Chapter 4

[ Ranking ]

Mr. Julius slammed his hand on the table. He seemed very serious. He took out papers from his bag and told me to hand it out to everyone in the room. This was rather easy since there are literally only seven people in here including myself and excluding our teacher. While handing it out it seemed like it was titled as " Ranking Evaluation ". Well this proved quite problematic for me seeing as lately I've been different from everyone, an irregular. So if I get a high rank I'd be standing out more. But seeing there are only a few people I could let loose and just hide my rank from the others. I was almost done handing it out until Hina suddenly grabs my hand. She had a really powerful grip. 

<<Can you even feel pain?>> she asked me.

<<Yes. Yes I can, because I am human, the only things that I can't feel are my emotions.>> I then replied trying to be sarcastic. She loosened her grip. Right after handing out the papers the teacher told me to come with him. We went outside the classroom. He told me to keep my abilities hidden. I nodded. After talking to me I asked him if I could go to the bathroom. He agreed. While walking down the hallway I was in deep thought.

"It's not that I'm hiding my abilities for no reason. Firstly, I don't want to stand out. Secondly, since no one has ever seen anything like my abilities and Overdrive gear, some might use it for horrible things and it may be dangerous. And lastly is that I don't have full control. Sure having my Overdrive gear makes me able to use it, but the other two of my abilities are really troublesome. The first is the strength multiplier, with multiplying my strength even by ×2 it already becomes uncontrollable. With punching, sure my punches are strong but it breaks my arms at the same time. And the other one is Lightning speed. Some want this ability since it's useful, well it is but the problem is it takes way too much stamina, even if I just run for a minute I'm already exhausted and out of breath."

I got to the bathroom. I don't really know why I went here. Maybe so I can think. Anyways with me being here already I just washed my hands. I walked once again in the hallway. The other rooms seem to be quiet. Maybe they're doing the evaluation. While walking down the hallway, I was confronted by Stella. Something she said yesterday suddenly came to my mind.

<<If you only knew me through your father's files, why did you say "Long time no see" to me yesterday?>> I questioned her.

<<Oh that? I just wanted to make it more dramatic. Seriously it would be lame if I just said "Hi Kashi Kusarage".>>

I agreed with her. After she answered my question she continued on walking back to her classroom. I did the same. 

When I got back to the classroom the teacher told me to get ready for the evaluation. I wonder where we'll have the evaluation. The teacher told me to get ready but I didn't do anything in particular. Everyone went out of the classroom. We started to go to the arena. "Holy crap this place is big." I said. We went into the arena. I saw almost every other student in the same year as me, except Stella of course. We were in a line. "Seems like there are still a lot of other students in other classes here. It also seemed that Stella was the only one who was already finished. Maybe it was because her records were already handed in by her father. Well not that it actually mattered. 

We waited for about an hour until it was finally our time to do the evaluation. Luckily the guy that showed off yesterday wasn't here so that means I wouldn't hear his vomit inducing way of speaking. There were 7 students in our classroom since the others got tricked by our teacher. 4 boys and 3 girls. As the saying goes ladies first. 

Hina was the first to take the evaluation in our class. "Now I can see what kind of Overdrive gear and abilities she has". She released her Overdrive gear which seems to be daggers. The first test was our destructive power. They released the training bots. Whenever the training bots are hit it would calculate the destructive power. Hina dashed to the bots and with a blink of an eye, all of the bots were destroyed. "That's some terrifying speed and power" I thought after watching her. When I looked at the screen I saw her rating, A-rank. Also thanks to her demonstrating her speed the bots also calculated it. Her speed was A-rank. The teacher told her to go back to the room since that's where the third test will be held. She asked the teacher on what the test was. The teacher answered <<Intelligence test>>. Hina didn't seem to be worried. She walked out of the arena.

An hour and a half had passed until it was finally my turn. All of the previous ones before got a D or C rank on both destructive power and speed. I walked straight to the bots and punched them one by one. Suddenly I felt tired. I looked behind me and saw that I've left a path of electricity. "Crap, I was too excited and accidentally used lightning speed". I was too excited to finally end the evaluation that I used one of my abilities. Luckily the only ones here are me and Mr. Julius. 

I looked at the screen and saw my evaluation. Destructive power, B-rank and speed, S-rank. I sighed. After the quick evaluation me and Mr. Julius went back to the classroom.

Upon arriving at the classroom. I saw almost everyone struggling on the test, even Hina was struggling. The teacher then whispered to me saying <<Don't worry you don't have to take the test anymore since you're the first and only student to get a perfect score on the test we gave a month ago.>>. I always wondered what that test was for. I walked towards my seat and saw the test my classmates we're taking. "Isn't this the same test the teacher was talking about? Only difference is the questions are jumbled".
