Chapter 5

[ Standing out ]

After seeing Hina's power I understood what she meant when she said that she would have cutted my arm off. Her speed is also very dangerous. If she charges in to someone with the same speed she had earlier it would deal so much damage on the receiving end. The bell rang. Everyone except me handed their papers to Mr. Julius. <<Go take a break>> said Mr. Julius. Everyone went outside except for me. I was too tired after using lightning speed. "It seems I'm getting the hang of it though. I held out for 2 minutes.". I laid my head down at the table and closed my eyes. "Still though, there were 4 bots and it took me 30 seconds per bottle, while Hina took only half of that.". I was dissatisfied with how weak I was. But I just ignored it. I was falling asleep. It's so quiet that no one is around. It was so quiet that I could hear my heart beating. 

I opened my eyes. I was at a pitch black place. I then saw a purple light. It felt ominous. I grew and grew until it consumed me. I woke up. It seems like only a few minutes have passed. I decided to go outside. <<50 minutes left>> I said. I walked all the way to the garden. It was quiet as well. All of the students went to the cafeteria. I sat on a bench. I suddenly hear Stella calling me. <<Kashi!>> she yelled. She sat beside me.

<<Have you eaten lunch yet?>> she asked. I told her that I haven't eaten yet. She pulled out her lunch box out of her bag. <<Wanna share this with me?>> she asked. <<Sure, if it's okay with you>> I replied. She then smiled and opened her lunch box. 

We ate together for about 20 minutes. <<That was delicious! I'm so full>> she said. I wonder who cooked it. <<Hey where's your badge?>> she asked me. <<Oh crap! I must have left it back at my apartment.>> I said in a monotone voice. 

"Badges from classes A to D differ in both shape and color. Class-A has yellow star badges. Class-B has red triangle badges. Class-C has a purple diamond. And Class-D has a blue circle."

<<It's fine though.>> I said. Stella was called by her friends. She said goodbye to me and I did the same. Before I could stand up Hina yelled at me. <<Stay right there!>> she yelled. She sat beside me. <<Are you gonna leave me as well? I was trying to get you to notice me but you just ran away.>> she said. << No I won't leave you I promise. And if you need me please don't stab or slice me just talk to me I'll listen, okay?>> I said. She nodded. She looked down. I sighed. I held her close to me. I looked at her face, she seemed to be holding back her tears. We stayed like this for a while. 

It seems like she's fine now. I gently released her. <<Let's go back.>> she said. We walked back to our classroom. Everyone was there already. We got inside and sat down at our seats. <<Okay here are your Rankings. Hina, Rank A. Sandra, Rank C. Sophia, Rank C. John, Rank D. Leon, Rank C. Kris, Rank D. And finally Kashi, Rank A. This is truly disappointing.>> said Mr. Julius. I suddenly hear whispers saying that I might be a danger to them since they didn't know what kind of Overdrive gear I had. I sighed. I looked in front and saw Hina looking at me. "There goes my goal of not standing out". We continued with our normal classes. A few hours have passed. It was finally dismissal of classes. I was called to the Principal's office once again. I walked to the Principal's office. <<Seems like you stood out a bit. Luckily only your teacher saw your ability.>> she said. "I blew it". She told me to be more careful then dismissed me. I walk out of the Principal's office. <<Hello there>> a male voice said out loud. I looked behind me. It was another Class-A student. <<Who are you?>> I asked. << I'm Kyle Vermillion>> he said. "Vermillion? One of the great families?". <<Be careful now, don't get too popular otherwise I'll be lonely. I wouldn't want to kill someone.>> he said with a sinister look. He then walked away. "As expected. He's so full of himself".  I walked the opposite way he was on. I got to the gate. I sighed <<I can go home now>> I said. I walked home. The streets are quiet. I can only see a few people. I passed by a convenient store. I went in thinking that I might as well buy something while I'm here. I bought some canned goods and left. 

I got to my apartment. "I should train my abilities". I thought of a way to control my lightning speed a long time ago, but I didn't bother to test it out. I went to the door. <<Okay here we go 1%>>. In just a second I went from the door all the way to my bed. "So what I used this morning at the evaluation was 1% the only difference is that I didn't have control." I thought to myself. I laid down on my bed. My only problem now is my strength multiplier. I fell asleep. I was once again surrounded by darkness. As same as earlier the light slowly grew larger. Only this time it was much slower. A few moments have passed. It finally consumed me. I woke up. "What is that purple light and why does it consume me?" I thought to myself. It seemed like an hour had passed. I went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. I took out the cake that I bought about a week ago. I went back to my bed and ate the cake. "It's so delicious!" I thought to myself. 

I finished the cake. I went to the kitchen and washed the plate that the cake was on. I went back to my bed. I sat down. "Now time to figure out on how to control my strength multiplier." I thought to myself.
