Liquid courage lead to a lot of bad decisions. He took my hand. Tugging me along gently as he left the bar with me in tow. I was led through an area that was stuffed to the brim with blacksmith shops, and other similar buildings. Slowly the shops fell off until we came to a large warehouse building.
I wasn't all that interested in the building itself. I was more interested in the destroyed wall right next to the building. Something big had punched a hole in the wall, and whatever it was had done the same to the warehouse. He pulled me over to a hidden door. I guess it was more stumbling.
This guy was just as drunk as I was pretending to be. He opened a panel on the wall next to the door, and scanned his eye then his hand.
"What kind of security is this?" I giggled.
"Eric likes old school security," the scientist pushed the door open, "Not many people know how to hack it nowadays."
The white hall was completely different then the rusted exterior of the warehouse. He walked down the hall. Cleary very giddy about what he thought he was going to do after this. It wasn't difficult for me to keep pace with the slow drunken stride of the scientist. I had to make sure that I still looked drunk whenever he looked back at me.
I actually didn't care to keep this charade up anymore. The only reason I was keeping it up right now was because I didn't care to raise an alarm. Then again I really didn't care to stay in this body anymore. I scanned the building with my infrared. There were multiple heat signatures throughout the large building.
I couldn't clearly see their outlines through the thick walls. Sure, I couldn't take my original human form with this many cameras on me, but I didn't need to entertain this guys fantasy anymore. I gripped his hand tightly, and slammed the thin guy into the wall. I doubted this place was hardwired into the main network, but I was pretty sure that Eric would have some way of knowing what happened here. I stopped submitting to Savannah's personality, and gathered concentrated darkness around my hand so I could use the darkness to burn through any locked doors.
I'd beeline for the computer as soon as I was through the doors. Uploading whatever information was on the computer to the tablet I had taped to the small of my back. I had to unstick it from my back, and hook it up to the computer for each download since the whole place was hardwired. There was no wifi hook up, or streaming here. I moved quickly from computer to computer.
I was stunned when I saw the state of the first beast I'd found. The damn thing was shaped like a oversized bear with six legs. Yet instead of fur like you'd normally expect this thing was covered in scales. The scales constantly seeped blood as they scraped against the beast's sensitive skin. He looked at me with a growl.
I entered the cage without hesitation. The beast leapt at me with more strength then you'd expect from a creature that was so badly wounded. I reacted instinctively. The beast's own shadow turned into large deadly spikes. Impaling, and killing him before he could get anywhere near me.
I moved on after that. The second beast I came across was hybridized with the small fox creature I'd seen multiple times. This one was being fed through tubes, and was strapped down carefully. It's back legs looked like the fox's had. The front ones were deformed wings.
They were fused together in a way that caused them to break multiple times as the creature grew. Another shadow spike was enough to slice his little head off.
"What the hell are you doing?" the guy that ran in wasn't skinny or science like, "Surrender peacefully or I'll hurt you."
I was pretty sure he was underestimating me because I was a woman. I laughed at him. He didn't take that well. He launched an attack at me. It looked like some sort of goo, and it hit my legs pretty accurately.
Hardening in seconds. I walked out of the trap with minimal resistance. I could have destroyed it with darkness, but I didn't see the need to. The guy rushed up to taze me. Only to find the electricity didn't do much to me at all.
I grabbed him by the offered arm, and threw him into the wall. I hadn't been trying to hurt him so he didn't slam into the wall very hard, but that was actually a negative since he wasn't knocked out by the hit. I rushed him. Taking his tazer from him, and jamming it down on his shoulder. Shocking him until he passed out.
I preferred not to go too crazy with the feats of strength while I was being watched. I ran to the next room. This beast was hybridized with something I hadn't seen before. All of them had been hybridized with wyverns. Why?
Even if it's diluted Wyverns are of dragon blood. Genetically they are naturally stronger then most beasts, and are the most likely to survive these kind of alterations.
I slammed through the next set of doors. Killing the creature inside the instant I laid eyes on it before rushing over to the computer to download the information saved on it. I only had a few large rooms left. The last one radiated cold. I opened the door.
What I found was disturbing? The room was full of partially developed creatures. All hybridized with wyvern. There were dozens of them. All of them frozen.
The closer they were to full term the more notes there were about them. I didn't bother reading any of it. I just saved it to the device, and moved on. I moved on. I found the room with the destroyed wall finally.
