1 Year Later
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining brightly outside. I smiled as I realized it was finally my wedding day. I stretched my arms out and felt the softness of the silk sheets in the hotel room.
I got out of bed and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I was wearing a white satin robe, my long hair was pulled in a messy bun to keep the dark strands from blocking my vision. My skin was fair, clear of blemishes and makeup free. I had to get ready soon, but first I wanted to take a moment to appreciate the day.
I walked over to the window and looked out at the beautiful garden where the ceremony would take place. The flowers were in full bloom and the air was filled with the sweet smell of roses. I took a deep breath and smiled.
There was a knock on my door and Alex, my foster mother, and my birth mother all filed into my room. My two moms got along pretty well. When they first met it was awkward, but over the last year we’d all made it work.
