2-Chapter 2: Sara's Curiosity

Sara looked out the window with a bored look on her face. With her head propped up by her hand as she leans against the windowsill, the young girl thought back to the last time she saw her teacher. She was understandably upset with her teacher for what she did to her. Her trust in her teacher was greatly shaken thanks to this incident and it would take time for her to forgive the Silvered haired woman.

'Though I'm not sure if I'll stay angry with her forever.' She thought. 'But she definitely lost a great deal of trust from me thanks to this stunt. I want her to at least apologize.'

Sara decided that she wouldn't give her teacher unconditional trust any longer, but she would still give her a chance. Whatever that Vampire did to her didn't really affect her, not being able to bring up that night notwithstanding. Part of the reason she was also still willing to give her teacher a chance is because she still went out of her way to make sure Sara understood what was happening. Also, Sara has gotten a basic idea of who her teacher is, and that she wouldn't normally do something like this unless she thought it necessarily. Doesn't excuse the fact she broke her trust greatly.

Deciding wasting her day away was pointless, Sara left her room, her maid following close behind. She made her way through the Fortress turned Castle hoping to find something interesting. About a week after Lucilla, who Sara still knows as Ruby left, her brother returned home. A week after that her father sent a request out to the Hunter's and Mercenary Guilds for something. It's now been a little over a full month since Lucilla left, and there is another two weeks before her Father and brother finish their preparations for whatever they're working on.

"Shizuka, do you know where my brother might be?" Sara asked, using her Maids first name.

"He should be in his study I believe." Saki Shizuka answered.

Both the Fox Beast-Folk and the Sollen Demons names are very similar to each other if not right out the same. Despite this shared fact between the two the fox people's culture is still similar to the rest of the Beast-Folk. During the time when Eldon Vesh was still terrorizing the world Two and a half thousand years ago the Fox people and the Sollen found themselves located in the same land. They ended up mixing and sharing cultures, which resulted in both of them having similar names in the end.

While the naming conventions of the Fox people is well known Not many people realize Sollen also does this. Their people are relatively isolated and keep to themselves. As a result, not many non-Demons know this, A possible exception to this might be the people in the Lost country. Sara knew this of course since her dad is half Demon, his name being one a Demon would normally have. Why her mother married someone from the Lost country will forever be lost to the world.

As Sara made her way to her brother's study and she thought about the way names are different from place to place, she wondered about her name and her brothers. 'For some reason they named him Prosperty Vadim Drakovich. I wonder why they did that and then named me with a traditional Human name?' For context, while he goes by Drakove Prosperty, he used to be Kandinsky Drakove Romanovich.

Eventually Sara found herself at her brother's study. Knocking on the door she waited until she heard a muffled voice saying she could enter. Upon entering the room, the first thing she noticed was the large desk on the opposite end of the room. The large reddish desk with glowing like veins running through the wood, was the center piece of the room. The wood that the desk was made of was created from one of the trees that could be found within the Fay Forest.

Behind the desk was a large portrait of her brother. The large and imposing image of her brother appeared to look down on all who see it. Both walls on either side were lined with bookshelves that reached the ceiling full of books and documents. In the middle of the room were two couches with a low table in between them.

"What do you need?" Her brother Vadim asked when he saw his sister.

Vadim looked a lot like his father. His black hair was slicked back, with a small slither of it dyed a dark grey to hide the silver coloring. He wore a red coat with gold lining over a white dress shirt. His pants were black with silver colored lining, tucked into his dark boots.

"Oh, um, I was just wondering what you and Father are planning." Sara answered.

With an indifferent look on his face, Vadim sighed. "If you're not here for anything important just leave or sit in a corner somewhere so I can work." He spoke, as he made a shooing motion with his hand.

Vadim has always been cold to her. Not just her but to everyone he's interacted with. Unlike her and her mother he never seemed to exhibit any type of familiarity with them. Sara knew that this weird feeling of closeness she felt to her Mother and brother was inherited from her mother. When Sara had told her mother she didn't feel this instinctual bond with her father like she did with her and her brother her mother had told her that was normal.

"The reason you feel this way is because of your ancestry, I experienced the same thing as you when I was younger. I'll explain more to you when you're older." Her mother said, smiling down at her.

"Shizuka wait outside, will you?" She said to her maid before moving to the corner of the room to wait. The memory of her mother playing in her head.

Bowing her head Shizuka exited the room. Sara sat in the corner while her brother worked, after a while he seemed to have completely forgotten she was in the room. The young girl quickly but quietly made her way to Vadim and peeked at the documents on his desk. Looking at the documents most of it was financial reports for the operation being planned.

Scanning the desk to find something more interesting she managed to spot one document underneath the others. She couldn't see much of the document but what she could see mentioned Lady Nielia and her forest. The rest was covered up so she couldn't figure out anything more than that. Though she figured it wasn't anything good.

Her father had sent her brother to talk with Nielia a while ago. Dragons that resided in her forest kept appearing above the city much more frequently than usual. Her brother was sent there to talk with her. The reason her father, who was the current leader of Prosperty City, didn't do it himself was because the East Guardian Nielia didn't talk with anyone else but the descendants of Lady Prosperty, Liker her Mother before she died.

A little over a month later he returned. Things didn't get better though for the dragons started using their breath attacks outside of the city. There wasn't any damage to the city or the people, but it did scare off those coming from outside the city. As a result, merchants and other people coming to the city for various reasons started to slowly avoid the city. If things continue as they are the whole economy would grind to a halt.

'I wonder if this has anything to do with what's been happening recently?' She wondered.

Deciding to leave before her brother becomes wise to her presence Sara slipped out of the room. She could've stayed longer and tried waiting until her brother left so she could freely look around, but she didn't think that would work. Times like these usually had her brother doing staying up throughout the night, sometimes he wouldn't leave his study for days on end. Sara wasn't that patient.

After slipping out of the room Sara saw her maid waiting down the hall for her. Making her way towards her the Green-eyed girl wondered what her Father and brother are planning. They constantly kept secrets from her and refused to let her join in on any important stuff. If something happened to her brother, she's supposed to be next in line to be the head of the Prosperty family, so why was so much hidden from her?

'I guess the only thing I can do is wait around and see what happens.' She thought as she walked down the hall.

While Sara did want to know what was happening there wasn't much she could do. Even if she had all the facts, it wasn't like she had any real power to act on the information. This whole thing could be boiled down to a child's curiosity. Though the girl couldn't shake the feeling something big was about to happen.

So. I decided to go with this version.

There are two versions of this chapter, which are practically identical, the only difference between them is Sara's thoughts on Lucilla at the beginning.

In the first version I had the hypnotism have a secondary effect that Lucilla wasn't aware of, which kept Sara from feeling anger or being upset with Lucilla for what happened.

Obviously it wasn't going stay that way but i felt like if I started that plot like that people would be annoyed. Then it'll take months for it to even resolve so here we are. Sara starts out angry instead.

Anyway thanks for reading. Also some reckoning happened thanks to the names.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
