Falcon watched the process of Aurelia's transfer in a daze.
They were putting her in a large ambulance intended to travel between cities. On his insistence, she would be admitted to the best hospital in the city and taken care of relentlessly. He wouldn't have anything less, of course.
Twice every minute that passed since she had slipped into a coma, he wondered if she would wake up. More than that, he continued to pray for her.
He had never been a religious person, but he hadn't stopped praying since the accident. His tongue continued muttering prayers...mercy, forgiveness, everything that he could ask for, he asked. He even promised to be a good person and not con anyone again. He knew his fate was fucked, but why was Aurelia being punished for it?
Aurelia Renatus looked like an angel being asleep. A shadow of a smirk still lingered on her face, her signature look. In the soft light of the hospital room, she was aglow with heavenly radiance.
