Chapter 3: Everything "Seems" Normal

I was heading towards the cafeteria after my lectures for the day were over. Me and Jessica had promised to meet up in the cafeteria and she said that she would introduce me to her friends. Though I was not 100% sure if I wanted to meet them but I didn't wanna loose the only friend I had made so I said yes.

I was going to join the queue (where people were standing in a line to take their food trays), when I bumped into someone. It was Adam, the Hunk; he was keeping things in his bag while walking at the same time and when we bumped all his things fell down on the floor. We both started picking them up and putting it in his bag.

Me: I'm so sorry. I didn't see you coming.

Adam: It's okay, as it is it's not your fault. I was the one who wasn't paying attention while walking. I'm sorry.

We had almost picked up everything that had fallen except for a pen. We both reached for it at the same time. Our hands touched and our eyes met. When his hand touched mine, it felt like it was electricity running through my veins not blood. His eyes, when they saw me, it was like they saw through me, through my ugly makeover, like he had seen my very soul. Before I went to deep in that moment, I said while breaking the eye contact,"Your pen." I gave him his pen. When he took it, I saw that he was wearing a bracelet. That bracelet was something weird, it just felt out of the world. It was metallic black in colour and it had a golden coloured sun on it.

Me: Nice bracelet.

Adam: Thank you.... for helping me pick up things.

He said that and left before I could say anything. Now that was very weird. It seemed like he didn't wanna talk about the bracelet or he was hiding something. I don't know why but the bracelet seemed odd. But I din't have time for this mystery right now, I had to go find Jessica. I took my tray of food and started searching for her, when Jessica called me out from where she was sitting,"Kristen. Over here." I went there. She was sitting with two boys one of them was Adam and the other guy, well I din't know him. He had tanned brown skin, black hair, he was wearing rimless spectacles. He was like a perfect gentleman. He welcomed me with a heart warming smile, while Adam din't even bother to look up from his food tray. I didn't know him at all but somehow I felt annoyed and disappointed. Ignoring him I sat down.

Me: I hope I'm not bothering you guys. I --

Adam: As if, we're gonna say 'Yes you are bothering us'. Even if you really are.

The Gentleman Guy: Ignore him. He is that tough love kind of guy, you know. So what he actually meant was that; you are not bothering us at all. I am Caleb btw. I don't think we have met.

Me: No. We haven't. I'm Kristen.

Caleb: I heard that you stood up for Jessica today. I'm so happy to see that not all girls are about jealousy and stuff.

Adam: (murmuring to himself, but loud enough for everyone else to hear him) Did she really do anything at all?? Except for speaking a few words.

Me: (taunting Adam indirectly) Well I hardly did a thing. But I just feel good for myself that I atleast spoke something. You know, it's better than just sitting and watching.

Adam: Hmph.

Ooohhh. Take that Adam. This cat is not all about MEOWS, she BITES too. I guess you will keep your mouth shut for a bit now. (Sorry readers the lead just got out of control, her emotions were overflowing I guess 😜)

We continued chatting for a while without any kind of interruption from Adam. Everything SEEMED peaceful and normal to me, till I noticed that Caleb and Jessica were wearing the same bracelets like Adam; only the symbol on them were different. Adam's bracelet had a golden sun, Caleb's has a crystal blue coloured water droplet and Jessica's bracelet had a white coloured breeze like symbol. They din't look like they represented their friendship. And I din't think that asking them about the bracelet was a good idea, because of the reaction Adam gave me earlier. I thought it would be better if I didn't give them a hint of what I was thinking. These bracelets were getting interesting and interesting. I don't know why but they were so damn intriguing.
