Fifteen years ago, a demon plucked the forbidden fruit and ate it. He is in love with his host, and is willing to abandon his dimension for her. To add insult to injury, he is the one and only, demon king: Orzar His action came at a cause, tearing space and time, creating a gigantic wormhole, connecting our world, to another, to hell. Opening a slaughter field as demons, monsters, spiritual beings. Beings of myth and legend flooded our world. Starting a war between dimensions, millions were dead, and the numbers are still rising. Those occupations that seems like joke and witticism started to become the list line of defense from those beings. Exorcists, priests, taoist hunters stood out, protecting humanity and finally forcing them back to their dimension, temporary. Those who are still left were taught to learn knowledge of such, humanity needed to arm to the teeth to fend off the second invasion, that is happening fast. With Fei being one of them, a what seems like a weakling, but someone with a very complicated and in fact dangerous background...
A gigantic digital wall rose, blocking the rest away from the arena. The spirits hovered towards him, slowly at a walking pace. Morgan dashed towards him, swinging his sword, ending them all within seconds. With a slight gap to take a breath, the second match started. This time, double the amount. He cleared the wave easily, as spirits were like slimes in video games. Fragile, slow, with no intelligence nor ability, you can even kill them off easily with a pair of chopsticks.
The first ten round went off easily, but at the eleventh, things started to change. Instead of spirits, armies of undead started to form. First five, then ten, then the number goes on and on. Those mindless brutes charged towards him, he fought them off quiet casually, but after five more rounds, they got a buff, too. This time, the undead spawned were geared up. With rusty metal armours, copper hilt and a crooked spear. This surely increases the difficulty of the match, and the table was turn instantly. Before he could finish this wave, the next rose, and so do the third and it goes on and on. Soon almost a hundred of them swarmed, the disadvantage of the gigantic board sword was shown too, clear in the spectators eye. Morgan is already out of breath, gasping, waving his weapon flabbily, hoping to scare them off, but failed.
"He is done." Fei could hear one of his classmates mumbling beneath their breath, but it was not. Unlike the rest, Morgan come from a family of riches and power, it was a must that they've bought some scrolls and learn something, having a trick up their sleeve is always handy. Scrolls are paper with lost techniques and skills written on it. Some are passed down to generations but most are lost in time. Having one of it is a huge step ahead, the more ancient it is, the stronger the power it bestow. Those with the original scroll in hands are called as the "ancients", and those guys are someone you didn't wanted to mess with. Most of these scrolls are out for sell, at a mind-blowing price of course. So either you are going to purchase it with your kidney, or find one at those ruins yourself. There are also a few that is kept by the government, since it is too dangerous or powerful to wield.
Just like what Fei expected, Morgan thrusted the sword into the ground beneath him before placing his palm onto the sharp edge of it. With sudden determination, he rub his palm down onto it, blood splatter out as a huge deep cut appear on it. His face twitched a bit due to the pain, but manage to overcome it. He grab onto the handle of his weapon once more before pulling it out and raise it high, pointing at the sky. Out of nowhere, a dark red lightning strike down, impacting him right at the spot, sending sparks and explosion, those who are near to him are toasted.
"The third scroll of Azura…" As the dust settles, there stood a man, with heavy dark armour surrounding him, his broadsword got an upgrade too. Just like his armour, it had taken up a dragon theme, with a gigantic face of it engraved in the centre, pulsing. "Rising Dragon!" He waved his blade, harder, faster, stronger. The blade split the air, sending shockwaves, slicing the unfortunate ones in their path. One skill is all it takes to turn the tide. With a buzz, the time ended and so do the test. Twenty levels, he slice through all of it like butter. Even Fei couldn't stand but to agree one thing beneath his heart, he really is strong.
The diced-up bodies and limbs of the undead rain down as Morgan plunged his sword down and let out a deep breath. His armour started to return back to red and black particles, re-entering his body once more. He stare at Miku who was spectating all the time and gave her a flirty wink, she rolled her eyes, annoyed.
"Very well." There were no sense of emotion in her praises as the invigilator spoke. She pulled the protective walls down as Morgan walk out. With his last-ditch effort he tried to touch her, but failed, embarrassed himself once more. "Please wait at the cafeteria." With one hand she pointed at the other teleportation door, which Fei guess it was linked towards the cafeteria. While with the other, she gather all the data during that matchup to determine his rank, either way, he is going to reach the summit with that kind of performance.
"Next up, Fei Kosu." She repeated her actions once more. The arena was cleaned up with a press of a button, the same red circle appeared. Fei stood out nervously and headed towards it. Luckily Morgan is gone, he didn't wish to shamefaced himself in front of him. But the bad news is, Miku is here, too. He take a quick glance at her, she didn't seem to mind anything about him at all, staring at him coldly. What is he thinking and worrying about though? He is just a lackey, just a lackey…
He step into the red circle with a shine, the weapon menu appear in front of him. "Erm… I will take this one." Fei pressed onto the icon of a metal baton with holy spells carved onto it's surface. Digital code started to surround him, before just like before, the weapon was formed right in front of his eyes. He grab onto the handle and search for a switch. He had been learning about weapons for a long time, and he knew exactly how these things work. Sure enough, his finger tip touch something a bit rough and bulged outside slightly from the surface. He pressed down, with a hum, the holy spells light up, but at the same time, he felt a burning pain from his hand. Out of reflex, he let go of his grip, the baton fell to the ground with a thud, without anyone pressing the button, the dim light fades slowly. He blew his hand, which is red, with a visible burnt mark on it. W-what happened?
"What happened." The invigilator asked, seeing his weird actions. His comical action cause his classmates to burst out laughing. Great, now he is not only a clown, he is an entire circus. "N-nothing." Fei reached his hand out to pick the baton back, inspecting it closely. The metal handle is cold, why is it that hot moments ago? "Then we will begin." Before he explain his situation, the test began. Fei immediately raise his baton, his thumb onto the button, but didn't dare to press it down. His eyes locking on the spirits, waiting for the right moment. But then a bizarre event occur, the spirits all froze there, their body is still moving, fading in and out, hovering up and down in place. But they show no interest towards Fei, almost like they are purposely ignoring his existence.
"What?" The invigilator asked, checking her data. There are no mistake, these spirits are the exact same replica of the ones in real life. Sharing the same habit, actions and even the same trait. Upon seeing this, she stop the test right away. "There must've been a bug." She mumbled beneath her breath. "Next, Miku Sofia!" "B-but, M-madam, my t-test?" Fei stammered, he didn't wanted to get a zero, not yet. "I am only ten!" She glare at him, scaring the hell out of Fei. Looks like Artificial Intelligences is going to revolt, or either they just had a bad temper and sense of humor. "You wait at the cafeteria; we will diagnose your rank according to your physical and academic test." This news is literally disaster to Fei. Although he passed his academic test with flying colors, but he literally is lucifer in the physical test: a fallen angel.
"No please wait the cafeteria." She concluded simply. "Next!!"
