Ch.10 The Mind Phase, Last Trial-The Trial Of Seven Emotions

Feng Jiang felt dizzy as his surroundings twisted and warped into a swirling black hole, bringing him back to the empty void. He saw his pure crystal soul floating right above the Duel Dragon Seal. He also saw the drop of blood that was condensed by the orb back when he was dying, from the remains of his collapsing body.

Feng Jiang was back in his intangible form; he saw the orb appear above him, and it started to release its power. Feng Jiang then heard the orb's voice resound in his head.

"Feng Jiang, this is the last trial of the Mind Phase. You already know that the next trial is meant to help you control your seven emotions. My original plan was to make you go through the normal mode, as I didn't want you to gain control of your emotions. If you did, then my plan would have failed. But you have already gained full control over your state of mind, so I want to know if you want to continue with the normal mode or if you wish to increase the difficulty."

Feng Jiang didn't hesitate for a second and instantly said, "I want to go through the god-level difficulty". After all, the rewards for god-level trials are the best; Feng Jiang's hunger for power won't be satisfied by the rewards of the normal-level trials.

Feng Jiang then saw his surroundings change. He was brought forth, a giant temple, about the size of a mountain. He slowly entered the entrance and was brought face to face with a giant stone tablet. The words written on it were unfamiliar to Feng Jiang, despite his vast knowledge of the world from his past lives.

While Feng Jiang was trying to understand his surroundings, he heard a small, *whoosh*. Feng Jiang instantly turned around to find the source of the sound but found nothing. Feng Jiang went into full alert mode and scanned his surroundings in clear detail.

Feng Jiang once again heard the same sound coming from behind him. Feng Jiang quickly turned around, hoping to find the culprit behind the sound, but what he saw in front of him almost made Feng Jiang lose his calm—a being who was glowing with holy light, so bright that he could barely make out the dress he or she was wearing.

The being opened his mouth and said in a deep old voice, "Welcome to the temple of FKLAJ*#&!, It has been countless eras since a chosen one has reached this temple; the trial guardian has taken an interest in you, boy; and the trial has been changed for the better.

Feng Jiang didn't like the feeling of being a test subject and a pawn in another person's game; he was not happy that he was being used as a source of entertainment by the so-called trial's guardian. But he has no choice; he has to go through with the trial.

The being, who now addressed himself as the priest, continued, "The original trial was meant to help the trial takers suppress and control their seven emotions: grief, melancholy, fear, love, anger, joy, and worry. You are an interesting case; those who have gone through the previous trials come here completely broken, scared out of their minds, and with no control over their emotions. It's very normal; after all, they are peak geniuses who have suppressed an entire generation by themselves; they would have never thought that the opportunity that they were promised would lead them to so much pain."

The being paused for a second before continuing, "You, on the other hand, are special; you have passed god-level trials all the way till here; your trial administrator even interfered with the trials and increased their difficulty to an unprecedented level, yet you exceeded the expectations of all the guardians, so, my master, the guardian of this trial, has decided to test and reward you accordingly. Your trial is no longer the one you were supposed to face; this one is going to be harder, but the rewards will be more abundant."

[It seems that the trial's guardian has decided to increase the difficulty of your trial in return for more abundant rewards. Are you willing to take up the challenge? Yes/Yes]

For a second, Feng Jiang felt that the trial spirit was playing with him; why was there no 'No' option? Doesn't it mean he has no say in this matter? Why were all these supreme experts after him? Why were they trying to make his life harder than it needed to be? 'Well, there is nothing wrong with more rewards; I guess I will do it. What's wrong with more power,', thought Feng Jiang internally. He then pressed 'Yes' and continued with the trial.

When the priest saw Feng Jiang click 'Yes' he smiled, his teeth crooked; he then started casting spells and chanted mantras in a language Feng Jiang was unaware of. Feng Jiang saw his consciousness be surrounded by flesh and blood; he was then pulled into a new body.

Feng Jiang saw the stone tablet from before start to glow; the foreign wordings started to glow with a golden aura and came out of the stone as if they were never carved into the tablet; all the words came together and turned into 7 different doors, all glowing with a different color and having words flowing around them like aura.

He then saw the priest grip the air as if grabbing a staff, then suddenly a wooden staff decorated with jewels appeared in his hands. He then waved his staff in a circular motion as if drawing in the air. The spell that the priest had created before had turned into magical spirals that made their way to the doors. The spells forcibly destroyed the doors and merged the words into one syllable; that one syllable then expanded until it was 15 feet tall. The priest gestured for Feng Jiang to walk into it.

Feng Jiang was amazed at this display of power, as he had never seen an actual cultivator use their power in this way; all the cultivators Feng Jiang had met in his past lives were people who cultivated the art of killing and destruction.

Feng Jiang walked into the 15-foot-tall syllable while dazed. Feng Jiang shook off that feeling of awe and continued walking into the endless hallway that was created by the syllable.

Feng Jiang finally saw light at the end of the dark tunnel; he found himself in a room with the word 'Emotions' written on the wall. Feng Jiang had no idea what the trial was going to do to test his emotions or what had changed. But he went with the flow.

The test began the moment Feng Jiang stepped into the room. The room flashed with light and distorted his vision, and when Feng Jiang opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by visions. This was one of the most precious pieces of memory he had, one of the few times he ever felt joy. Feng Jiang was now reliving that memory. This was the life where he fell in love with a girl he could not forget, but it was also the life he hated the most.

(A/N---> I know this chapter is quite small and i am updating late; that's because i wanted to spend a little more time in the trial section as i felt i was hurrying up the trial way too fast. But for those who like fast progression, don't worry, this trial is also very easy and it will be over by tmr, and again sry for the late chapter, my school was killing me with homeworks and i spent way too much time doing them that i was too tired to even write a chapter. But don't worry i have almost settled down and my time management plan is almost done, i will be uploading another chapter today or tomorrow; i have already written most of it. Belive it or not, i actually wrote this in school :)
