The Golden Chain

Athanasia Gruwéigh, who graduate with the highest honor at the most prestigious university in Glovarno and was recognized as the best doctor against poison, decided to stay at her home, the golden forest and met a chained man in the middle of it. Athanasia’s interest in the man grew stronger as she slowly unfolds the mysteries around him.  Marcus Parham, chained and captive inside the most poisonous forest is awaiting his death when a golden-haired woman fell into his cage. As his annoyance grew towards the woman another emotion is slowly surfacing inside him. Both are in the forest, one is chained and one is free. As they try to unlock the chain that is bounding Marcus, a series of forbidden locks was also unlocked. Misfortunes surfaced and the cost of the key is a huge prize to pay.  ----------- (ON-HOLD) She grinned happily as she looked at Marcus who was now staring blankly at her. She felt strangely happy. Tingles erupted on her body as she looked at him. She felt excited, excited to give her gifts to him, and excited to see him up close. It was a strange feeling. Maybe because she rarely see him and she was not used to being around him or she just kissed him taking care of someone trapped in the forest. "Have you missed me?" She asked as she grins at him. His expression didn't change as he looked at her blankly. Athanasia wasn't exactly surprised by the reaction so she just went near him cautiously. She didn't forget to cast a protective spell around her as she walked toward him. She needs to be cautious because he's still a dark one, who hates her kind. "Hawdy was outside again. You should take care of your fox more." She said as she slowly takes a step closer to him. "You shouldn't treat him as your bodyguard." She continued, now she's close to where his chains will allow him. Sound of chains getting dragged echoed. He stood up from his seat and he glared at her. Suddenly, he was in front of her. He moved as fast as a wind that she didn't even notice it. They stood face to face with each other. They were inches away from each other. She can clearly see the color of his obsidian eyes, his thick eyebrows, and his red lips. She can almost hear his steady heartbeat. Her heart went crazy. It pounded so fast and loud that she was afraid he can heat it. "Gifts?" She cringed and raised the bag.

The Fated Read

"I thought you don't need it? I already hid it." The shopkeeper looks confused.

"We need it and we also need an interactive map of Centro. Do you perhaps have it?" Dandelion asked behind the annoyed Athanasia.

"Well, I'll get the map of the golden forest for you. Follow me!" She ignored Dandelion's question and moved towards the room that has all the lights.

Athanasia followed behind the wizard. Behind her, she can see Dandelion grabbing Hawdy in the ear and he was forced to follow them.

They reached the space that has books and scrolls floating around. Its ceiling seems to reach no end with the use of magic. It seems like the area is inside the tree. The books and scrolls inside are floating around. From the looks of it, it seems like thousands of books and scrolls are in there.

"Will we float if we enter?" Hawdy asked out of curiosity.

The wizard laughed and stepped inside the circle. Contrary to what Hawdy thought, the wizard didn't float around unlike the book and the scrolls.

"This is what my husband calls the fated read. It's not a nice name. My husband thinks of the worst name that anyone could think of. But he made this! Isn't it nice? Come here, you three." The wizard encouraged the three to follow her inside.

Athanasia went in without hesitating. She felt a sudden warm feeling when she stepped inside the circle. The floating books and scrolls suddenly started to spin wildly.

The spinning caused a large gust of wind. Athanasia was shocked as she tries to grab her dress that is flying. The wizard has her eyes wide as she tries to steady herself.

"Is it normally like this?!" Athanasia shouted.

"This is the first time! You must be special!" The wizard laughed.

Outside the circle, Hawdy and Dandelion are looking at the two with wide eyes. They don't know if they should step inside or just stay outside.

"The shopkeeper is gonna fly!" Hardy exclaimed when he saw the wizard trying her best to stand still.

Dandelion was too shocked to speak. She thought she is lucky for not following them quickly.

"Make them stop spinning!" Athanasia screamed at the wizard who was happily smiling while looking up.

"This is normal! Many things must be meant for you!" The wizard looked at her while grinning.

Athanasia shut her eyes tightly, feeling annoyed by the wizard's smile. Threads cane out of her hands and it wrapped on the wizard.

Just when she wrapped her threads on the wizard, the spinning became more intense causing the small wizard to fly up. Athanasia grabbed on the thread that she wrapped around the wizard.

"This device is abnormal!" She shouted.

It seems like the device heard her and was offended that when she shouted the spinning slowly calmed down.

Once it calmed down a book and a scroll started to go towards Athanasia. It floats down as it goes to Athanasia.

Athanasia watched as the two objects come towards her. She wondered what are they.

"This is amazing! There's another one!" The wizard squealed in delight when another scroll started to go towards Athanasia.

Athanasia's hands are ready to catch the book and the scrolls. They slowly laid down on Athanasia's hand like they were meant to be in her. The late scroll didn't go to her hands. It just floated above her head.

"It seems like it's not yours. It's probably for your child." The wizard can't hide her disappointment.

Athanasia went outside the circle first. She went to the nearest counter and put the book on top of it. She opened the scroll to see the map of the Golden Forest.

Her brows furrowed as she looks at the map. This is the map that the wizard showed them before, how did it go there? She thought.

The map is detailed. It wasn't just an interactive map, it was a magical map that shows the current happening on The Golden Forest. It showed the mountain and the clinic on top of it. It also shows the palace where her brother is staying. Nothing is left blank.

"That is a nice one you got there. It is also an interactive map you can zoom in but not that much and you can also mark your desired location and it will show you the way." The wizard explained while peeking in the map.

The wizard was quick to follow her and grab a chair to peek at what Athanasia got. She was even quicker than Dandelion and Hawdy.

"Wow, that map is on another level." Dandelion said in awe while looking at the map.

"You can even see the monsters running around and some animals turning gold," Hawdy said while looking at the map.

"We can see everything but my brother," Athanasia said then she closed the map.

She then looked at the book. It was a golden book. The designs and lettering in front are made of you're gold and the edge of each page has gold around it.

'The First Gold' read at the front.

Athanasia turned the boom around to find the author but there was none.

"Am I supposed to read this? I already know everything about gold." Athanasia said while still inspecting the book.

"It was meant to be yours, you should read it! That two costs fifteen golds." The wizard said while looking at the two golden things that Athanasia have.

"You're joking, right? There's no way that those costs that much." Dandelion complained to the wizard.

"I won't get this book," Athanasia said and she left the book on the counter.

"Now, what we need is a map of Centro. Do you have one?" Athanasia asked the wizard.

"You can't leave that book behind! It will follow you!" The wizard shouted as she follows them.

Athanasia rolled her eyes as she walks to find a map of Centro.

While looking at the shelves the book flew towards her. Athanasia's eyebrows rose and she take a look at the wizard.

"You are using magic right? I won't buy this expensive book." She said and she threw it at Hawdy who was busy looking at the maps.

Though Hawdy was surprised he was quick to catch the book.

Athanasia glared at the wizard who was also glaring at her when the book came flying towards her, again.

"I told you it isn't me." The wizard said in the crossed arm.

"I found the map!" Dandelion said as she raised the map.

"The total would be fifteen golds and three silvers." The wizard said.

"Fifteen golds? That thread around you can be sold for 10 golds. Here I will give you another that will also get sold for ten golds." Athanasia said as she made another thread that is as long as the one that is wrapped around the wizard.

"You can't pay using these! These golden threads must be a scam! You won't be able to make this unless you are!?–" The wizard stopped for a second to take a look at Athanasia's appearance.

Golden hair, golden eyes, and the golden threads coming out of her hand! She is the Princess that lives in the Golden Forest! She realized as her eyes went wide.

"I'm sorry for my rudeness! You can get anything that you want!" The wizard bowed immediately.

"It is fine. You do not seem like a local here. I guess your husband is the elf?" Athanasia said as she puts the books and maps in her bag.

"Yes! He is out doing business with my son!" The wizard replied quickly.

"That's nice. We're leaving." Athanasia said while walking towards the door.

Hardy and Dandelion followed her. Hardy brought an interactive map of the Glovarno with him. He grabbed it when the wizard said they can take anything.

"Come again!" The wizard shouted.

"You should have told her that you were the princess sooner." Dandelion said.

"I forgot," Athanasia replied.
