Ch.7 The Mind Phase, The Truth(1)

Feng Jiang found himself standing in the middle of the familiar domain, attempting to guess what the trial was going to be. When suddenly a screen popped right in front of his face.

[Welcome, Feng Jiang, To the first trial of the mind phase. This trial was supposed to test your will and resolve. No matter how much pain you can tolerate, if you don't have the resolve to achieve something, you can never succeed. But due to your unexpected gain of the passive skill 'Indomitable Will', you would gain absolute immunity to trials that test your will, but you decided to go ahead with the trial without your earned skill, so the test shall remain the same, but the reward for clearing it would be increased.]

Feng Jiang was elated after hearing about the reward. He may have displayed resistance towards his desire for materialistic substances, but that didn't mean that Feng Jiang had lost the desire to obtain something. It just meant that he had the ability to resist temptation when needed.

In the blink of an eye, the domain morphed into Feng Jiang's next trial.

Feng Jiang was dizzy for a second because, unlike the previous times where it was his spirit that was undergoing trial, this time it was Feng Jiang's mind; he was no longer intangible and immune to environmental changes.

Feng Jiang found himself back in his room in the heavenly realm. Feng Jiang was stunned for a second before getting a grip on himself and calling for the orb. The orb shimmered into existence right in front of Feng Jiang.

Feng Jiang looked up to the orb and said, "Why are we back here? Is this my trial? Do you wish for me to face my parents once again, knowing how much I loathe them for abandoning their own flesh and blood?"

The orb didn't respond, but the same screen that always shows up at the beginning of all the trials appeared in front of him.

[You are almost correct. This is indeed the trial, but this isn't your timeline; this is the past. This was the day you were born. Observe]

Feng Jiang knew this place like the back of his hand, even though it was monumental. Feng Jiang, due to his godly-sharp mind, has remembered everything since the day of his birth. Feng Jiang looked at his body and noticed it was in an ethereal state, a state where his existence is ignored by the numerous guards and maids that are currently rushing towards the main bedroom, the place where he was born.

Feng Jiang felt light on his feet and realized that he was floating. Feng Jiang assumed that it was the power of the orb that was concealing their existence while letting Feng Jiang interact and float around the palace. Feng Jiang flew straight through the walls and entered the main bedroom.

Right when Feng Jiang entered, the baby was born, the heavens celebrated his birth, and countless gods and deities congratulated the couple and left behind gifts for the young boy to use. Some left heavenly treasures for the boy to consume, and some left enchanted artifacts that were supposed to be used as toys. Meanwhile, the baby boy seemed to have noticed Feng Jiang's existence, despite the power of the orb concealing his current self.

Feng Jiang was startled as he couldn't remember this memory; he didn't remember looking at himself as a child. It was then that the orb showed up in front of him and released a sound that entered directly into his mind.

A deep androgynous voice echoed in Feng Jiang's mind: "This is a part of your memory that I sealed away for your own good. At one point in time, I was almost destroyed by this universe's heavens. I had barely escaped the upper realm when I met this universe's will. Because I was already weakened from the battle between the 'Tian lineage' and the force that shall not be named, I was almost destroyed by the backlash from the will due to my forceful entry into this world."

The voice continued speaking.

"As you already know, I am a peak chaotic treasure that was birthed by the heavens above, and I am capable of changing the fate of those whose destiny ordained them to a life of mediocrity. But the source of my power was the power of the heavens and a piece of chaos."

"But in that battle, the 'villainous group' stole my power source and sealed it within the heaven sealing scroll; in that battle, 'Shang Tian' forcefully took me back and the heaven sealing scroll and threw us into the world below, but I was already corrupted by the group's power; they follow the power of infinite reversal; it's a power that rivals that of the heavens above; they changed my pure nature into that of chaotic evil."

"I was corrupted by revenge; I wanted to gain my power back. The only way was to get my power source back, but it was sealed within the scroll. I tried every way of retrieving it, but it all failed. The only way to release my power source was to supplement the scroll with a power similar to my own. I waited for eons, and finally you were born."

Feng Jiang was not really interested in learning the orb's sob story and was paying more attention to the looks of joy on his parents faces and the joyous mood in the bedroom, but Feng Jiang's face turned serious when he heard the orb mention his birth.

Feng Jiang had been ready to shout at the orb for wasting time telling a story rather than finishing the trial. For a moment, Feng Jiang thought that the trial required him to shut the orb up. Feng Jiang was just about to erupt when his birth was mentioned, and now he was interested.

"You, Feng Jiang, were born with a talent superior to that of even my previous holder, 'Shang Tian'. You were surrounded by heaven at your birth, and the universe's will blessed all the worlds with gifts and heavenly treasures. To celebrate your birth, all the people in the universe who were at death's door were given a new life; it was as if the world didn't want to ruin your birth with deaths. Many cultivators who couldn't comprehend the Dao received enlightenment and were reborn and given another chance to become immortals."

"You were the chosen one I was looking for. I instantly rushed out of the void and came to you. I noticed an abundance of heavenly qi surrounding your body. As a treasure that is capable of enhancing talent, I see no limit to your potential. The heaven-sealing scroll that had been lifeless for eons was awakened in your presence. The evil power that had corrupted me and the scroll was destroyed by your gaze. I sensed a unique yet terrifying power brewing within you. It was then that I noticed that you had noticed my arrival; you could see me."

This memory that you currently see in front of you is not yours; it's mine. The old man also saw this memory, and that is the reason why he decided to help you. Instead of leaving after dealing with me, he asked you to carry on the 'Tian' lineage because he knew you could take it to a whole new level."

The voice was now shaking, as if not willing to go any further, but Feng Jiang wanted to know the truth. He shook the orb and demanded it continue speaking. The voice unwillingly continued.

"The heaven-sealing scroll opened up and released the source of my power. But sadly, it wasn't just me who was corrupted by the infinite reversal; it was my power too. The power of heaven has changed to an evil all-destroying power, and the piece of chaos has turned into a block of power, condensed and heavy; it was as if the infinite power of chaos had stopped leaking".

The voice took a break to let Feng Jiang digest what it had just said. Feng Jiang was currently in a state of confusion and was dumbfounded, to say the least. He couldn't believe that all of this had been planned since his birth.

What was so special about him? Why was he so unique? And what has all of this to do with the orb taking away his so-called 'immeasurable talent? If he was so scary when he was born, then why could the orb take it away, and why did the orb take it away when it had achieved what it had wanted?

(A.N--> I know i released late, but i broke my glasses, and writing without them gives me a headache, I may release the next chapter tdy or tmr, so stay tuned, Till then i hope you guys have a wonderful day.)
