Chapter 9

"I'm so sorry you're getting these letters," Murphy comforted me.

To be honest, Murphy has been a big help ever since the queen has been attacking my sisters.

"It's ok, i'll get over it. That's part of being a princess" I lied.

"No," Murphy shook her head, "You should not be getting these letters. Someone is clearly angry about something?"

"Who is it?" I wondered.

"From what I heard, no one else is angry with you, but I believe it is the queen," Murphy analyzed.

"That's why she had kidnapped you and Phoebe," I realized.

"No, that was either Micheal or Nicole," Murphy corrected.

"Then, how am I getting messages? Who is delivering them?" I deeply pondered.

Murphy sighed, "Do you have your potion with you?"

"Well," I started, "Earlier this week, when I walked in my room, the potion was shattered, with drops of liquid spread around the floor. I also saw a letter next to the shattered bottle saying, You are next."

"Then the queens 'assistant' must've delivered you these threatening messages," Murphy predicted.

"Yeah," I nodded, agreeingly, "She secretly hated me."

"I heard the queen mutter under her breath that she's just using you for fame," Murphy informed.

"That's no surprise," I agreed, "She has been using me to replace my siblings."

"Did you think the queen actually thought of her 'daughter'?" Murphy asked, laughing.

"Well, kinda," I admitted, nervously smiling.

"Well, anyways, but the forensics will now search the note in case it may be someone else," Murphy suggested, "You may not want to touch the note since it will mess up the fingerprint."

"Ok," I nodded, as I opened the door.

I headed out of the office, and straight to my home, when I received a text from Alex saying he heard something from the basement, and he was scared.

It's just the laundry, calm down I replied, reassuring that he was safe

I heard a glass drop, and some movement Alex added.

Ok…. I speechlessly replied.

This is getting suspicious because people rarely go to the basement unless they need to store something or do the laundry, but I assumed that the maids aren't in the basement since Alex wouldn't have texted me.

When I arrived at the house, I headed straight for the basement door, where Alex was worrying.

"Have you seen anyone gone inside the door?" I asked.

"No, not in the past hour," Alex answered, shaking his head.

"Ok then something is up, and someone would have trespassed here without Serena's permission," I predicted.

"Yeah, and i'm scared it's one of those criminals again," Alex panicked.

"Good point," I agreed, "Why would anyone else trespass?"

"We should probably go in and see what's up," Alex whispered, frantically.

"But open the door quietly, and slowly go down the steps," I quietly instructed.

Alex slowly opened the door, as my heart was pounding. What if the intruder is right at the front of the door, and what if the intruder is going to chase us?

When we closed the door, we slowly walked down the steps, as I was nervously looking around to see if anyone was watching us. The intruder can come out at any time.

"I hear movement from the left," Alex whispered, slightly pointing to the left of the stairs.

When we made it to the bottom of the stairs, we tiptoed through the shelves and boxes.

"When was the last time the maids managed this," Alex quietly laughed.

"Shhh, they might hear you," I warned Alex.
