Destiny's POV

Daria's excitement died right away after she saw the expression on my face after opening the door. I got inside without saying a word, and she followed me silently.

I closed the door in my bedroom door and collapsed in my bed. I won't shed even a single tear for Red anymore. My heart and eyes are now tired, and I am getting ready to face them again once I have the result.

Instead of sulking inside my room, I quickly stood up and undressed my clothes. I discarded the belt bag from my belly and gently put it on the bed. I dragged my feet to the bathroom to have a shower.

The cold water running on my frame made me feel a little better. I hummed as I lathered my skin with my favorite body wash and grunted as I remembered my ex had brought them for me.

Red's last words echoed in my mind like a playlist on my phone, and I had to sing a song louder than I could, making my throat sore until I finished my bath.

"Daria, I am going to meet Dr. Enriquez," I said when I found her watching her favorite TV show in the living room.

"Are you okay?" She asked as she lowered the TV volume with concern in her voice. I gave her a reassuring smile as I nodded.

"I need to give her something important I found in my mother's folder." I lied, and she stood up and sent me to the door; I bid farewell and waved my hands to Daria before I walked to the bus stop.

My mind was in disarray, but I was hopeful she would help me.

"Destiny, I had been calling you." My mom's friend said with a broad smile on her face as I met her at her clinic.

"I changed my number," I responded, and she looked at me with concern.

"I called you right after I heard what happened to you; why didn't you come to my house? You know you are always welcome in my home." She declared with disappointment in her face.

She looked so radiant with her white coat over her expensive dress with a logo of the hospital she was currently affiliated with.

I didn't ask for any help from her, knowing everyone who tried to help me suffered the same fate. They either lost their business or lost their jobs.

"Thank you for your concern, Dr. Enriquez, but I came here to ask for your help," I said, and her face lit up.

"At last, you came to me," she responded with a broad grin on her wrinkled free face.

"I couldn't wait to help you, Des; your mother would be disappointed in me for not doing anything to help you." The doctor added. She was in her late forties but still looked young and stunning.

I filled her in, and her facial expression turned to anger as I finished my story.

"Carmen wasn't good for Alejandro, and your step-sister was a brat." The doctor continued, and I smiled as I looked at her face flushed with anger.

"I am fine now, Doc; at least I learned how to stand alone without my father's money," I responded, and she shook her head.

"You are your mother's daughter and have all the right in your company's assets. Don't worry; I will help you with this and ensure no one will sabotage the result." My mom's friend said that after she had taken a sample from me, She used a cheek swab on me.

"I will call you right away once the result is ready, and it means you have to give me your new number." She added as she handed me her phone with my name on the screen. I edited the details by deleting the old one and keyed in my latest contact number.

"Thank you so much," I said as I got up from my seat, and she shook her head.

"You can ask help from me anytime, Destiny; I am not afraid of your father nor of Carmen." She responded with a smile.

I left her office feeling positive that everything would turn out okay. I went to the restaurant where I previously worked to see Pia.

"I am sorry, but Pia was fired." One of my previous colleagues said, and I was shocked she didn't call me. I left the restaurant worrying about my friend since she didn't answer my call.

I went to her rented place, but the landlord said she hadn't been home for three days. My heart felt heavy as I thanked and left, knowing something was off. I walked towards the bus stop, thinking about Pia.

Daria didn't ask about Red, and she avoided the topic. I wondered why she suddenly lost interest in my ex, but I was glad she stopped talking about him.

The waiting was killing me since Dr. Enriquez told me I had to wait at least forty-eight hours.

"When are we going to pack our things?" Daria asked me the night before the result, and I shook my head as I smiled at her.

"We are not leaving, Daria; you must prepare, for we will return to our mansion tomorrow," I said, and she looked at me like I had lost my mind.

"Why? Did a miracle happen?" She asked with confusion in her face.

"Tomorrow, a big miracle will happen, and I will get back everything I have," I answered excitedly, and I couldn't stop dancing around her. She laughed as she watched me sway my hips and throw my hands into the air as I sang my favorite disco music.

I was panting as I stopped moving around the living room, and before I could go to the fridge to get some water, Daria beat me to it as she handed me a tall glass with cold water.

"Thank you," I mumbled before I took the water in one gulp.

"Can you share the details?" She asked when I calmed down.

"Not yet, but tomorrow I will tell you everything," I responded with a wide grin, trying to contain my excitement while Daria's smile flickered across her face.

I found it hard to sleep as I kept turning on my bed. I had to search the Internet for relaxing music and listen to a different playlist, but my mind couldn't rest thinking about my first step after the result.

Undoubtedly, I am my father's daughter since I got my physical appearance from him. It couldn't be denied, and there was no need for a DNA test, but Carmen poisoned my dad's mind, and he needed a medical report to believe I was his daughter, which is hilarious.

I woke up with my alarm loudly buzzing, and I didn't realize I had dozed off with my cell phone in my bed. I usually put it as far away from me as possible before I go to bed, but I found it so hard to sleep last night.

Daria was nowhere in sight since it was still early. She must be still lying in her bed. I wore my racerback tank top, gray jogging pants, and running shoes.

I need to stay physically active and maintain my shape, not for Red, but for myself. Yes, Red has been a big part of my obsession with exercise. I overheard him talking to Lucas one day during high school, saying he liked his girlfriend to be in shape and hot, and since I was madly in love with him, I always found time to exercise.

I was young and naive back then, but now, I exercise to improve my overall health and maintain my weight. It felt nice that all my clothes still fit even if I bought them years ago. Yes, when it comes to clothes, I keep them even if they are old.

I wasn't like Carmie, who loved to go shopping every day to buy new clothes, shoes, and even bags, and she didn't like to wear them again more than twice. She was spending my father's money without care and must be stopped.

I returned and smelled of sweat and dust since I jogged near the road and got tired from jogging to the nearest park.

Daria was already in the kitchen humming her favorite song as she cooked breakfast.

"Good morning!" I greeted her as I got my shaker and the fruits from the fridge I sliced the other night for my morning smoothie.

"Good morning, princess!" She greeted me back with a wide grin on her face.

I excused myself and relaxed in my room after drinking my smoothie. I hit the shower and put on a simple dress that looked so lovely on me.

"Are you going somewhere today?" She inquired, raising her eyebrows, and I bobbed my head.

"You are dressed to kill; I am sure you are going somewhere nice," Daria added.

"I wish to deliver the good news to you later; for now, just be patient," I answered as one big smile radiated from my face.

"I can't wait," she responded, and we ate breakfast in high spirits. I said goodbye to Daria and killed time in the city library. I must keep my mind from wandering, unwanted thoughts; I only need positivity.

I ate lunch at the fast food beside the library and was about to finish eating when my phone rang. I couldn't stop smiling when I saw Dr. Enriquez's name flashing on my screen.

I quickly swallowed the remaining food in my mouth before I answered her call with an audible beating of my heart.

"Hello, Good afternoon, Doc," I answered, trying to contain the shaking of my hands.

"Hi, Destiny; you must come now; the result is ready to be picked up. I want you to open it here in my clinic." She said on the other line.

"Of course, doc, I will be right there," I answered and almost tossed the table as I got up.

I left the fast food gliding through the door, thinking I could finally go home to our mansion where I grew up, sleep in my room, and make my enemies beg on their knees.
