Chapter 45

As the liquid changed to a brown color, Adair worried that something may have gone wrong, but she calmed herself down because she honestly had no idea what had happened with the last exam since she was put to sleep during it, so she figured that this was just a normal part of the process.

The liquid stayed a murky brown for a couple of minutes before draining away into the bottom of the machine. When all of the liquid was gone, the doors to the machine naturally opened and allowed Adair to step out. The Elemental had a confused look on its face, and this caused her to wonder if it was because all of the tests failed or if it was for a different reason. So she went up and asked the Elemental how the results looked.

To this, all the elements responded with "strange". Adair saw that he started muttering to himself again, but it appeared that the privacy blocker was on because Adair could not understand what he was saying. After a few minutes, the Elemental turned off the privacy blocker and said, "it should be impossible to teach you magic, but it will be, it won't be easy.

She already assumed that this would be the case, though, and she did not expect it to be easy to learn something so difficult. Just out of curiosity, though, she asked, "why will it be so difficult for me?" to this, the Elemental responded with, "you were not blessed with an element so magically does not come to you naturally."

When Adair first heard this, she was quite happy since she assumed that if she had no affinity to any element, then that would cause her to be able to use all of the elements, which, while it would be difficult, would give her a lot of options casting different spells which fell in line with what the Elemental said.

The Elemental seemed to be able to read her mind, though, and burst her bubble, saying, "Do you really think not having an element is a good thing? Did you think you could cast spells of any element since you have no element? Sorry to disappoint, but since you have no element, then you can only cast element-less spells, which are not only harder spells to cast, cost more mana, but they also have weaker effects than their natural counterparts."

Adair realized that there must be more than that if the Elemental was saying that it would be so difficult to learn. Still, she set that matter aside for the time being since when she heard that she couldn't cast every spell, she became greatly disappointed Adair since this squashed her dreams of being a heroic hero casting all different types of spells at bad guys. But she was still excited that she was able to cast magic at all. She started to wonder why her mom's test graded her so highly when all of the tests here graded her so poorly, and her idea of her mom hiding all her good traits was soon becoming something that Adair was not believing.

She worried that maybe the black poison she ate ruined her potential, but she was pretty sure that Anahel said she was completely fine, so unless Anahel was lying to her, which she doubted, then there must be something else going on.

While Adair was in her thoughts, the Elemental brought some items out of his bag and laid them on one of the tables, which Adair noticed after running through the thoughts of why she was getting graded so low on these tests.

A short while later Adair exited her thoughts, and just then, just then, she saw that the Elemental put the finishing touches on whatever he was doing, and she headed over to him to see if her restrictions restricted her from learning primary magic.

Adair quickly reached the Elemental and sat down on a stool that was on the opposite side from the Elemental, and after she did so, she asked if not having an element would restrict her from learning primary magic. When the Elemental heard this, he let out a sigh and explained that no primary magic could be learned by anyone. Even people with no magical talents as long as they had a mana crystal.

Adair then asked what the difference between someone who had no magical talents and someone who did not have an element was? And the Elemental explained that someone who had no magical talents was someone who had no mana production abilities in their body, while people with no element were people that had mana production abilities but were not assigned an element by the Gods.

This then made Adair curious about how high or low her mana production ability was. So she asked the Elemental if the test that he performed earlier showed what her mana production ability was. And all the Elemental said to this was unnaturally high for someone your age and lack of element.

The Elemental then handed her several different books and said that try to study these before the next time we meet and then proceeded to turn around and then asked do you have any more questions which Adair said yes she had two questions: the first one was when would be the next time they would meet which the Elemental responded with three months, and then Adair asked her second question which was how could she turn or access her personal interface.

To this, the Elemental reached into his bag and brought out a completely smooth circular cream-colored stone and said, look into it. When she did so, the stone stayed smooth for a second before a line of text appeared on it saying, "Welcome, Adair."

When Adair read what it said, she was a bit shocked because the text was in Galactic Empyrion. But this also made her very happy since it was finally something that she could understand. She spent some time fiddling around with the stone seeing what it had on it, but unfortunately for her, all that was on it was a clock and a calendar which had a schedule for her to follow.

This greatly disappointed Adair because she hoped that maybe all of the materials that her classes had given her so far were not on it. Which confused her a bit because if this random stone was connected to this house's interface, which could translate any language to Galactic Empyrion, wouldn't it also make sense that all of her course work would also be on this device as well?

So she asked the Elemental why weren't the books that he gave her also on the stone, to which the Elemental responded with that it has been shown that people learn the content better when it is on paper compared to a magical or electronic device, so everything taught would be in the paper.

This greatly frustrated Adair because she couldn't learn the current content because it was in a language that she couldn't understand, and even though there was an option for her to learn the content, it was denied because apparently it wouldn't be retained as well.

The Elemental then asked if she had any more questions, which she didn't, so the Elemental got up and exited through a portal in the wall just like all of the other teachers had.

After the Elemental left, Adair took a quick glance at the books to see if she could understand any of the text but unfortunately for her; she was unable to, so for the time being, these books were just as useful as a rock.

Adair was frustrated that this class also turned into something that was so far completely useless, and until she learned all of the different language flashcards, she didn't expect it to get any easier either.

After she skimmed through the books, she noticed that the whole room went back to the previous theater-like look, and all of the magical instruments that were on the walls had just vanished.

Adair then got up and looked at the stone to see what was next on her schedule, and it appeared that a history class was next. That class was in 30 minutes, though, and while it did give her the name of the room that the class was in it was unfortunately not translated into Galactic Empyrion, and while she had explored the whole house she was not confident yet in her ability to navigate the house, so she set out to find the room her next class was in.

After a bit of exploring, she noticed that it was in the same room that her first class was in. She was still very early, though, so she continued to explore the stone to see if there were any extra functions that she had previously missed, but even after 20 minutes of exploring, the only thing that she found was that there was an attendance system that was attached to each of the classes and once she realized this she ran through the schedule to find that there had been a class before the language class which was called scientific class, but that was the only class that she was missing.

She wondered what topics were covered in the "scientific class" because, to Adair, science ranged everything from chemistry to programming, which was a huge span of different topics. She did not have much time to continue to think about this, though, because her teacher for history class had just walked through a portal into the room.
