The God of Calamity’s Wife

Centuries ago, war shattered Asgard. Tired of living in the shadow of the Aesir, Loki and his creatures of chaos sought the respect they believed was their due. Their rebellion, however, brought only death, exile, and the fleeting victory of the Aesir. But gods cannot die forever, and Loki’s defeat came with a prophecy: the war would come again, and next time, he would be ready. Many began to question whether Odin was truly fit to rule the realms. (But that was not my concern. I am an entity of death, a Fylgia bound to the cycles of life and fate. My interest lies elsewhere—with two souls cursed by Odin to live, die, and repeat their lonely existence for eternity. Sirius and Saoirse. For centuries, I’ve watched them endure lives destined for isolation and suffering. I’ve grown tired of their pain. What if they didn’t have to be alone? What if I could give them a chance to defy fate? And, perhaps, what if I could become part of the story that I’ve shaped? These were my thoughts leading up to the beginning of this story. But meddling with destiny has consequences. I probably should have paid more attention to that war, because what I didn’t realize was, by changing one thing, a ripple would expand across the realms that nobody could have anticipated.) Sirius and Saoirse, they weren’t just any Vampire and Werewolf that could have been brought together. They are creatures that must come to terms with the demon beasts inside of them or bringing them together might just end up finishing what Loki’s children had started. author note: This story builds a bit slower at the beginning and then picks up more action when they get to Asgard, so don’t worry, this book will have 500 chapters and this is just the beginning!

62- The birth of the hellhounds

"Impossible!" Odin's voice thundered through the room as he sat on his throne, his presence suffocating. His outburst demanded the attention of every soul present.

His Valkyrie looked at him. At this point, they had all surrounded him submissively as if it hadn't bothered them that half of them had lost their wings. After today, Odin would banish them to be reborn as humans; all of their effort to rise to their position they were in, would be gone. Still they stood by his side, willing to protect him with their lives.

Taz would have scoffed, but as he turned to see who had interrupted his fun, his smile faltered. Odin's aura had become so bright and intimidating, it even burned him as a wendigo. It was a direct opposite to Taz's aura. The wolves immediately lowered their bodies, like puppets, as he lowered his arms in fatigue. His puppets only moved when Taz held their strings, they now appeared lifeless on the ground once again.

He cursed under his breath. Had he given himself away? He had forgotten about Odin in his excitement. Usually Sirius was the one who thought things through. Should he just step back and let Sirius explain himself?

No! Sirius would never let him out again. He quickly tethered the dog's lifelines to his own in a descrete manner. To anyone else, it appeared he just wiped his hair out of his eyes. The dogs slumped a little bit as he let them go and then he let go of his grasp on them. Then they stood on their own. Their heads reappearing, now becoming dark ghostly flames surrounding dog skulls.

They were controlled by his mind, but they now had their souls back so they could stand on their own. He might need them later if things get too rough.

"Tell me foul creature how you were controlling them just now? Those beasts were dead."

"Perhaps they resurrected old man, how should I know?" Taz backtracked, his voice dripping with mockery, hiding the fear that Odin caused in his heart.

He racked his mind for a good lie, but Sirius was the one who was good at diplomacy, not him. He racked his mind for any vampire ability that could explain away what he had done, but he had none. No other creature but Loki and the Norns could do what he had done. At least none that he knew.

Odin's single eye narrowed. The silence stretched, heavy and unbearable. Even Taz, for all his bravado, could feel the weight of it pressing on his chest.

Then an idea sparked. His gaze shifted to Nanna.

"I'll show you what I've done. It's a basic vampire ability, everybody knows vampires can control the minds and bodies of their victims."

Nanna was still frozen, her defiance crushed under his oppressive aura. Before Odin could say a word, Taz shifted into a bat, his body shrinking and twisting as his wings cut through the air. In an instant, his fangs sank into her neck. He didn't drink—he didn't need to. All he needed to do was bite her. Then he dropped her and walked calmly back over to his wolves, buying his time for his venom to course through her veins.

He was about to initiate a lower slave bond called blood bending. It was temporary and would wear off in 24 hours. It was rudimentary magic, one of the first things he had learned, not nearly as powerful as his permanent mated blood bond with Saoirse.

His body began to burn as a bat so he quickly shifted back into a wendigo.

He liked how sinister a form it was, and how the Valkyrie feared him. He smiled in their direction with his flaming eyes and playfully burned their souls a bit. A skill wendigo possessed that he could do too. He wished he could copy all of the skills of the forms he became, but alas, he could not.

Odin watched with scrutiny as Nanna writhed on the floor from his vampire venom. He didn't worry about her becoming a vampire because she was unable to as a goddess.

"What did you do to her?" Odin asked impatiently. His tone was calmer than it should've been.

"Taz's grin returned. "The same thing I did with the wolves. Bloodbending." He let the lie roll off his tongue as if it were the truth,

He smiled with his teeth like daggers and felt the venom course through Nanna. It had spread enough.

With a flash, his hand shot out and her body was yanked across the room, ending up with her throat in his grasp. Showcasing the skill that all vampires had. Blood bending. Taz had bitten her because it was really his venom he could control her with, and not her blood. If he could bite everyone,Taz could have just obliterated them all right now with his mind.

But Odin wasn't sure. He could see Odin trying to figure out still how he had risen the wolves from the dead. They now stood upright as if they were alive, though they didn't have a head. Their souls faces could be seen, still trapped by their lifeline. They had become hellhounds. Completely loyal to Taz until he once again cut the string. Similar to a Lycanpire, in between transition.

Sirius had only used that skill once before, that one cold winter night when he had found his wife's soul thrown out of her body after falling off a cliff.

The object that had been dropped on the ground by the white rabbit was her spool of thread.

"Lies." Odin said, making his decision. "I don't believe you foul creature. I've seen enough."
