you need to tell me everything. Because any information you have could be useful to us. And also, your idenity could possibly get you comprimised" Raven added to which Penny shook her head.
" You have no Idea.." Penny leaned back in her chair and glanced over to Raven who was sitting on the opposite side of Ember.
" I seriously cannot tell you who I am. I want to more than you know but I can't" Penny explained again.
After a few more moments of silence, Raven speaks again " Witches do not normally share a bond in energy in the way that we do. In fact, it's extremely uncommon and impractical for that to happen unless..they are family.." Raven pointed out to which Penny did her best to conceal her shocked expression. Her mother was catching on way too quickly and Penny needed to find a way to change the subject as quickly as possible.
" You are a member of my family. And since you are from the future..you are a dependent of mine.." Raven was piecing things together and Penny could not help but to begin panicking as thick beads of sweat began forming on her face.
" But if you are just a dependent, I don't think there is much of a point in hiding that so.." Ravens eyes grew wide. " You...are you..- " Before Raven could finish speaking, Ember quickly jolted forward, sitting up, with her eyes opened so wide that it made Raven and Penny deeply uncomfortable.
" Ember! " Penny exclaimed with excitement as she leaned forward and hugged Ember tightly who didn't seem to react whatsoever. Instead, sitting there Frozen and expressionless.
" You were taken from us but we managed to get you back. I'm so sorry. Ember I'm so sorry for everything I really am. I'm so glad you are back " Penny cried out as tears began flooding her face and soaking Embers shoulder where Penny's head rested.
" I'm not dead " Ember answered coldly, still not moving much at all, which had caught Ravens interest.
" Are you okay..? " Raven asked cautiously, as she began to suspect that something was amiss with Embers demeanor.
" I'm fine. Please let go of me " Ember pleaded to which Penny nodded and released Ember from her grip.
" What did you see...? " Raven asked as she moved slightly closer to Ember, growing increasingly more concerned.
" I saw nothing" Ember answered coldly again.
WIthout another word, Raven reached forward and placed her hand on Embers forward which sent red sparks flying out from between her head and Ravens hand, sending Ember flying back down on the bed and Raven across the room, crashing into some shelves against the wall.
Penny jumped up and ran over to Raven and helped her to her feet, completely confused as to what had just happened. " what..what did you do? " She asked as Raven gained her composure.
" The Darkness touched her. She is going to need to be cleansed" Raven answered as she opened the door and headed outside to gather some herbs. Penny stared back down at Ember who seemed to be unconcious again.
" what does that even mean? " Penny asked as she followed Raven outside.
" The place that Ember went is both a spell and not a spell. It is a place where the darkest thoughts can manifest. If someone is weak willed or if they reside there for too long, the darkness can infest their minds" Raven explained. " If we don't cleanse her, she will never be the same"
Penny stopped and rubbed her head from confusion " So wait..she is infested with darkness. And you are going to cleanse her with what? Herbs? Is that even gonna work? " Penny was beginning to panic for the well- being of Ember and was hoping that Raven knew what she was doing.
" I am not sure. I haven't performed a cleansing before so this will be new to me too" Raven knelt down by some mushrooms to gather and place within her pocket.
" Oh well that's great. You've never done this before. This will go well" Penny was panicking even more now. She just wanted Ember back to normal and it was beginning to seem as though that may never happen.
" Listen.." Raven turned her attention to Penny. " I'm going to try my best. That is all I can do. I know she is your friend and I will see what I can do for her. But I'm not familiar with humans and I'm also very very rusty at this. So give me some slack" Raven went back to gathering the herbs she would need.
" Fine" Penny storms back into the house and sees Ember is still laying on the bed.
Penny walks over and takes her original seat by Embers side when she notices something rather odd.
Beneath the Embers eyelids, strange red glows are emitting. " What in the world.." Penny leans forward to get a better look but as she does so, Ember opens her eyes, sending Penny flying back in her chair from shock.
The room is filled with a dark, and deep silence and is only broken but the uttering of three words from Ember " We..Will..Die"
