As everyone crowded the buffet table Luz went to the human food section since it had been a few weeks since she was able to enjoy a nice human meal, "I will never take a burger and soda for granted ever again..." Luz said grinning as she was choosing her food offerings but then saw her mother come up to her, having decided that she didn't want to even glance at the Boiling Isles food offerings. Luz sighed and put her head down saying "look Mum, I know I shouldn't have really wandered off, went into that cabin or asked to stay and you have seen me do a lot of stupid stuff even for me up on that screen and plus I can't promise that you won't see me doing more stupid and reckless stuff..."
"Mija, I don't really know what to think as I am upset that you would try this but on the other hand, I am happy you are actually making friends there and I have to admit that I am kind of proud of what you have managed to do there. Though if I decide to let you still be at the Owl House; you will be under a closer eye from me." Camila told her as Luz put her head up and smiled as Camila pulled her into a hug. "Make no mistake though about me being serious keeping a closer eye on you since I am concerned about certain company you keep rubbing off on you." Camila told her and coughed looking towards Eda down at the Boiling Isles food section.
"You might as well announce it to the whole Boiling Isles that you hate me since you keep want to make it clear any chance you get sister! Why don't you go to any Emperor's Coven guard and ask about joining the 'We Hate Eda Club' as I am sure they meet regularly and are large enough to be an entire main Coven on its own!" Eda yelled angrily at her and then spit out her tongue at her with Luz giggling behind her hand.
"You think that my Mum and Eda will learn to get along King?" Luz asked King who was searching the pastries section of the table and picking out cupcakes.
King laughed and replied "Luz listen here, all the time I have known Eda and all the enemies that she has made... Not one of them ever changed their opinion of her, some may become attracted to her but it always ends sourly. It's better if they just stay in separate rooms when your Mum comes over after we are done here." Luz sighed as she had students coming over to check out the human foods and there was even Gus and Human Appreciation Society asking Luz and Camila about the foods there and other human related questions.
Luz laughed at their questions and gasped when she saw Gus reaching for a sauce bottle that she recognised and snatched it away from him. "Luz! Why did you do that..." Camila admonished but her face froze when Luz showed her the bottle; it was an infamous hot sauce and their favourite sandwhich place had customers sign waivers before they were allowed to order it on their food. "You could have just warned him not to use it Luz but I probably would have panicked as well..." Camila muttered as they started going to the large table about the size of a football field that Cornholio had poofed up for them.
Luz and Camila were sitting near Eda and King with Camila and Eda giving glances towards eachother, "So Eda, any idea on who would have a grudge against you in school to take it to the extreme of cursing you if that was when you were cursed?" Luz asked and to which Eda laughed.
"Luz, I am pretty sure all the staff and students at that brainwashing factory had it in for me at the time. I didn't make any lists but I guess there might have been a couple that stood out; like this bully I had righteous vengeance against for stealing Lily's lunch money..." Eda replied as Bump spoke up.
"The Abominations that you summoned almost overrun the school!" He yelled and then there were mutterings of students over stories of what they heard from their parents to which Eda grunted. Luz giggled as she saw that Skara and Boscha were choosing to sit close to the right side of Luz opposite the left side where the Owl House residents, Camila and Gus and Willow were sitting.
"Guess you might not be totally lame, even if you hang out with Half a Witch Willow and the human loving kid..." Boscha muttered and Luz glared at her.
"You think if Bump lets you into Hexside then you can tell me what books you humans have? Boscha, Amity and I are big readers." Skara asked putting her arm around Boscha's shoulder and she glared at her in return with her three eyes. Luz smiled in return but then saw Amity come over with her plate and sat between Luz and Skara.
"Might if I sit here please, my siblings already sitted themselves on the other side of the table." Amity asked with her straight face and Luz nodded with a grin on her face hoping to take a chance to further make peace with her. Luz looked at her plate and noticed she had taken some pizza from the human side, "yes this flat cooked pastry with the toppings did look interesting..." Amity muttered as she started eating.
After some time Luz wondered about trying to talk to Amity and realising what her daughter was thinking Camila gave a look to encourage her to go for it. "So you're siblings, they sure look fun..." Luz asked and Amity gave a humourless laugh.
"Sure to most people they look fun but try living with them and being on the wrong side of their pranks which they never really get into trouble for and our parents expecting me to be their perfect child. Your mother looks like she accepts you for being well you even if she did want you tone it down, wish my parents would be like that..." Amity muttered holding her necklace for a second and Luz blinked looking at her. Amity shook her head and said "forget I said anything..."
Luz then tried to change the subject and said "so you and Willow, the part about you being friends when you were younger..." This only got her more infuriated before she calmed down.
"Look please just drop that particular subject, Willow was dragging down my potential reputation with her lack of talent and to the Blight family reputation means everything..." Amity whispered but Luz noticed that she wasn't exactly happy with what she was saying. Despite what most people would claim, she wasn't totally oblivious and though she wouldn't push it now there was clearly more to the story that Amity didn't want to say.
Trying to think of another way to change the subject and lighten the mood she said "So I think the Covention is next; don't worry about my Mum being angrier about you... Anything there is a huge step up from almost getting my dissected over a school star badge..." Luz kind of realised that the ending of what she just said wasn't the best way but Amity gave a small smile about her trying to lighten the mood before it disappeared.
"Speaking of the Covention, give this to your demon friend and tell him I am sorry about the last one." Amity said passing over a cupcake and Luz smiled at her. It seemed that she was finally melting the ice queen; okay with a match instead of a full fire but baby steps.
Soon after everyone had finished with their eating Cornholio invited them back to their seats saying "here is the last episode of the past, please hold in your anticipation for the following ones which will be showing the future! Please be wait for the suspense, drama and I will see if you will be as angry at King that Luz was for a particular episode!"
Luz and King raised their eyes and shook their heads; Cornholio was probably being dramatic. Luz thought that the only way one of these episodes would get her angry at her cute adorable demon friend was something extreme; like say if they worked together on something, he completely destroyed her contributions to the work and then took credit for everything.
